Thread: Monty's C-47 (1948) wip!

Sorry for delay... life stuff, very much disappoint with people, but hey here is an update using stuff I've learned from master Photoshop experts who do aircraft.

Focus was on the cowls and center wing area... more to do as more to learn is applied.

That level of detail is.. well.. stunning! Taking nothing from the other two shots, the underside is, for that type of weathering and wear, the best I've seen.

    Nice one Ted

He's a funny guy, but incredibly talented though.

Next step is how to apply flying oil from the radials bleeding all over it.

    Ted-

I will fly this one a lot, and so I APPRECIATE your rivet counting. She will be quite something!

    Best- C

PS- Did she have "whiskers" in real life?

Looking at cargo doors, there were a few configurations (rivets) that I could do and not sure what model or year made the difference, but did this one.

Didn't know about this until recently when it was pointed out by Master Photoshop expert what I can do by applying this 'fx' method to some of my layers. What a difference!

This thread is very much (for me at least) like spending time in a fine art museum and marveling at the artists skill and ability, not to mention his subject. Then, upon leaving, having the attendant present you with one of the originals, free of charge!

    +1

And it is so interesting reading as the master (Ted) learns something new.

Just think what if I had one of those digital drawing pads... drawing freehand instead creating a path with the pen tool. Besides this is much easier than creating those radial sound sets. Anyways looking forward to your adventure on the B-26, should start a new thread.

A real master would have had this done in few hours! But really appreciate the vote of confidence. Off to create a few new brushes for those hard spots.

    Yes, R&R is important too!
You can find most of my repaints for FSX/P3D in the library here on the outhouse.

Baby (hotty) said it wasn't shinny enough so... little env boost... just a little.

Also corrected that little window. Just a reminder, haven't added the booties as it is required on this aircraft.

Woah, easy there...it was meant as a compliment!
Mind you, there are not many occasions to actually count rivets in FSX, so Ted's work is more than welcome for those sleepless nights.

Tailspin45 (team member) will be at the Flabob DC-3 fly-in May 20-22 and will be bring his camera so will have some nice detailed pics.

I've beveled the black hole in the nacelle. Main focus was on that back panel detail work and lining up those three rows of rivets.

Ill be there also! cant wait. Also we have a DC-3 sitting here at our field (without tail, wings, and engines.) but if you need pics of the fuselage I can get something for you.

  24. #99
Thanks tankerguy. We have two guys (David and Alexander), who are on the team that have access to a C-47 and DC-3.

The C-47 is in the process of being restored to flying status and the Breitling DC-3 is going on its World Tour soon.
