An interesting project. Selecting the 1963-1975 period allows for many aircraft that participated, not only in front lines, but also many that were just tested in the field.

Thanks - but I still feel I'm just the caretaker.... IT's Frank, Tom and the others that came up with the idea, and all the users over the years that have made it what it is!
All files *should* be up....
New ffds pages are up .... going through the actual files....
I've had gmax since it first came out with FS2002 Pro ....
My successful compiles have been from ported FSDS source files...

The approach(es) used by developers will vary depending on whether an FS9 model already exists or not.
If a model exists, the developer has to decide what (and how much) to convert. In some...
You might also want to look into the poly/cut tool in eMesh . I think it produces a "cleaner" cut than if done in ePoly mode.
The "cut" tool is also in gmax (quad menu and in the side tab rollouts)
I remember driving a brand new (rented) '72 Pinto on I-95 (northern Virginia), on the way to visit a cousin, and being passed by everyone - except that I actually passed another car - a Subaru 360!
O ye of little faith...

It's probably easier to export as a 3DS, and import into gmax. Tweak and compile from gmax.
However, Henry, it all depends on the type of beer.

The camera is there to make sure the pilots are piloting and not sleeping?

Suggestion - get the basics down of repaininting and unless you're an artist with your paint program, there's no substitute for learning the paint program (Paint Shop Pro, etc etc) up and down.

LIke all custom animations - the XML code is added to the modeldef.xml file, with the part keyframes and tagged/referenced to the XML code using the animation tool in gmax.

Thanks for my laugh of the day.
My domain is aerodynamika.com, but that's because I don't own freeflightdesign.com (FFDS). the actual FFDS forum is hosted on the aerodynamika.com site.

Doing it that way, yes, it is a two part process.
What Wozza suggests, though, is the one part process. A hidden gauge that sense the landing light status, then initiates the animation.
Wozza: Remember the FSDS2 "lavatory dump valve"?? (okay, so it's basically the water rudder animation, but sounds much better!)
Officer #1: Are you sure this is the list of FORUM troublemakers?
Officer #2: Of course! it has been thoroughly investigated!
Officer #3: But it is identical to the SOH STAFF names!

NickC, you're still ugly and a horrible sight to see in the morning, but we like you anyway!

But gentlemen - do not those incidents, by daffynition - make you "experts" in the subject?
Anyone can screw up easily enough - it takes an expert to do it with finesse - and then admit it!
To my understandiing, the license is to develop from the ESP 1,0 code, essentially the "core" engine common to both FS-X and ESP, and much more "open" to change and modification than FS-X already...
I suspect that these ESP licensing agreements include a specific prohibition on creating an entertainment simulator out of it, the same as the agreemetn with Lockheed Martin.
