Maybe some time in the future a P-70 night fighter could be done (a modified A-20) and bless us with a not so well known aircraft. With the new P-61 Black Widow and the the new and upcoming Beaufighter night fighting never looked so good. Thanks to all involved. Regards,Scott

Here's a pic of the P-70 Don't mean to get off subject . Just love all things night fighter related. Now if we had better radar i'd be in hog heaven.

Ah yes, the P-70 would be a perfect add-on for RS.

The same aircraft is also known as the A-20 Havoc export version is known as the Boston. The P-70 is based on this aircraft. The closest thing we have now is the A-20 special ops version found here at SOH.

    A-20

Didn't someone make a A-20 a while back? The Boston would be cool since early on they housed a spotlight in the nose to illuminate German intruders....we have this capability.

Ed Wilson did one, but I don't know where the GMAX source has gone. A Boston Turbinlite would indeed be fun...

My Shop teacher had flown the A-20 in combat and loved the aircraft. Many years ago i built a model of the P-70 and found it interesting as was the P38 night fighter if i remember correctly .

Milton Shupe is making an A-20 and P-70 for FS9 at the moment (check the forum). He has always been forthcoming with helping get his models into either FSX or CFS2, maybe when it's done he would share his sources.

    Jamie

There was also a p-61 project for FSX underway some time back, looked pretty good, dunno if it got to a stage where it may be of some use to you guys, but if you search the FSX forums for Black Widow/P-61 it should turn up the dev thread.

David C Copley is the chap you should speak to then, he has done many Lightnings over the years for various versions of FS.

He very recently resurfaced after an extended hiatus. http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforum...g-*this*-again

Hey Scott, I enjoyed it... great pix of the A-20 as a P-70! I've always loved the paint jobs we came up with for night fighters in the varied attempts to make 'em disappear in the wee wee hours

Getting back to the Beaufighter, that's very interesting about the different tails. I found a few pictures too now that show Is and a single picture of a II that has the dihedral tail. I assume that these were later modifications of the more long-lived aircraft as the official change wasn't introduced until the VI.

Jaycee made a P-38M a few years ago, it lacks the second cockpit but has the flame suppressors and radar:

It's a shame he hasn't been around in a while, he's really contributed some great add-ons to the game, I believe he even had some F-5 Recon variants in the works along with some French/Australian skins too.

What is a good book on the Beaufighter series ? So many variants make it hard to keep up with the series. Looking forward to this aircraft as night fighters is one of my top subjects. Thank you for bringing this aircraft to the CFS3 fans. Would like to find a link for online or ISBM code for book. Thanks,Scott
