Sad news! I hope his contributions will remain on here as a memorial.

Just read the news. I had so much hoped he could beat the cancer. One of the most generous and self-sacrificing of our community.

You go with our love Ron. Few of us will be half as missed as you are.

To hear that someone in the community has passed on is always sad. To hear that someone so central to this corner of the community has gone hurts that much more. I never had the pleasure of meeting him, only having exchanges with respect to the membership drives each year. It makes it all that more important to contribute this year than any, to ensure that the legacy of 'Ickie' lives on in the Outhouse.

Just made my contribution to the 2017 Drive...

    Blue Skies to you Ickie!

I am very saddened that Ron passed on. Considering what he went through with that dreaded illness he is out of his misery. I have lost some family members to cancer (I'm sure that others here have too) and it is very difficult thing to see them go through. Ron put up a great battle to stay with us, however it appeared to have been getting very bad for him.

Thank you for your friendship Ron and RIP. I wish there could have been more time for you to be with us.

My sincerest condolences to his family and friends.

    Regards,
    Gary

    Rest in Peace Ron.

I'm not sure he actually liked Guiness, but his squirrel did, so have one on me
(heck, have one from all of us. .)

    Godspeed good man.

    High Flight

    John Gillespie Magee, Jr

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth,
    And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds, --and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of --Wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there
I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air...
Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue
I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace
Where never lark or even eagle flew --
And, while with silent lifting mind I've trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

    God Bless you Ickie!

Bummer! 2017 starting as bad as 2016!

I was just getting ready to send Ickie a PM and check on his condition and see if we're to send contributions for SOH to him. RIP ickie, my sincere condolences to family and all friends and acquaintances. You'll be missed my friend.

This is really sad news. As soon as he shared that his health had turned serious, there hasn't been a day that's passed, when I haven't thought about how he was doing.
There are several flightsim sites that I routinely check, but SOH is one of only 3 that I make sure to stop by at least once everyday.
Ickie seemed like a gentle soul that was always in the back ground, keeping the heart of SOH running smoothly.

    RIP Dear Sir.

Goodbye and good riddance 2016! I'm going to miss Ickie, he did so much for this community, I can only hope that he knew how much he meant to us. My heartfelt condolences to his family and friends. He gets his own wings now, he most certainly earned them.
