That's looking good Duckie. I'm working on a version of Fifinella (the same as I did for the JYAI B-26) and an all natural finish
(Countess II) for this model. I'm kinda fixated on the 391st birds right now and wanted something I could fly in and out of Ian's
    Matching Green scenery.

Thanks Joe. And thanks for the HU on Fifnella. Looking forward to it. Matching Green is my new B-26 home. Great job by Ian, and thanks to you its "Populated" with the appropriate residents.

Thanks for the link, ST. After watching clips like this I remain in awe of the crews who flew into the fire day after day.

Great work Duckie! And thanks for the paintkit! I really appreciate your effort to create a simple one which even can be opened by old dinosaurs, like me

Thank you Huub, and you are most welcome for the paint kit. Would love to see you crank out one with it.

After some early disappointment at not being able to use some paint kits, I found, for me anyway, that the biggest issue was paint kits that group layers with their apps Group function. My PSP app would open these PSD files but would not save them. Groups can be very convenient and help organize the layers but, as experinced by many, can also make them unusable for some of us without that specific app.

I finally have a version of PSP that recognizes groups and allows their use but still will not save it in PSD format! It will, however save it in PSPimage format.

I will probably do this for any future paint kits I may do. Why restrict the use of a "product", free or otherwise, if you can make it available to all who want it with just a little extra effort?

    Cheers,

    Steve

Here is one I'm working on. This is using Rick's aluminum textures as a base, still need to go in and adjust the alpha for a more wartime
look. I just wanted to see what it looked like in sim, and just like a First Date you want to look good.

Here is Fifinella. This is just a first run at dirtying her up, still a lot to do. Then it's moving on to the part I am not that good at
which is chipping the paint up.

Fifinella is looking good Joe. Aaahhhh, yes, chipping paint! Relatively painless, just time consuming. It would be nice if someone would come up with a digital paint chipping "brush".

I think its already there Steve. I would love to have it, but as you have to have Photoshop first, I just can't afford it.................

The whole video is very interesting but the real paint work starts at 8:14. really amazing!
(However wouldn't this destroy the real fun from repainting?)

I have Quixel Suite and it's actually a mixed blessing. You have to remember that it's a procedural painting tool, designed for PBR applications (which FSX isn't - XP11 and FSW are, I don't think P3Dv4 is PBR yet, either) so actually doesn't have a lot of application to us here... For starters, you'll need the original high poly model, with layers baked out from the 3d modelling software, in a format that can be understood by Quixel and, critically, the correct orientation (which isn't the correct orientation for FSX, either...)

You'll then discover that 99% of what it creates is of no use to you whatsoever, as you'll need to convert the PBR material layers to "flat" legacy textures. Oh, and if you do start using Quixel, get another application to burn your curvature map, because even though Quixel's tutorials say it can be done internally, the result is horrible! XNormal seems popular, apparently. The put on the and have fun.

    Cheers,

    Ian P.

The video is very impressive. And, I too would use it if I could afford it. However, as IanP has already said, it doesn't work so much in FSX. It also seems to me the skill is in learning how to use the app rather than than having the skills and talent of an artist. The art is in the app! Just my first impression.

As you most probably already know I'm a real dinosaur when it comes to modern graphic programs. So I already got lost in Ian's first sentence .
But I do understand Quixel is useless for FSX. Which is good to know, as that way I won't be replaced by an app.

    Cheers,
    Huub
