Been away for awhile but, has the ‘AI aircraft landing, and stopping, on an aircraft carrier riddle’ ever been solved?
Pacific Fighters was one of my favorite sims. Nice to see the series has new life.

Great reply, thanks.
I think that's a really good suggestion to practice with a simulator only 'after' you have been taught in the real thing, and using a similar sim model with accurate flight...
You guys are much smarter about this stuff than I was using the Mission Editor back in the day in CFS2. If I remember right, I was simply programming the AI to land on an 'airfield' at a certain time...
Interesting SB, thanks.
When the AI land on deck, slow down, but then veer off to one side or the other (usually starboard) and then roll off the deck, is that because the 0 velocity setting has...
AI Carrier Ops has been a long sought after feature for many years. I for one tried for several months on end to get an AI to take off (no problem), land (no problem) and then come to a stop on the...
Geez, if a sim that's only in 'early Beta' form already exceeds certain aspects of 'FULLY' developed P3D or FSX, can you imagine what a monster it's going to be when it too is fully developed, fully...
Thanks Ted.
Thanks guys.
As Victory103 pointed out, I purposely posted the same question in several forums, FSX, Prepar3D and X-Plane, in hopes that particular sims enthusiasts would comment.
It would...
Not specifically related to FSX but something many of us probably enjoy.......Mods, please move this thread to a more appropriate Forum if needed, thanks.
Besides Aviation, I love technology. A...
Excellent post John, well put.
Good points, I totally agree, thanks.
Thanks Ted.
In what ways did the sims help you the most? I assume ADS/VOR, Instrument flying and maybe airport/area topography.
The A2A Simulation Accufeel aircraft sure seem to be a popular...
Thanks guys.
I definitely know there is no substitute for actual, hands on flying, but I'm sure there could be other useful aspects of flight sims that could be of benefit, Instrument flying being...
Thanks everyone.
I agree that a flight sim is in no way a substitute for actual flying. As mentioned, things like ADF/VOR work, perhaps Instrument Flying and airport/topography familiarization...
I will be entering Flight School and wanted to know if a Flight Sim in 2016 can 'realistically' be used to help with getting my Pilors License. Having previously dabbled in flight sims many years...

I guess so. It's been awhile but I believe I was using the Mission Builder for all my testing.
Hi Rami.
Getting the AI to successfully take off from the carrier deck never seemed to be a problem, or even the landing for that matter. It was after landing, during that very last 50ft. or so...
Thanks Shadow.
Years ago, I spent countless hours, month after month, just figuring out Ai behavior and carrier ops. They will indeed land on a carrier, even moving carriers! I managed to get them...
Hi Blood Hawk.
Will those settings allow the AI to return, land and stop back onto the carrier?
Thanks! I'll give it a try.
