    Looks outstanding.

Forgive the dumb question - will this be available for FSX? I don't have P3D, so am not aware of how/if backwards compatibility operates vis-à-vis FSX.

    thx,

Well given its been 'announced' on an FSX forum, one would hope that question is null and void.

It was announced by another member, not Rob. On his site, he lists it under a tag that reads "P3D" - so to my mind, it's not a slam dunk that this is an FSX project.

    Hence the question.

Sadly, Delta, your question is reasonable. I'm just commenting on the potential irony.

Either way, this Sea Hawk might be just in time for christmas, hopefully.

Rob has certainly captured the smooth lines of this aircraft, one well worth waiting for.

Yep I'm looking forward to this one. I really hope the wings aren't mirrored, as this would make Dutch liveries impossible.

    Fingers crossed!

    Yum, yum

Rob asked where I got my Warpaint series from and I'm sure he's got a copy looking at that paint. With that in mind.. I doubt very much the wings are mirrored Huub

You are all in the wrong forum, its for P3D only at the moment.
I'm using the new "Blender to Prepar3D" tools by Ron Heartel and the P3D SDK 3.4.9.18400.
That is the only sim I use these days.
To get it into FSX is by no means straightforward but not impossible, given time.
The textures are not mirrored Huub, I've already had a go at a Dutch paint although I'll stick to FAA schemes when released ( lots to choose from ).
I'll leave the non "Brit" paintwork to the experts.

Thanks for the update Rob. That's both good and bad news. Great to hear the textures are not mirrored.

It was of course a matter of time that the first models designed specially for P3D would arrive. I guess this is the point where some of us need to learn how to get P3D models working in FSX.

    Cheers,
    Huub

Alternatively, get P3D. I use FSX and P3D. Best of both worlds. (ducks and runs for cover)
    Windows 8.1 64 bit
    P3D v3.4
    P3D v4.5
    FSX-SE
    X-Plane 11

Yes your right about the direction in which FS is going, having said that I have started on a conversion of the Sea Hawk for FSX but it will take a while, not quite finished the P3D version yet.
I hope maybe I can get both models finished at the same time.

Rob, I can assure you your efforts are highly appreciated! Although most people prefer the looks of the Hunter I always had a soft spot for this tiny little fighter. The last operational Sea Hawks from the Dutch Navy flew from NAS Valkenburg, which was only 6 kilometers from when I was born (and still live).

And Frog, you don't need to run as you are most probably right. But first I might need to invest in a new computer.

    Thanks,
    Huub

Glad to hear it Rob, waiting patiently.
I would go down the P3D path but I fly so rarely these days I don't know if I can justify it to myself... often months between flights

I thought we had left that episode already behind us. The post you quote is nearly 4 months old and in post 24 animal already apologises for his language.

Great news there will be an fsx version... very keen to see this in fsx. Have checked most weeks on progress as it is keenly looked forward to here.
