That's a "read the bloomin' manual" moment, Cees... On page 2, indeed, with big red writing saying "Don't Panic!" - It does explain why in there and it really isn't a problem, just the way that FSX handles animations.

On the other hand, I can confirm the orange box around the spinner and the weird transparency on the smoke. I thought the latter was just my PC being slow loading textures at first, but having restarted the box and tried again (without ADE, Blender, Photoshop and umpteen explorer boxes open in the background) you can actually see the texture on the textured square planes, but the transparency settings seem wrong.

I've put down incorrect fuelling trucks for the moment, so I can get X2HO out the door... So while I was at it, I threw together something for B.7 Advance Landing Ground at Martragny in France... So that's the 198Sq aircraft having a nest to return to as well. Or it will be, once it's more than some metal sheeting on top of grass. Although, you know, that's pretty much all ALGs were...

For an authentic 2nd TAF Tiffie landing, lose speed as you cross the boundary fence by pulling a loop, drop flaps and gear when fully inverted and finish the loop to touch down. David Ince, from "Brotherhood of the Skies". He was a real Tiffie pilot and it's a jolly good read, old boy!

BTW, the CFS3 Tiffie is/was an exceptionally ugly model, including a bent canopy frame in the VC, and should not be mentioned in the same breath as Baz and co.'s splendid model. Yes, I do fly CFS3...

    Thanks Dave,
When I wrote it I already had my doubts. But now I'm sure; no Jan Linzel re-paint

Huub, I've dug a bit further and 5R was 33 Squadron. " The squadron flew the Spitfire IX as part of 2 TAF, carrying out a mix of escort and fighter-bombing missions. It flew fighter support for the Normandy Landings on 6 June 1944, moving to France in October 1944, when it concentrated on ground-attack operations. It re-equipped with the Hawker Tempest in December, returning to action from Gilze-Rijen in February 1945, flying fighter sweeps in North West Europe."

So no Typhoon - but if you want to do Jan Linzel's Tempest there is always the FCS one in the Hawker Heroes pack, and for me the default paint schemes are the weakness.

Great news this is out, and another Hawker classic to add to my collection!

Looks fantastic, but will have to wait a bit till I can get it from one of the usual AH vendors.

    Cheers

I ended up disabling the fx_AH_Typhoon_EngStart in the [effects] section. I wanted to see if others encountered the same issue.

Everything else is great. Love the cockpit and the default flight dynamics are a challenge. Had to practice several landings to get the handle on it. Looking forward to more flights today.
Any news AH about this bug?

In Dx10 when the engine starts the effect is the same but it soon resolves into thick smoke. I wonder if the P3d and FsX effects files got switched?

I haven't seen this personally, but it seems a few are getting it so we will be putting up a new effect. I will post when there is something for you to download and how to get the new effect. If it is too distressing, please just disable the effect for now. Thanks.

    Baz..

I managed to take a look at the effect before I went to work and it calls 2 bmps.. fx_1 and fx_fireAdd. I checked to see if I have the second one (I know I have the first) and I have 2 fx_fireadd.bmps. One is dated something like 2006 and the second (bracketed (2)) is 2016 vintage. Now I'm back.. I'll try renaming the old one to see if the newer one works

EDIT: Sadly.. it doesn't. Got loads of white smoke at the first start and thought I'd cracked it but soon after.. the black squares appeared. Shut down then restarted and it was exactly as in the sshot above. No prob. Will await the fix

how do you get the weapons bombs and rockets to show.. I see them in the aircraft cfg and the fuel and payload screen but not in the sim? I'm using P3d

I find reading the manual helps. Press Shift+1 to bring up the options panel.

Thanks, Baz. New effects work fine.

Took a night flight yesterday. Great job on the VC lighting. And on hiding all the nav aids. Clever.

If at first you don't succeed, try, try,try again. ... or go read the manual.

A great big thank you to all concerned; this is a truly outstanding model beautifully rendered. One thing though (btw, got the fixes and the message about the prop...); when the flaps come down speed drops like a stone and the nose goes down dramatically so that the approach appears to be flown at a considerable negative AoA. Round out seems to be a matter of bringing the nose up level as she settles, otherwise you're pointing directly into the dirt.... Great for visibility over the nose but is it right?? This is an external with the VSI showing 0.

Seems a bit extreme to me, or have I missed something in the manual?? (Probably!!)

I'd hope that's not how the model flies: the Pilot's Notes (A.P. 1804A-P.N.) state no change of trim to be expected on flaps down. You haven't raised the radiator flap too? The P.N. states that will drop the nose and that radiator flap should be down with flaps down.
