I guess 'animals' includes birds!
My younger Brother's grandchildren came to visit at our latest residence and immediately struck up a relationship with our resident Rainbow Lorikeets.
Living 'out of town' has me digging out all my old camera equipment (nothing flash at all) and shooting all manner of Aussie Flora and Fauna.
And no, April and Emma are not classifed as 'Local Wildlife', they go home at the end of the day.

Bothe the girls and the birds show little fear. Almost as if they get hand fed on a regular basis.

I guess it might be some sort of empathy between small children and animals Pat, it certainly surprised us!
The people we purchased this property from kept bird feeders around the garden which we are continuing of course, but I can't recall any special feeding protocol.
Aside from the Rainbows we have Southern and Crimson Rosellas, Blue Wrens and assorted Finches, plus the obligatory Kangaroo Family in residence.
