    The Milviz Bamboo Bomber Released

In the late 1930’s Cessna saw a growing need for an inexpensive, light twin. The popular twin of the day, the Twin Beech, was fairly expensive and was often oversized for roles with small businesses or occasionally, small charter airlines. First flown in 1939 and reaching production in 1940, the T-50 Bobcat was of fabric-covered steel-tube construction featuring retractable main landing gear and electrically actuated trailing edge flaps. With the wing structure built up of laminated spruce spar beams and its fuselage faired with spruce stringers, it gained the nickname, “the Bamboo Bomber.”
The Bobcat quickly found great success as a military multi-engine advanced trainer and utility transport; its wood construction was ideal since it didn’t require diverting a lot of valuable aluminum from the war effort. Over 4600 airframes went into service with US forces, with another 640 flying with the RCAF and the BCATP. Not used for long in post-war service, remaining military Bobcats were declared obsolete by 1949.
The ready availability of surplus T-50’s (available at the time for less than $3000) meant that quite a few made their way into civilian life, finding use in many areas of commercial and private aviation.
The Bobcat also found cinematic fame on the 50's television show Sky King, where a T-50, named Songbird, was flown by the lead character (one of which used on the show was the actor’s own aircraft) until replaced later in the series by a Cessna 310B.

Edit: checked the screenshots on the Milviz page and it had pics of all six. Looking good!

And they controlled themselves not to fill the dashboard with GPS, FMC and WX Radar. Toast to that!

I think that Ramp Rat who forgot to put the portside cap back on after refueling better run real fast when I get back to the FBO!

The cap has been found and put back on. Actually, it was in the model but for some reason wasn't being drawn in the sim.

No. A decision was made to not show any pilot/pax figures in the VC at all. They are of course selectable via the in sim toolbar tab or MVAMS prior to launching the sim.

Probably a silly question, but how do you get the pilot/people to appear in the external model?

I have no tool tips showing. Setting mixture and prop settings isn't possible. Is there a fix?

They are selectable via the in sim toolbar "Add-ons" tab or MVAMS prior to launching the sim.

Tooltips are coded properly but for some reason aren't being acknowledged by the sim.

All throttle, prop and mixture lever's knobs are mousable using Left-Click + Drag fore/aft. There is also an invisible mouse point inbetween the throttle lever knobs and the prop lever knobs that will allow you to "drag" both levers simultaneously.

Regarding the mixture levers, fully up is full-rich, fully down is full-lean/cutoff.

Flying the "Beam" is going to contribute to my Aviation induced hearing loss but I'm grinning like a mad-man!! This is a Wonderful, Fun Airplane to Fly around. Single Engine work is humbling like the real thing supposedly is. Hope the repainters have fun with this one.

Thank you for the reply, Bill. Unfortunately I'm not getting the Add-ons tab (this is a fresh FSX Accel. install on Windows 7), and the MVAMS doesn't seem to have any effect either (such as the cold start vs. already running).

Were you asked to approve several gauges when you first loaded the aircraft? Are you running FSX/A as "Administrator?"

If neither of the above help, then please take this issue to our support forum so the proper person(s) can assist you. I just swing wrenches, fix the plane's systems, and sweep the hanger floor.

Thank you for your time, Bill. I will start a support forum topic once I can. I did do a Windows 7 optimization last week, which I don't know if any of the changes made would cause a problem. I did get the messages to approve the various gauges, and I do run the game as administrator, but it remains (I even deleted the FSX.cfg to force the re-approvals of the gauges, but still the same).

Really looking forward to flying the range but despite going through all the stuff at DC-3 airways I'm getting nowhere. No audio at all from the receiver. No tool tips make it very hard to try to tune.

I hope the manual is released soon. Should have come with the plane I think?

    Cheers,
    Steve

Did you let the radio's tubes warm up? Did you hear any static noise? Did you try turning it completely off and then back on again?

Yes to all, Bill. No sound at all. Watched the video on the Milviz site and thought I had it understood. Auto and manual. Restart sim.

Also for me, panel lights worked on the initial run but not since.

    Thanks,
    steve

    Bill:
Any chance for a standalone LFRR system/scenery? I'd love to put this into a DC-3.

If you encounter problems with the lighting system, may I suggest looking at your anti-virus program.

My anti-virus doesn't like the milviz_lighting_service.exe file and tends to quarantine it. I have to 'exclude' it from any virus searches and make some changes to insure it doesn't detect any 'false positives.'

Just thought I'd pass that on.

If at first you don't succeed, try, try,try again. ... or go read the manual.
