    South East Asia w.w.2 scenery?

    Hi,

I'm working on a repaint of a Beaufighter Mk.X of No 27 Sqn RAF which fought over Burma against the Japanese during world war 2. Is there any scenery made with airfields for Burma or SEA for the ww2 period? Or any similar looking ww2 Asian scenery?

    Thanks!

    Best regards

I have scenery covering WWII China, Burma, India, Malaya and NEI. Do a search on CBIXv1. Contact me direct if you have problems.

I know it isn't exactly what you're looking for but didn't Roger Wilco make the "Slot" scenery? It's close to PNG. Although I would love some WW2 PNG bases.

    BTW, love the textures.

Need some Australian Beaufighter paints then :-)

The CBIX scenery pack is indeed a good find. Far from super detailed, but it more or less cover all allied airfields in the Indian and Burma region. Which makes x-country flights over this forgotten theatre of ww2 quite interesting.

Trying to research a Beaufighter VIf with the thimble radome from 176 Sqn. KW977 which scored the last Beaufighter kill of the war is an interesting bird, but I have found no picture of the real aircraft. It was probably in the standard nightfighter scheme of grey and dark green and with the SEAC roundel. From the few available pictures of 176 sqn Beaufighters it seems that few had the white SEAC stripes on the wing and tail. It might also have had an individual aircraft letter code.

I made in extension or addition to Alex's CBIX 2 years ago or so. It stalled, unfortunately, due to me having massive problems with my eyes in that time. It covers Kunming, San Hu Pa, and Myitkyina North and South. I have to check on the compatibility with FreemeshX, but I think it is pretty complete for a release.

    That would be great!

Any advice on the best vector files to get the coastlines around SEAC more realistic?

I am pretty comfortable flying SEA (and other asian areas) in the following configuration:

    - FTX Global Vector
    - FTX Base Landclass textures
    - Scenery Tech Landclass Asia (very recommendable as far as I am concerned)
    - FreemeshX Global (also very recommendable)

In my WIP Laos scenery, I already inserted over 60 lakes over north Laos and the border of Thailand with realistic shorelines and elevations, so the inland part will be covered and useable for realistic VFR navigation.

Any problems with running both FTX base landclass and scenery tech asia?

Sounds like an interesting side project like Chodo. I have read a lot about the area in "Jungle Ace - Gerald R. Johnson", who flew the P-39 there. Would be nice for a certain P-39 we are patiently waiting for. I'll put it on my list after Laos!

No. The FTX global base pack is just textures with annotations. Scenerytech Asia defines where which landclass is visible on the ground.

    Burma Banshees

There is a ton of information on this P-40 Group by a Google Search and I believe back when I was flying in the 80th FG-VA gone now that there were some nice repaints for the A2A P40 of the Banshees. I've flown Manfred's C47 in the CBI and got the CBI medal from the 91st BG. The Banshee Noseart differed from aircraft to aircraft if you look carefully. Mike's Repaints has three of them and there is a nice article over at the A2A Forum on the Banshees P-40 sadly with the stinkin' photobuckets banners across the once free photo posts.

Anyone wants to fly together over in SE Asia, post here when and I'll join you if I can that day. Great looking Beaufighters!

Thanks! I think I only got around to release the Banff Strike wing Beaufighters and not the SEA ones.

Have a look at RAW GRIT PNG BUSH PILOT EXTREME BUSH TREKKER COMBO PACK. Even though it's modern day it gives you lots of PNG mesh and mountain airfields. The package is fairly old but I think it's still available here: https://islandsim.com/png-bush-flying.html

I use it in combination with Mark's excellent Solomon' V2 package.

Also check out CBIXv1 for some Burma scenery. CBIXv1 Update.
