Here they are. Realism sliders on full.

If the flight profile needs modification let me know.

BTW, these files are built for Steam so they might need adjusting for FSX. If so let me know. These files have lots of changes; corrected fuel tank amounts and locations, flight tuning, added stations (crew), adjusted contact points, corrected airplane geometry and flaps. Sorry, no leading edge slats, not built into model. Lots of tweaks to the airfile.

Forgot to mention, I added the throttle pop up from the MS DC-3 to my 2D panel because I wanted to add trim gauges. If anyone has questions about the Hampden, I should be able to find answers being that I got my hands on the Pilot's Notes and the Aircraft Maintenance Manual.

Appreciate the effort you've gone to here, Mal. Thank you for sharing.

Hopefully it flies better than it did.

    Hi,everybody
I donīt want to crash this thread, but when mal998, roger and DaveB talk about Alphasim fdes I have to ask! Intruder (Thanks mal) and He111 (not sure
who did that) are now a real joy to fly.
Are there any fdes for the Albatross and B-24 around?

    Cheers, Thilo

  9. #34
I'm pretty sure I did both the Intruder and the He111. If you open up the aircraft.cfg there should be a notation at the top. Regarding the Albatross, open up your aircraft.cfg and tell me what version is listed. I believe I sent an updated version to Phil some time ago. Probably version 1.6.

As far as the B-24 goes I started to update it, but I never finished it. Time permitting, I'll take another look at it.

Updates are not just a matter of fiddling with the airfile. I like to pull out the manuals (particularly the maintenance manuals) and re-vamp all the numbers. Once those are updated, it's on to tweaking the airfile. That's where the real fun begins.

Unfortunately, all those numbers normally do not always correspond with how an aircraft behaves in the sim. It's more a case of Voodoo flight dynamics, as much an art as a science. Without having flown a real aircraft there's always a lot of dependance on the manuals and how they describe flight characteristics. Numbers do not always translate.

How about some feedback on the Hampden? Remember, it's only me tweaking and testing. Without feedback I have only my own results to depend on. Not always the same as what others experience. Call it "community testing".

  10. #35
    Hi,mal
thanks for your response! The way you describe the process is what I feared. Regarding the Hampden I can give no feedback cause I donīt own it.
The Albatross cfg has no version note, it reads "last updated 19 May 2009 by Shane O."
    Thanks for your clarifications!

    Cheers, Thilo

Still waiting for PCAviator to provide the update (?) - altho I guess I could load up your fdx files in the original while I'm waiting . . .

Still waiting for the updated version at FSStore also. Maybe they're not sending the file to Australia .

  13. #38
Well Australia is a long way from Cricklewood I guess
. . . but in this instance I purchased from the US PCAviator store.

  14. #39
I guess you could send Phil an email and let him know what's happeneing. Maybe he can speed things up?

No real rush on my end. Unfortunately I have had to contact developers directly on several occasions when the Aussie stores have failed to update products, even months after they have apparently been sent. The developers, especially Milviz, have been pretty helpful when I have requested updates because the vendors have failed to keep the products updated. They have supplied several updates for products when they really didn't have to, although it was somewhat reluctantly, as understandably they stated it was the vendors responsibility.

I have also contacted vendors on several occasions and usually received an equal level of support from them regarding updating their products and servers. I just can't understand why it isn't done more frequently and automatically without a special request for a product to be updated. At least the Aussie stores will actually reply quite quickly, and help out with any issues.

I had a bad experience with Simware where for months I was trying to get Drzewiecki Designs products I had purchased updated, and they failed to even respond to my messages directly to the store or via email. They even failed to respond to Stanislaw Drzewiecki after he also emailed them regarding the same updates, following my post on the DD forums. To this day those products remain at version 1.0 when DD have released updates up to around version 3.2. I will obviously never be purchasing from them again.

No idea what's going on at PC Aviator. No response to my email from almost a week ago, and sales that were supposed to end July 11th are still running. Maybe everyone's on holiday...?

I have to say that I'm disappointed in PC Aviator.

I've emailed them twice regarding the Upgrade since I bought the Hampden on 6 July. And have yet to receive a reply on that subject.

Yet they obviously have my details, as there has been no shortage of emails (7 to date!) from them promoting various products and deals.

Still awaiting a response from FlightSim Store. I got an ad email from them the other day showing their new products and the Hampden was advertised. I thought "Yes, now the update should be available". I went to my downloads and downloaded the installer, and it was still the old version. I then looked at the product they were advertising as the "new" Virtavia Handley Page Hampden for FSX and saw the installer size was different to my existing version.

They have taken the upgraded version and are advertising it as a new product, and it is twice the price of the original 2004/FSX version, which is still also available. From what I read earlier in this post, the new version is not a new FSX model at all and is a reworking of the same 2004 model.

It is FsX native, but the basic model is still the old Fs9 version. If you can't obtain the free update from your vendor, contact Phil at Virtavia (tech.support -at- virtavia.com) with your purchase information.

I took Ferry's advice and emailed Phil at tech support Virtavia. Got an answer back within a couple of hours, with a link to the upgrade.
    Gotta luv the service!

So if anyone is still waiting for their vendor to get back to them, don't bother. Contact Virtavia. That's where the Service is.

Good to know Pips, I've been distracted with the new C47 release, but waiting to hear from PCAviator now nearly a month after Virtavia released the upgrade . . . hmmm (?!)

Version 2.1 now available @ (US) PCAviator
