    RAF Leconfield

Team SDB has released a new Lightning-era version of RAF Leconfield (EGXV) for FSX and P3D.

The default installation has a full flight line of early-model static Lightnings (and a few AI), but an alternate version of the AFCAD and traffic file is provided that is full of parking spots for you to use Michael Pearson's Lightnings.
Personally, I'll be editing these and using John Young's variants.

The AFCAD has all the parking spots set with parking codes, so I may remove them.

The airfield is available from the usual vendors.

    Thanks for the HU Dave

Should I be getting this (and the chances of me NOT getting it are slim).. I hope you'll make your modded files available

Do you know if it's compatible with GenX?

.....and in one corner of the airfield...... this is what happens if you don't eat your greens.

I use default FSXA scenery (ORBX in P3Dv2), so can't comment on GenX.

Good to see the team supporting P3D v 2 and 3. I have purchased three or four in fsx. Price is reasonable and the scenery very good. Hope they upgrade older releases to P3D later versions.

Just had a look at FSPS and it says 'aligned with VFR Photographic scenery' so this will be a go-er when I get back from the opticians

I'm setting Leconfield up as a satellite of Binbrook, so I've got LTF F3/T5 aircraft doing touch'n'gos in the circuit.
I am a bit concerned about the number of trees, though.

As am I.. and many of them are on the disused runways. I've posted a support ticket to them.

There's an issue using John Young's Lightnings with this scenery.
All the parking spots - bar one - are not wide enough for the Lightnings. There's enough space on the ground, but the defined parking spots are set at just under five metres. John's Lightnings require parking spots of seven metres in diameter.

This isn't a fault with the scenery, so I won't be reporting it as such.

I have adjusted the parking for my own use but can't offer my mods as an update, as you will understand this is a commercial product.

I suggest you use Michael Pearson's Lightnings instead, as suggested in the product. They don't have this issue.

They look great mate. I'll have to blow the dust off ADE and change the size of the parking spots

I take it you're not seeing the trees shown in my screenies.? I'm thinking there shouldn't be any at all inside the perimeter other than those around the hangars and domestic quarters. No reply from SDB yet but if I can work out how to make an exclude, it should be possible to get rid of the extra woodwork

It's probably only the autogen trees you'd need to suppress.

Yup.. not sure if they're SDB or Treescapes. UK2K VFR3 Leconfield was sitting on there previously (which has been completely removed) so I'll have to check and see where they're coming from.

The trees you see Dave are from your addon tree program. If you look closely you'll see they match the modern tree plantations on what is now the Logistics Corps. base. Disable that and the trees will disappear. Any exclude that I make won't take those out as, like the GenX scenery, they are a layer above mine. Here we hit the major problem with 60s era airfields ie. they don't always match what is there today and that is what you see in GenX. Unfortunately I, nor incidentally does Jon Masterson, know how to make an add on photo tile sit above the GenX. Actual alignment is very near spot on. See the two pics. GenX and Vanilla FSX

    Hello matey

Yup. I took the SDB Leconfield off and put the UK2000 VFR part 3 version back to see what happened and the VFR Part3 scenery suppresses the trees. I'll have a word with George to see which file does the suppressing and see if we can't get this sorted

    Problem sorted...

IF users have GenX and UK2000 VFR3 with treescapes installed.. copy EGXV_GroundFSX.bgl from the UK2K Vol3 scenery folder to the SDB Leconfield/Scenery folder before disabling UK2K Leconfield. This file successfully kills off those unwanted trees. For those using GenX and treescapes without UK2K Vol3.. the only thing I can suggest is to try and make an exclude. Treescapes is the culprit.

EDIT: George tells me that the problem is (was) that the Treescapes trees are tied directly to GenX which leaves 2 options to get rid of them. Add another hi-res tile to effectively sit on top of the original (in this case EGXV_GroundFSX.bgl) or remove the associated AGN file/s. Easy to say but not easy for a dimwit to do!

I've had mine for years Ian and it's been dragged from PC to PC more times.. any accompanying info it once had is now gone. End result.. not sure who's it is.

BTW.. I'm seeing a lot of glass tearing. Not sure if this is a consequence of the UK2K ground.bgl so will remove it and see if the tearing goes with it.

    Ian..

Had a dig and I'm pretty sure mine is by Ted Harrison. It's for FSX.. blended to work with GenX and is available at ARM computers.. http://www.arm-computers.co.uk/Airfi....html#Binbrook

You need certain external files to make the scenery complete but you've probably got them all anyway.. Ted's Hangars e t c.

Hmm.. it's not EGXV_GroundFSX.bgl causing the glass tearing. They still tear without it there.

Dave.. you seeing the static Whirlwind glass as chrome? Wonder if this is non-default env maps being used (Bananabob's)?
