Thanks Nick! All initials were done w/ a 7-10 nm point. Had to be at, or acquiring the altitude required at that point. (Didn't get too high anyway) If visual was guaranteed I would tighten up the initial a bit or go angled in. But you are correct sir! The speedbrakes on the Aardvark are "barn doors"! The Max Mach Assembly allows a speedbrake extension at 600 kts. (amongst a host of other restrictions) With the throttle cut at high speed and the barn door out one has about 6-10 seconds to get configured, MMA allowing, as the speed drops considerably in that time.
The video in post #5 shows the airbrake/main gear door extending.
