    RTW 2017 Race Practice #0.1

    So I'm thinking positive!

    Start/End ICAO = HSFS (Sudan)

    Rules:

    1. Lets just use this thread to post our practice flights. Get the rust off. Make sure the duenna is working.
    2. Just keep the baton moving generally in some direction that ends up back at HSFS, given oceans and land masses.
    3. Max leg length 700nm, unless declaring "wildcard practice", in which max leg length is 2000nm
    4. No time limit on legs.
    5. Aircraft type=any.

There is normally a leg nm limit for normal legs. Usually around 700 nm. The idea was to allow more people to fly, back in the days when we had more than five pilots, lol. Also makes you get out the map and plan your leg.

ETA about 30 minutes. Flight is a little longer than expected since I was planning on an 800 mile hop. Oh well, consider it a fuel economy test as well.

    baton free HSPN

fekk, not only was it too long, but a little over 1 minute overtime. Guess you can disregard it.

Anyone know what this error is ?

No time limit, and the NM limit is ok. No worries, as they say down under. Not sure about the error. Will investigate.

TY, figured out my error, all fixxed now.

I understand the FSX cfg file file in Win 7 is located here:

    C:\Users\[your computer name]\Appdata\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\fsx.CFG

I suspect the FS9.cfg file would be located here:

    C:\Users\[your computer name]\Appdata\Roaming\Microsoft\FS9\fs9.CFG
Baton free, who'se the next victim ?

    Baton HSPN to OEPS
    SOH F7F-3

    FlightLog_10-30-08.TXT

Working on grasping all the processes, so did not announce beginning of flight in case things went sideways.
I got the under 700 miles in under 2 hours rule while not running out of fuel, and hopefully headed in a useful direction...
Definitely need to brush up on flight planning skills though.
Had some mesh issues with the runway at OEPS so landed on taxiway.

    Baton is free at OEPS

Paul, I maybe out of line on this, but most of the pilots who sign up are, in my estimation, are mostly good pilots. To me main thing is the hand offs. I realize that it would be hard to get a few pilots together for this type of practice. As Moses would say "just my 2 cents worth."

A good point Jim, but it's been a few years since we've had enough pilots during a practice to practice hand offs! In this case, I figured it could at least be a place to post duennas, and test that all the bits and parts of a race leg are working: green duennas, connecting to the server, real weather, realism settings, etc. Besides, with only three pilots in the race we'll get real good at hand offs..!

Hi There, going to try to do some night flying. OPJI to OPMR Flying the Mosquito NEA. me hope I will make it. hehe

  20. #20
Hey how about this. Baton is free at OPR. Clear skies until we cross over land and then thick fog. Made a number of passes before being able to land. I sure did get some practice night flying on this junket. But fun

Right then, I have the baton at OPMR heading to VABP in the Milton F7F-3.

Not flown FSX for 10 months, and it's dark in India, so this may or may not go well...

Despite testing that my flight yoke was properly working before the take-off roll, it wasn't working when I needed to rotate. Quick switch to auto-pilot managed to get me airborne before I ran out of runway.

And now the FSX real-world weather has died on me. I've switched to FSrealWx Pro, mid flight.

    ETA 40 minutes.
