    Good afternoon,

    Here is the final mission for the BEF timeline campaign, which is 22 missions in length...

    "title_string"=Battle of France (RAF) - Spitfires caught Swordfishing
    "summary_string"=Attention, chaps! Fairey Swordfish are being sent out to hit Gravelines, and they will need all of the help we can provide. You will assist the effort by lending top cover for their mission, and help their escort shield 'em from any interception by German fighters. With Bomber Command taking high losses, we must try to protect the ranks of the Naval Air Service as well! Let's give it our best on this one!
    "objective_string"=On the afternoon of 25 May, three RAF Spitfires of 54 Sqn were shot down & another was damaged by Bf-109s and Bf-110s of I/JG 26 and I/ZG 76. These Spitfires were escorting Swordfish of 825 Sqn NAS to strike Gravelines. The slowness of the Swordfish put the Spitfires at a big disadvantage, and they were badly mauled as a consequence. It is not known if any Swordfish were attacked, but no losses were reported. The Spitfires did manage to shoot down a Bf-109 and a Bf-110 in exchange for their losses.
    "intelligence_string"=After takeoff, you will climb over the Estuary and turn for the Kentish coast, passing near Hawkinge on your way out to sea. Because the Swordfish is so slow, you will rendezvous with 'em as you near the French coast. You will fly top cover for them, while Red and Blue sections provide close escort. Your task is to assist the escort fend off attacks on the highly vulnerable Swordfish. Anything that you can do to draw German fighters off will help. Once their raid is complete, they will retire to the coast, crossing Calais, and then turn northwest. This may be a rocky mission, so we will need your best efforts on this one!

    Good evening,

    Here is the final mission for the RAF bomber campaign....I ended up separating AASF French-based missions from the English-based RAF missions.

    "title_string"=Battle of France (RAF) - Bridge-busting along the Lys
    "summary_string"=Let's get moving, men! The enemy is using bridges along the River Lys, north of Lille, to advance into France and block our withdrawal route to Dunkirk. You must hit and destroy these bridges to prevent German forces from achieving the goal of cutting off our main route of evacuation and best chance at safety!
    "objective_string"=During the late afternoon of 25 May, 21 Squadron bombers raided pontoon bridges near Courtrai and Menin, Belgium on the River Lys. Over Belgium, one of these Blenheims was lost to heavy anti-aircraft fire. Based on the information available, it can be assumed that the entire squadron was involved, so this mission is based on that premise. There's also no evidence the bombers were intercepted or had escorts, so they weren't added to the mission. Due to the limitations of CFS2 scenery, the bridges in the area are permanent structures.
    "intelligence_string"=Once airborne, you'll head southeast over England and the North Sea to come ashore in Belgium near Ostend. As you near the target area, each section will hit their own bridge; yours is a modern steel bridge in the city of Courtrai, which the bombers will attack first. After your Blenheims strike the targeted bridge, remain in formation as the other two bomber sections will attack bridges nearby at Menin. Once they finish, you will return to Watton for the evening.

    Question Another question for Cody Coyote...

    Cody,

    I ended up with two separate endings for this campaign. Does this work, or do I have to go back and revise? (I'm not getting any errors during self-testing)

    Hi Rami,

    I don't see any problem with it. Looks good to go.

    P.S. My biggest campaign has five endings (and 533 nodes).

    Cody,

    Good to know; this was a test-bed for the RAF fighter campaign. I’m trying to ensure repeated playability. The fighter campaign will have sixty-four missions in just sixteen days, so there will be a lot of "if-than" scenarios and "forks in the road."

    Like those forks! That's what drove my big one up to such a high count. The beauty is you can play it again and again and find it different each time.

    Good morning,

    Here is the final RAF fighter mission...

    "title_string"=Battle of France (RAF) - Desperation at St. Inglevert
    "summary_string"=Listen up, chaps! German Panzers are on the move, closing on the perimeter of Calais. We are sending any resource we have to slow or halt the advance, so you have been asked to escort Blenheims to the area, and defend them from any marauding enemy fighters. We heard rumors that an evacuation may begin as early as tomorrow, so we will require all our available resources for the effort!
    "objective_string"=Just before midday on 25 May 1940, twenty-four Blenheims of 15, 40, & 107 Sqns attacked German motorized units passing through the St-Inglevert-Rety-Guines area, south & southwest of Calais. As the bombers attacked, the formation was jumped by Bf-109s of I/JG 27. Between the fighters and anti-aircraft fire, two bombers were shot down & four others damaged. Two Hurricanes of 151 Sqn were also lost off of Ostend, Belgium when they collided during the escort. This mission combines the two strikes and uses the Boulogne-Calais road, since suitable roads in the Rety-Guines sector are lacking.
    "intelligence_string"=Once airborne, you'll fly east, out over the North Sea to meet up with the Blenheims off of Ostend. From there, you'll stay with the bomber formation, and protect the two Blenheim flights attacking the southern column. The bombers will come ashore at Calais, and then will attack the columns and head out to sea to avoid having to recross France. Over the enemy columns, be sure to defend the bombers from any fighters attacking them, drawing 'em off from the Blenheims. Once these bombers turn for bases north of the Thames, continue back to North Weald.

    Good afternoon,

    All German fighter missions are completed, except for those in The Netherlands...

    "title_string"=Battle of France - Don't cross border lines in pursuit!
    "summary_string"=A German Dornier has been sighted above the city of Verdun, and was last seen flying northeast. We will try to intercept the enemy plane before it can reach Luxembourg & then cross into Germany. We do not have much time to catch her, so get to your fighters & chase the enemy down before they can flee!
    "objective_string"=On 25 May, just prior to midday, a Dornier Do-17p of 1(F)/22 returned heavily damaged from attacks by P-36s of GC II/5 over Verdun. During the real mission, these P-36s broke off their pursuit at the Luxembourg border. In this fictionalized version, the Do-17 is withdrawing from its reconnaissance over Verdun at a higher altitude, and your flight is to intercept it before it can reach Luxembourg. If you pursue it beyond the border, you may risk a nasty surprise.
    "intelligence_string"=Once airborne, you will head northwest to try and intercept the Dornier over Verdun. If you wind up below the Do-17, climb after it in pursuit. The two airfields of Senon and Etain-Rouvres will serve as markers for the halfway mark of your chase. You will receive a warning when this Dornier reaches the border. If you shoot it down after this point, it may provoke a nasty response. After you shoot down the Dornier, return to Nancy-Essay to refuel and reload. Bonne chance!
    "player_aircraft_name_string"=FDG2_P-36 Capt Jean Accart GC I 5 Pontarlier 1940
    "airfield_string"=France - Nancy

    "title_string"=BoF Jagdgeschwader - Taking candy from a baby
    "summary_string"=Aufpassen Männer! The French have continued to send out recce aircraft escorted by fighters over the roads near Reims, looking for Panzers & other vehicles, and then sending the information back to bomber units! Your task is to intercept this recce aircraft & shoot it down, so that our forces on the ground will not be harassed by enemy aircraft!
    "objective_string"=During the late morning of 25 May 1940, I/JG 53 engaged P-36 Hawks of GC II/4 west of Vouziers and south of Attigny. During this dogfight, two of the P-36s collided in mid-air. While this happened after their escort for a Potez 63.11 from GR I/52, this scenario has their recce mission in progress. During their actual dogfight, these P-36s managed to damage a Bf-109, causing it to force-land.
    "intelligence_string"=Once airborne, you will fly a southerly course and climb to 3,000 meters. The French recce aircraft and their fighter escort should approach from the west-southwest. If you do intercept them, try to quickly down the recce aircraft before the escort can intervene. When engaging Hawks, remember to avoid all slow turning fights, and instead use your superior speed and climbing ability to initiate and break contact. Viel Gluck!
    "player_aircraft_name_string"=AH_BF109ECFS2_Molder s_JG53

    "title_string"=BoF Jagdgeschwader - Molders and the Dewoitine
    "summary_string"=Aufgepasst, kamerad! Our fellow Jagdgeschwader are reporting a far newer French fighter that has performance almost matching our own 109. Several pilots have been shot down by these new machines. Your task is to scout the area where some of these fights have taken place, and gather intelligence on these new machines, especially how best to defeat them!
    "objective_string"=During the early evening of 25 May 1940, a single Dewoitine D-520 of GC II/3 was shot down & two more were badly damaged from anti-aircraft fire & fighters of Stab/JG 53. This included Werner Molders. This was a significant encounter because GC II/3 was possibly France's best fighter unit, and Werner Molders was one of the Luftwaffe's greatest early-war aces. The Dewoitine was also the best French fighter that they had. There is no indication of German losses during this encounter.
    "intelligence_string"=Once airborne, you'll head southwest and climb up to 4,500 meters. Along the way, you'll pass Reims. The old battlefield town, Chateau-Thierry, marks the limit of your patrol. Along this patrol, look for and engage any French or British fighters. We've heard rumors the French have quickly ramped up production of their Dewoitine D-520, which is a pretty close match for our Messerschmitt. Be sure to watch out for that cannon in the nose if you do engage them! Once the skies in the patrol area are clear, return to your base at Charleville.

    Good morning,

    All of the French fighter and bomber missions for Part I have been completed...

    "title_string"=Battle of France - Evacuating Maldegem under threat
    "summary_string"=Se dépêcher! Les Allemands se rapprochent, nous devons évacuer immédiatement! Enemy ground units are just kilometers away, so we must evacuate and return to France. Along the way, we'll sweep over the Calais-Dunkerque area before turning for the Somme Valley as we continue to our new airfield at Dammartin-en-Goële. From here, your fight will concentrate more on the Somme.
    "objective_string"=This is a quasi-historical amalgam of two French missions. On 25 May 1940 at around 1515 hours, a Ju-52 from 11/KGzbV.1 was shot down & a second damaged by Morane 406s of GC III/I on a supply mission to Saint.Pol-du-Mer airfield, near Dunkirk. (Calais-Merek is used as its replacement) Further south, a Ms-406 was shot down by 109s of I/JG 2 while escorting a Potez 63 south of Bapaume. This combines the two events, and begins the mission at Maldegem, where GC III/1 was stationed briefly, but nearly two weeks earlier.
    "intelligence_string"=After takeoff, you will clear out due west over Bruges before turning west-southwest. Over Dunkirk, look for any fighters or transport aircraft trying to aid German forces around Calais and Dunkerque. After leaving the area, fly southeast toward the town of Bapaume, where you will meet a French recce plane. After your rendezvous, escort the plane to the town of Noyon, keeping it safe from enemy fighters. Once the escort turns for Paris, continue down to your new base at Dammartin-en-Goële.

    Good evening,

    The last German missions outside of the conflict with the Dutch have been completed.

    "title_string"=BoF Kampfgeschwader - Bombing as the light fades
    "summary_string"=Männer, herhören! Our sortie has been delayed by supply issues, but our squadron leader believes we can make a run to raid Lens and Douai and return to Germany before the light fades. As we continue to force the Allies into a isolated pocket near the coast, these strikes will prevent them from getting reinforcements they'll need to contiune fighting. Let's strike accurately and return before the light fades!
    "objective_string"=Just before dusk on 25 May 1940, Dornier Do-17 bombers of II/KG 76 ran into French P-36 Hawks of GC I/4 between Saint-Pol and Hesdin, while en route to strike the cities of Lens and Douai. These Hawks damaged two bombers, but one of the P-36 fighters was shot down by return fire from these Dorniers. For consolidation purposes, all bombers focus on striking Douai. In addition, an escort of Bf-110s have been provided for added protection, but it is very unlikely these were provided for the actual mission.
    "intelligence_string"=Once airborne, form up with the other Do-17s and climb to 4,500 meters. As you pass over Belgium, a small force of Zerstorers will meet you to provide escort. As you approach Douai from the southwest, the formation will separate slightly. Your bombers will attack the rail yard, while those to your left will hit two factory complexes. If fighters try to intercept you, the escort should draw them off so you can turn for Germany. The timing of this raid might mean that it could be getting dark when you return, so be careful you don't wander off-course during the mission!
    "player_aircraft_name_string"=Dornier Do-17Z2
    "airfield_string"=Germany - Koln-Ostheim

    "title_string"=BoF Kampfgeschwader - Focus shifts to the Somme
    "summary_string"=Kameraden, herhören! The area around Amiens and Abbeville continues to be a struggle as our Panzer units struggle for control along the Somme front. With the Brits & French now positioned just to the south, we must deny them access to the rail yard they are using to reinforce their defense, and the factories that are still running in the area under their control. Let's render both of them unusable and help our forces on the ground!
    "objective_string"=Just before the other raid by II/KG 76 on Lens & Douai, Do-17s of KG 3 were also in action over the Amiens area. It is not known if this was an attack from altitude on specific targets or at low level against enemy vehicles and fortifications. Because scant details are available, a strike from altitude on the railyard has been chosen. Whilst they were near Amiens, the Do-17s got jumped by Bloch 152s from GC I/52. Two Dorniers were shot down with three others badly damaged. For this mission, the escort of Bf-110 Zerstorers has been provided for your protection.
    "intelligence_string"=Once airborne, you will fly due west and climb up to 4,000m. The other Do-17 flights will stagger in height around you. As you leave Germany, Bf-110s will rendezvous with you and stay with you as you continue into France. As you approach Amiens, the flights will split, with half raiding a ball bearing plant, and the other half hitting the rail yard. As you near the target, watch out for enemy fighters. Hopefully, the escorts will draw them away so you can drop on the target accurately. Once finished, you will return to Kitzingen. Be sure to watch your fuel, you'll be running pretty low when you return to Germany.

    Good morning,

    The work has begun in Holland...including a few surprises I didn't work on until now, like this...

    "title_string"=Battle of France (AASF) - Battles hit secondary targets
    "summary_string"=Let's get to your Battles! Reconnaissance spotters flying over southern Holland radioed that enemy Panzers are on the move near Breda, Holland. You will locate this convoy and attack it, prventing its advance toward Belgium. If you cannot locate this column, then we will raid secondary targets. Let's show the Germans that the AASF is up to the task of defending Holland, Belgium, and France!
    "objective_string"=During the morning of 13 May 1940, seven Fairey Battles departed Reims to raid an armored column nearing the Boeimeer-Rijsbergen road. They were escorted by six Hurricanes of 56 Squadron. While the Hurricanes swept this area, the Battles could not find the column, so they struck targets in the city of Breda (Boeimeer) instead. Only two Battles were damaged, and one had to force-land, so the mission was mostly seen as a success. Two of the escorting Hurricanes were also damaged by flak. On this mission, a random chance element has been added that could generate a Bf-110 intercept; this is just done to add a little variety to the mission.
    "intelligence_string"=After takeoff, yo will climb to Angels 4 and head north-northeast over Belgium into Holland to reach the Boeimeer-Rijsbergen road. Your target will be a German Panzer column. If you cannot find 'em, then you may raid targets in the city of Boeimeer (Breda) itself. An escort of Hurricanes will help cover your formation over Holland. When finished, clear out & head back to Reims, where we'll await further orders. With the tactical situation on the front being fluid, we're likely to see action again. Good luck!

    Good evening,

    Another mission complete...

    "title_string"=Battle of France (RAF) - Lead HMS Javelin to the sea
    "summary_string"=Listen, chaps! Defiants of 264 Sqn are responding to a request by HMS Javelin to have an escort to the open sea after taking shelter in the Amsterdam Canal. Your Spitfires will help protect this British destroyer and support the Defiants. Let's help our comrades in need & make sure they can reach the open sea and return to Scapa Flow. Hang on lads, we're coming!
    "objective_string"=On the afternoon of 12 May, 66 Sqn Spitfires and 264 Sqn Defiants flying in pairs, run into a Ju-88 attacking a British destroyer off of Ijmuiden. The Ju-88 was chased inland & claimed, but in reality the Ju-88 from II/KG 30 was only damaged. This mission has been altered by increasing the number of Ju-88s to three, & having the British destroyer trying to reach the open sea. In addition, a flight of Bf-110s has also been added to provide a small random chance element to the mission.
    "intelligence_string"=Once airborne, you'll form up & fly east-southeast to reach Holland. Over the North Sea, you'll form up with the Defiants & come ashore at Ijmuiden on the Dutch coast. Look for the HMS Javelin as she heads for the sea, and loiter above her for a few minutes to ensure she reaches the open sea. Once this is accomplished, form up and then fly back to England. The Defiants will remain you for part of the flight home. Make sure to attack any bombers attacking the ship before attacking fighters, let's keep our destroyer safe. Good luck!

    Good evening,

    Another mission completed...one more before the focus turns exclusively to Zee Germans and Zee Dutch.

    "title_string"=Battle of France (RAF) - Sweeping the Zeeland coast
    "summary_string"=To your planes! Our vessels along the Dutch coast need cover for this patrol, so your Hurricanes will provide it. You'll head to the Hook of Holland and patrol along the Zeeland coast. You'll have help on the patrol; Coastal Command Blenheim fighters will join you. Be sure to keep our vessels off the Dutch coast safe, & let's show our friends in Holland we will do our part to help their defense!
    "objective_string"=This is an amalgam of a pair of missions flown by the RAF and Coastal Command on 12 May. At dawn, 151 Sqn sent a section of Hurricanes, joined with three Blenheim IVs, over the Hook of Holland and patrolled above a cruiser, four destroyers, and a patrol vessel. The patrol was uneventful. Later on, three Blenheim IFs were sent across to protect a munitions ship at Flushing, (Vlissingen) and found it under attack by He-111s, Ju-88s, and Bf-110s. The attack was broken up & a Ju-88 was damaged, but no definite claims made. This mission combines the two events into one patrol, and the number of planes attacking have been increased for mission playability.
    "intelligence_string"=After takeoff, you will fly east-northeast across the North Sea to reach the Hook of Holland. You will then patrol along the Zeeland coast at Angels 12, and cover our ships in the area as they patrol along the Meuse-Rhine-Scheldt Delta. Your patrol will end over Flushing (Vlissingen) where you turn for the Flemish coast and back to England. If you run into German fighters or bombers, engage them, especially if they attack our patrol ships. Coastal Command Blenheims will be alongside to assist you. Good luck!

    Good morning,

    Here is the last mission between the British and Germans. Now it's onto 10 May in Holland.

    "title_string"=BoF Jagdgeschwader - Spoiling the landing party
    "summary_string"=Guten Morgen! Reports have come in about British destroyers landing fresh troops just off the coast of The Hague, in an attempt to bolster the Dutch defense. The ships are being covered by fighters. You will find and shoot down the British fighters, so that our Stukas can come in and sink the enemy ships! Let's show the British that their effort will not succeed!
    "objective_string"=On 12 May 1940, the Royal Navy attempted to land Royal Marines ashore at The Hague by destroyers which were positioned offshore, covered by three Blenheims of 235 Sqn. Eight Bf-109s engaged them just off of the coastline, claiming two Blenheims, whilst the British claimed two 109s in return. This mission has been combined with an earlier sortie, when three other Blenheims were sent out to cover a naval ship off Texel, & a later patrol with three Blenheim IFs jumped by Bf-110s, but whose pilots escaped via clouds. It is unclear if any 109s were actually shot down during this mission.
    "intelligence_string"=After takeoff, you'll fly northwest and fly to The Hague, along the Dutch coast. If these reports are true, the ships should be anchored just offshore. Your fighters will locate & take down the fighter cover. As soon as this is done, Stukas will be sent to finish off these vessels. Because of the heavy anti-aircraft fire, don't try to strafe the vessels, we need all of our fighters for future operations. When these fighters are eliminated or you exhaust your ammo, break off and return to base.

    Good evening,

    It has begun...

    "title_string"=BoF Kampfgeschwader - Sunrise above Ypenburg
    "summary_string"=Piloten der Luftflotte! The great offensive in the west has begun, & you are part of the initial force that will attack airfields in Holland. As one of the first units to see action, your He-111s will hit the airfield at Ypenburg, & destroy aircraft hangars, fuel stores, ammunition crates, & parked aircraft, trying to keep the enemy on the ground. Let's show the Dutch that they cannot resist our might!
    "objective_string"=On the morning of 10 May, Heinkel 111s of I/KG 4 raided the Dutch airfield at Ypenburg as part of the organized effort by the Luftwaffe to destroy much of the Dutch, Belgian, and French air forces on the ground. In this, their effort was especially successful in Holland and Belgium, where much of the air resistance was eliminated during the first two days. The total number of aircraft involved is unknown, but given the extent to which Luftwaffe resources were spread in the offensive, the actual numbers were relatively low.
    "intelligence_string"=After takeoff you will form up with the other 111s & fly west-southwest toward Ypenburg, which lies southast of The Hague. The timing of this bombing raid should be to close to sunrise, this will likely catch the Dutch aircraft on the ground. After you release from 3,000 meters, turn immediately east & return to base, as you will certainly be in action later on as events unfold.

    Good afternoon,

    No titles yet for these two, but the missions are complete. And, I only have two more bombing missions to go. One is waiting on a new airfield to be built, and the other is the raid by KG 54 on Rotterdam.

    "title_string"=BoF Kampfgeschwader -
    "summary_string"=Aufpassen Männer! With the aerial success on the first day, we must sustain this heavy pressure and continue to pound these Dutch airfields! Your 111s will attack the airfield at Bergen, also at sunrise, and make sure that the Dutch cannot recover from yesterday's shock to defend themselves!
    "objective_string"=The German effort to catch much of the Allied air forces on the ground was especially successful in Holland and Belglum. Most of both air forces were destroyed during the two days of 10-11 May 1940, although not without some considerable cost to the Luftwaffe. The raid by KGr126 & 7/KG 4 actually occurred on 10 May, but the mission date has been altered by one day to give broader representation of the German effort in Holland.
    "intelligence_string"=After takeoff you will form up with the other 111s and head west-southwest toward Bergen airfield, which lies northwest of Amsterdam. The timing of this bombing raid should be close to sunrise, this will likely catch the Dutch aircraft on the ground. After you release from 3,500m, turn immediately east-northeast & return to Oldenburg, as you will certainly be in action later on as events continue to unfold.
    "player_aircraft_name_string"=GC_He111H6
    "airfield_string"=Germany - Oldenburg

    "title_string"=Slag om Nederland -
    "summary_string"=Reports of invasions from the Swiss border to the North Sea have been coming in, so we are sending patrols in every direction to sweep for any sign of enemy aircraft. Your flight will patrol high across southern Holland, looking for any German fighters or bombers. If you locate the enemy over Holland, show 'em we are ready to defend our nation to the last!
    "objective_string"=This sortie is an amalgam of two separate morning raids by Junkers 88s of III/KG 4 and I/KG 30 on Schiphol during the morning of 10 May. During the raid by KG 30 a Fokker DXXI of 2-II-1 was badly damaged during combat with these Ju-88s, though one German bomber was shot down. The other raid by III/KG 4 was unopposed. Aside from these two morning raids, it seems Schiphol was not attacked again during the remainder of the day.
    "intelligence_string"=After taking off, your patrol will take you across some of the major cities in southern Holland. You will overfly The Hague, Rotterdam, Breda, & then Arnhem before returning to Schiphol field. Your altitude for this hop will be 3,000 meters. If you do run into Luftwaffe flights, they'll likely come from the northeast or east. Top priority should be given to bombers over fighters, especially if they target cities or airfields. If Schiphol is attacked, you will land at De Zilk airfield as your alternate.
