    Cody,

    Thank you. Whenever I do that, I always feel like I might be missing something.

    Good morning,

    Here are a couple more...

    "title_string"=Battle of France - Sedan raided under cover of night
    "summary_string"=Aviateurs, vous avez une tâche importante! German ground units are using the bridges at Sedan to get tanks and troops across the Meuse and establish a strong foothold in France! If we continue allowing this to happen, they may swing around and cut off the British forces in Northern France and Belgium from the rest of the Army! We must not allow this to happen, so be sure to get hits!
    "objective_string"=During the evening of 14 May 1940, a total of six Farman 222 bombers from GB I/15 and GB II/15 raided the bridges over the Meuse at Sedan, in a desperate attempt to prevent German forces from continuing to use them under cover of darkness to increase their bridgehead in France. None of the bombers were lost to enemy fire, but the raid was decidedly ineffective. (On this mission, the timing has been shifted a bit to allow you to take off at dusk, rather than at night)
    "intelligence_string"=Once you're airborne, you will turn east-northeast & climb to 3,000m. As you approach Sedan, you'll raid the northern bridge, while the second bridge will be hit by the other flight. By striking at dusk, it should prevent interception. If by some chance you're intercepted, the Farman is very vulnerable, so do your best to fend off the German planes. Be sure to watch for heavy flak over the target, and then return to Reims for the night. Bonne chance!
    "player_aircraft_name_string"=Farman F.222 GB II/15 MAY 1940
    "airfield_string"=France - Reims

    "title_string"=BoF Jagdgeschwader - Operations start over Lure
    "summary_string"=Männer aufgepasst! While a majority of the action today will support operations to the north, we are attacking France from every direction, so bombers based in Bavaria will pound aerodromes in Eastern France. You will help this effort by escorting 111s to Luxeuil airfield to suppress fighter activities in Eastern France. Let's start off this new offensive by making sure we get all the bombers home!
    "objective_string"=On 10 and 11 May, Luxeuil airfield, a fighter base in Eastern France, was struck by He-111 bombers. It is likely that these bombers were from I/KG 51, based in Bavaria. The total number of Heinkel 111s sent is not known, however, there is some evidence to suggest that on at least one of these raids, 110s provided escort, because a Ms-406 fighter of GC III/7 was damaged by Bf-110s to the northeast of the airfield. For this mission, the nearby airfield of Lure has been used as a substitute.
    "intelligence_string"=Once airborne, you will fly due south and climb to 5,000m on your way to meet up with the bombers. The formation will be split; you'll escort the 111s striking the airfield, while the other Bf-110s will escort the second formation striking the town. As you approach these targets, the bombers attacking the town will raid from the south, while you strike from the north. Your flight paths might cross near the target. While in France, make sure to look out for fighters. After the bombers reach safety, turn north and return to Wiesbaden-Erbenheim.

    Good evening,

    And a couple more...the first mission forces you to "thread the needle" to avoid interception.

    "title_string"=BoF Kampfgeschwader - Do-17p recce over Reims
    "summary_string"=Männer, herhören! The city of Reims & the nearby airfields will be the Luftwaffe's focus for during next two days, to "plow the roads" for our ground forces, who are about to break through at Sedan. To this end, the reconnaissance will take stock of enemy planes at the airfields of Reims, Vraux, and check to see if Etain-Rouvers has been abandoned. We're depending on the information, so make sure to gather accurate pics & then return to Germany intact!
    "objective_string"=Early during the morning of 13 May 1940, a single Dornier Do-17 on reconnaissance flew above Reims aerodrome at 3,000 meters. This action triggered a scramble of three planes to catch it. Amazingly, the gunners aboard this Dornier damaged all three of the Hurricanes, with one being shot down, and the Dornier escaped. Near Spincourt, the Dornier was finally downed by French fighters of GC I/5, but again, a P-36 was damaged and another lost to these gunners aboard the bomber.
    "intelligence_string"=After takeoff, you will fly southwest and climb to 5,000m. After you reach Reims, you must maintain a precise path to the next waypoint while you fly your recce sweep. If you deviate even a little, you will be spotted by those either at Reims or Vraux, who may send planes out to try and intercept you. If this happens, firewall the throttles and run. As you reach eastern France, you'll perform the same mission over Senon airfield, making sure to avoid overflying Etain-Rouvers. After your recce sweep is finished, return to Ailertchen. Viel Gluck!
    "player_aircraft_name_string"=Dornier Do-17p 3UAF Gr22
    "airfield_string"=Germany - Ailertchen

    "title_string"=BoF Kampfgeschwader - Debut of the "Flying Eye"
    "summary_string"=Zuhören, Besatzungen! Today, you have a critical task. You will fly a new aircraft, the Focke-Wulf 189 Uhu, which is being developed to replace the Henschel 126. On this mission, you will fly a recce over the Gembloux area, looking for truck convoys retreating to Allied lines. If you find them, you'll attack them, & then get the 189s back to Germany & report on your experience. Be sure to keep them intact, we don't want to make their production job harder!
    "objective_string"=During 16 May 1940, two pre-production examples of the Focke-Wulf 189 "Uhu," or "Owl," were lost by the Luftwaffe. This would become an important reconnaissance aircraft for the Luftwaffe on the Eastern Front, and a replacement for the Henschel Hs-126. On this day, they were lost to Hurricanes of 79 Squadron, despite the escort by fighters of I/JG 27. The Fw-189 Uhus of 9(H)/LG 2 were on observation between Ernage and Orbais, and both were lost near Braine-le-Comte. The Bf-109 escort shot down one of the attacking Hurricanes.
    "intelligence_string"=After takeoff, you'll rendezvous with the Bf-109s already airborne. They will remain in front of you as you head to the patrol zone. Your assignment is to locate & attack a truck convoy near the town of Gembloux, in Belgium, as well as patrol the sector nearby, looking for all activity on the ground. You will be flying a new aircraft, the Fw-189. She has many windows, so you'll be able to spot the enemy clearly. Your height for the sweep will be 1,000m. If intercepted, let the 109s handle the enemy, and use your maneuverability to avoid all combat. Once finished, return to Monchengladbach.
    "player_aircraft_name_string"=Focke-Wulf FW189 "Uhu"

    Good morning,

    The port of Vlissingen is done, not too bad on the objects. Now I have to do the town, as well as Middelburg.

    Icon22 For Ravenna...

    Michael,

    Here are a couple of screenshots for Middelburg and Vlissingen. I used Gius' ETO large city block buildings to create Middelburg, and used Gius' unreleased village set for the suburbs on the outskirts of the city, as well as the town of Vlissingen surrounding the port. These blocks are often hard to place, because they can only really be used on flat ground, but they work well here, because the ground IS flat.

    I could find no evidence of any industry in the area around 1940, so aside from a couple of AA positions around the port, there's little else there.

    The nice part is that the entire layout, including the port, is under 300 objects in total.

    Good afternoon,

    Here are a couple of new missions...

    "title_string"=Battle of France - Convoy protection over the Scheldt
    "summary_string"=Pilotes votre mission aujourd'hui est importante! A convoy evacuating men and supplies from Antwerp left late and will still be in the Scheldt Estuary at sunrise. You must protect this convoy as it passes by Vlissingen and ensure that they reach open sea. Keep the convoy safe from any attacks so they can reach French ports!
    "objective_string"=This sortie is a quasi-historical amalgam of events on 11/17 May, 1940. Both III/KG 27 & Stab/KG 4 were involved with raids on ships near Vlissingen during these two days. In both cases, the Heinkels were intercepted by Potez 631s of AC 1 and AC 2, as well as P-36 Hawks of GC I/4. During the raids on 11 May, two Potez 631s of AC 2 were shot down by escorting Bf-110s of II/ZG 26, while during 17 May two He-111s of Stab/KG 4 were shot down by AC 2 and GC I/4 over Vlissingen & Zuid Beneland. However, a mission premise of a convoy evacuation is entirely fictional.
    "intelligence_string"=After takeoff, you'll fly east-northeast along the Flemish coast to reach the Scheldt Estuary. This convoy is only a few hours from the North Sea, so they should be nearing Vlissingen by sunrise. Your task is to protect them from any strikes by German bombers on patrol and any fighter patrols over the area. Over the Estuary, remain at 2,000 meters as you patrol from Vlissingen up to Hasweert. If the skies are clear at the end of this patrol, return to Calais-Merek to refuel & reload. It may be a busy day ahead!

    Good afternoon,

    Hey guys...here are two missions...

    "title_string"=BoF Kampfgeschwader - Vengeance at Vlissingen
    "summary_string"=Aufpassen Männer! The Dutch have been using the Port of Vlissingen to both reinforce & supply their forces in Zeeland. If they are allowed to continue this unchecked, it could make it very difficult for our forces to be able to clear them out! You must render the port unusable, and deny the enemy this important asset!
The premise of a high-altitude raid on the port is based on strikes by German bombers on Walcheren during 17 May. Most of fighting in Zeeland ceased the following day.
    "intelligence_string"=Once airborne, you will form up and fly southwest into Holland. Before reaching Zeeland, Zerstorers will meet up with you & cover you over the target. You will focus on hitting the warehouses and piers at Vlissingen. Once you release, reverse course by turning east-northeast over the Scheldt Estuary & then northeast once clear of the target area. The escorts should be able to fend off enemy fighters over the target, and then remain with you until you approach the Rhine. You will then finish the final leg to Oldenburg. Viel Gluck!
    "player_aircraft_name_string"=GC_He111H6
    "airfield_string"=Germany - Oldenburg

    "title_string"=Battle of France - Morning fighter patrol by Moranes
    "summary_string"=Bonjour, les pilotes! Your fighters will fly a short morning patrol above the aerodromes of Athis and Vraux, to the northwest of Chalons-en-Champagne. We've been hearing rumors that the Germans plan to invade French soil at almost any moment, so be ready to pummel this enemy if he decides to show himself! Let's show the Germans that their efforts to conquer us will not succeed!
    "objective_string"=On 10 May 1940, Mourmelon-le-Grand airfield was raided by Dorniers twice; once by III/KG 2 in the morning, and again by II/KG 3 during the evening. Several Fairey Battles of 88 Sqn were damaged or destroyed. Moranes of GC VI/7 were in this area, intercepting Heinkels near Chalons-en-Champagne. However, two Moranes got mauled by return fire. This mission alters the historical record by having the Moranes engage the Do-17s instead of He-111s. The nearby aerodrome of Vraux has been used as a substitute for Mourmelon-le-Grand.
    "intelligence_string"=After taking off you'll fly northwest and climb as you patrol above the airfields of Athis and Vraux. You will patrol at 4,375 meters, whilst the second flight will patrol at 4,625 meters. If you run into any German aircraft, prioritize going after enemy bombers first, & then engage fighters. Take down as many planes as you can, & then once your ammo is exhausted, return to base to refuel and reload.

    Good evening,

    Here are a couple of new missions for 24 May...

    "title_string"=Battle of France (RAF) - Hudsons make an entrance
    "summary_string"=Listen up, chaps! The Emden Nordseewerke is now a major manufacturer of German warships, & your Hudsons are going to raid this important shipyard. While we don't expect to cause massive damage on the raid, your report on their defenses will inform our commanders how to raid this large shipyard on a bigger scale in the very near future. Let's show our commanders we are up to the task!
    "objective_string"=On 24 May, two Lockheed Hudsons of 206 Sqn set out from Bicham Newton to raid Borkum, on one of the Frisian Islads, & to the River Ems, presumably to either lay mines or raid coastal shipping in far northwestern Germany. To this end, this sortie has the Hudsons attacking the Emden Nordseewerke, a shipyard highly active during WWII. The Hudsons were escorted by two Blenheim Mk. If fighters of 235 Sqn. One of the Blenheims was lost during the raid, but it seems that both Hudsons made it back to base.
    "intelligence_string"=After taking off, you will climb to 1,000m and fly east-northeast to reach the River Ems and Estuary. Upon reaching the Estuary, you will hit the Emden Nordseewerke, an active shipyard now being used to manufacture warships. Inflict as much damage as you can and then clear the area quickly before anti-aircraft fire can chew you into pieces. After clearing this target area, continue east-northeast to return to England. Good luck, and get hits!
    "player_aircraft_name_string"=Lockheed Hudson Mk IV 1st Sqdn RAAF
    "airfield_string"=England - Bircham Newton

    "title_string"=Battle of France - Entanglements over the Loire River
    "summary_string"=Allons nous déplacer! German formations are now swarming all across France, and we will be in the air, ready to fight back! Your task is to patrol the Loire River from Orléans down toward the Massif Central, looking for any German bombers trying to raid airfields in Central France. You are ordered to attack whatever you encounter, and take down as many as you can! Let's show the enemy we will not cower under pressure!
    "objective_string"=Late in the morning on 24 May 1940, one Ms-406 was shot down and two others badly damaged by He-111s of III/KG 51 near Chateauxroux airfield. The French fighters were from GC II/7, based at Bourges airfield, & they brought down one of the German bombers. With only limited ammunition, the Morane Ms-406 was proving itself to be a terrible choice for intercepting bombers. For this mission, Bourges airfield has been used as a substitute for Chateauxroux.
    "intelligence_string"=After getting airborne, you'll fly toward the city of Orléans, where you will patrol from there east along the Loire River, flying down to a point past the town of Gien, looking for any German raiders who may strike airfields in this sector of France. You have authority to engage any German bombers or fighters you see. Try to disrupt any attacks on airfields, and if they try to strike Bourges, attack them until you exhaust all your ammo, & then land at Rennes while Bourges is repaired. Try to return in one piece; we must maintain all of our available strength to keep resisting the Luftwaffe!
    "player_aircraft_name_string"=MS 406 Sgt de Puybusque 1940

    Good morning,

    Here are a couple of new missions...

    "title_string"=BoF Kampfgeschwader - Guard the road to Amiens
    "summary_string"=Aufgepasst, kameraden! An observation plane has observed the Allies moving tanks through the town of Montdidier, possibly on their way to reinforce their forces in Amiens. If we're going to push any further into France, we must prevent this buildup, because it will make it more difficult to achieve a breakthrough. Let's find these columns & prevent them from reaching the city of Amiens! Viel Gluck!
    "objective_string"=In the early afternoon on 24 May, two Ms-406s of GC II/3 were lost and three others were damaged (one of GC II/3, and two more from GC III/6) in combat with Dornier Do-17s of II/KG 2, who were attacking Allied convoys near Montdidier, France. The Do-17s were escorted by 110s from II/ZG 26. In exchange, the French pilots brought down one Bf-110, and damaged a Do-17 badly enough that it had to force-land. It's unknown if vehicle convoys in this area were damaged as a result of the raid.
    "intelligence_string"=Once in the air, you will fly west-southwest from Wiesbaden into Belgium & France. As you close in on Montdidler, the formation will spread out a bit. While your Do-17s will try to hit a small munitions plant, the two other flights will attack any vehicle columns nearby. With our armies struggling to take Amiens, we must prevent Allied forces from using their convoys to either evacuate or reinforce this area. Your escorts should be able to fend off any enemy fighters, but be ready to defend yourself as needed. After you release on the target, return to Wiesbaden-Erbenheim.

    "title_string"=Battle of France (RAF) - 73 Squadron covers Amiens
    "summary_string"=We know you just got here this morning, but there is no time to rest! With both armies struggling for control of Amiens on the ground, it is critical that air cover be maintained above to prevent bombing and strafing runs by either side. To this end, your Hurricanes will patrol over the city & engage any enemy planes trying to do the same. Let's keep our ground forces safe so they can push these krauts out of the city!
    "objective_string"=During the afternoon of 24 May, Hurricanes of 73 Squadron patrolling at Amiens ran into Bf-110s of V(Z)/LG 1. During this engagement one Bf-110 was claimed & another damaged, but in exchange, two 73 Sqn Hurricanes were lost. The Hurricanes had transferred to Rouen-Boos from Gaye earlier that morning. Included in this mission is one historical anomaly; a 109 flight as a random chance element to provide variety; in actual fact the two Bf-109s of I/JG 1 were brought down close to Arras on 22 May by Hurricanes, not on 24 May.
    "intelligence_string"=After taking off, you will fly northeast from your new base to reach Amiens. Over the city, maintain Angels 16 & look for any sign of German fighters or bombers in the area. The city is literally being fought over as you fly above it, so if damaged in combat, remember to head southeast or southwest to bail out or crash-land in friendly territory. If you head north, you will likely be captured. Take down as many aircraft as possible and then once finished, return to your new base where you will settle in.

    "title_string"=Battle of France (RAF) - Active armed reconnaissance
    "summary_string"=Listen up, men! Your Spitfires are going to fly the morning patrol over Belgium & France, looking for Luftwaffe reconnaissance aircraft doing mapping or any other observation work. You are cleared to fire on whatever you encounter, just make sure to take advantage before you have to deal with any covering fighters. Let's show the Germans that we are not finished in France yet!
    "objective_string"=This mission represents three different patrols by Spitfires of 65 and 74 Sqdn on 24 May. The first saw Spitfires shoot down a Henschel Hs-126 south of Dunkirk, but losing two of their own attacking Heinkels in the same sector. The second saw a 74 Sqn section shoot down a Ju-88 of III/LG 1 near Ostend, followed by damaging a Do-17p near Saint Omer. The final patrol saw a 65 Sqn section shoot down a Hs-126 just southeast of Calais. This was the last action for 74 Sqdn during the Battle of France; they were moved north the following day. You will fly as 65 Sqdn.
    "intelligence_string"=This is a 50/50 mission. If you come ashore near Ostend, you will sweep across the Pas-de-Calais, looking for German recce planes, and taking down any of 'em that you find. If you come ashore near Dunirk, you will patrol down to Calais at Angels 9 before flying back to England. There's always the possibility of unexpected surprises in both of the mission scenarios, so be on your guard. Once you are finished, head back to Hornchurch. Good luck!

    Good evening,

    With the new semester, progress is slow, but here is a new mission....

    "title_string"=Battle of France - Look for trouble at Calais harbour
    "summary_string"=Pilotes, vos chasseurs attendent! Before the skies darken, you'll fly a short patrol from Lille up to Calais harbor, looking for any German bombers or fighters nearby. The enemy likes to fly patrols at dusk, & with the rumors that the British are about to evacuate, the harbors need to be kept safe from any recce planes or bombers attempting to map the area or raid the harbor. Let's show the Luftwaffe that France will not bow to their might!
    "objective_string"=This is a semi-historical amalgam of two events on 22 and 24 May. On the afternoon of 22 May, two Heinkels from Stab/KG 27 were damaged during a sortie to Calais. One He-111 was hit by flak, while the other was damaged by a Potez 631 over Calais. Later that day, two He-111s from KG 54 were also damaged by flak & a third shot down by a Ms-406 over Calais harbour. This has been combined with combat near Calais on 24 May when Spitfires and Bf-109s from I/JG 1 engaged nearby; one Bf-109 was lost during this encounter.
    "intelligence_string"=Once airborne, you'll fly north-northeast to reach Lille, where you'll begin a patrol to Calais harbor. Maintain a height of 3,500 meters from Lille up to Calais. On this patrol, look for any enemy fighters or bombers heading to Calais, and engage any you encounter. Upon reaching Calais, loiter over above area for a new minutes to make sure that the skies over the harbor are clear, then return to base for the night. Be sure not to fire on any RAF fighters on their evening patrols; we do not want to shoot down British fighters protecting our harbors!

    Question Did you know...Swordfish as a dive-bomber?

    Good morning,

    Did you know that 825 Squadron of the Naval Air Service used the Fairey Swordfish as a dive bomber on 24 May attacking German positions and tank columns near Gravelines, France?

    I can't perceive the Swordfish in this role, but it will certainly be fun to try...

    Have fun with that. Don't dive too steep or fast or you'll rip the wings off that "stringbag." Which Swordfish are you gonna use?

    Did they block the channel entrance? Or did they make it go underground?

    Roxanne21,

    It's a scenery flaw...apparently, the Aa Canal in the sim wasn't built to the sea as it should be.

    Obviously the pilots hadn't read their Misc Data entries.

    Would that be the "ALPHA_Swordfish_CFS2" whose download contains 3 separate variants - Ark Royal, MAC and Taranto? If so, I have it. If not, do you want to try the one that I have? I can send it to you via SKYPE
