    "Why should I donate?"

As I type this we are at 66% of our goal. Many members might ask themselves "why should I donate?". I believe there are many reasons to donate and here are some that come to mind:

Charter members get faster downloads and are allowed more downloads per day.

We can keep SOH advert free as a donation site.

Many modellers and repainters upload to SOH and value our members judgement as informal beta testers.

Many modellers and repainters announce the release of their works on SOH, so chances are you'll see it here first!

Below are some examples (there are many more) of aircraft and repaints you saw here first...

Not making a claim to be that great a painter, but I always upload to here first. Then a couple of days later to other sites. And some stuff just stays here.

Any repaints I do (and that's not many) are always uploaded here. Flightsim.com may get them later.

    As others have stated above...

I only post my work on SOH, exclusively. That is the way it will remain as I have no plans, nor inclination to participate in other forums. The people here are rock solid and have earned my respect and confidence, a matter which I approach very seriously.

I, for one, am grateful for the wealth of knowledge that members here have shared with me over the last few years, allowing me to achieve a modicum of expertise that I otherwise would have never achieved. I owe these members a significant debt of gratitude.

Thanks JD However, Rich it's Manfred's C117, so you'll need that model.

Well, I think it's only right that every SoH member should contribute to something that we get so much enjoyment from; if for no other reason than to help towards the running costs of this site AND as a way of saying thank you for all the hard work put in (a lot of which comes free!), and it's very much appreciated all the effort the Admin guys put to making SoH so good!
    Thanks Guys!

Precisely. I over the years have gained so much from this site (having been introduced way back by Tim Conrad) and I've contributed as I do every year as feel it is only right to do so. This year sees a marked change for me as I currently don't use any simulator, as have returned to real world aviation. This is all to change soon, as my current employers are going into the simulation market with a new product. And now I have to buy new kit after selling all my old controls!

Please donate if at all possible.

    Thanks,

    Martin

Donated today not because of any exclusives, but because I love the community here and want to see it continue.

Very good question Roger, even though the answer is so simple.

If you want to enjoy an amazing flight sim community, and home of many great repainters, sound magicians and airplane modelers, then this is the place to be.

Do you like the fact that you don't see commercial banners and advertisements every time you click a subject or thread?

Running a forum like this costs money, and without donations commercial options will have to be explored.

I donated, because I consider SOH my flight simming home.

If you feel the same way then skip two Starbucks visits this week and donate! Yeah, that is all it takes.

    Happy Flying,

Due to 'real life' things, such as emigrating to another country, battling migraines, traveling and working in other domains to make up for not being retired yet I don't visit FS forums much anymore.

But WHEN I do, it is the SOH forum........ so there ;-)
