I was at work and watched the U.S.S. Essex go by entering San Diego Harbor with that plane on deck with a couple of PBY's for company. Super cool to see. Sad that this happened.

A while back I posted some pics of my remake of this plane that I made many years ago. I have been busy learning Substance Painter and updating textures to use PBR. It is getting close to done. The...
Many years ago I did a rendition of the first plane my Dad made. At the time the one version I could not get right was the last on he made, which I consider his Magnum Opus. The issue had to do with...
I've been following Dean's work from the start, and it has been fun to watch his progress. While I enjoy my style of modeling there are times when I envy those that do not get so wrapped up in...
As a developer when I see this sort of thread I tend to get a bit unhappy..
It matters not the status of the model's author. If he stated you cannot screw around with his work then you are pretty...
It ought to, as I am not using any .dll gauges.
In the course of adding parts to the shell I started to have problems with things not fitting the way the pictures I have said they should. I also never liked the the wave in the sill piece that runs...
Wow Dean, that's really looking good! On the panel lines I use both maps, and I tend to favor being really subtle. The texture size and how parts are mapped also comes into play.
In this pic I have the port side trim panels in, and I am working on aft bulkhead frame work.

I have begun to work on the P-61 again. In order to get it to my current modeling standard there will be a fair amount of rework that needs to be done in the VC. Most of the work is needed to have...
For assorted reasons I have been running silent & deep here for a long time. Given the recent activity regarding the P-61 I guess it's time to surface and transmit a report on what I am up to these...
I guess I need to provide some sort of status regarding this project. Over time it became a very complex model. Exporting it became an issue to the point where I was actually spending a lot of time...
As I recall at the time I parked it the main problem had to do with successfully exporting the model as it had become fairly complex. That issue has been resolved, I still have all the files, and I...
I can't imagine any other image that could capture what Memorial Day is really about.
Thanks for posting this.
Even though all I have done for the last few years is read the forums I still kicked in my annual contribution. :encouragement:
Regarding the P-61...
Dave was correct in that I was having huge issues with compiling the model. Between that and the amount of time I had been working on it I had to take a break from the...
Prior to taking on a major commercial project I was well along on a rendition of a GC-1B version of the Swift. Having purchased and flown this plane and having done a lot of research for my model all...
It was annoying if it was riding the trough of the swell. Worst I saw was rounding the horn of Africa in '89. 55* roll to port at 3am. Made a big mess of things!
Each "state" also needs to have a visibility assigned to it.
I've been working on the Long Beach off and on for some time. I was on it from '89-'92.

Now that official pictures of the project have been posted by Eaglesoft I can let you see what I have been up to for the last several months! :wiggle:
These are pictures from FSX taken at dusk. The...
That's the way I did it tonight. Worked fine! :wiggle:
I'm really glad everyone is having fun with it. I'm keeping note of the comments made, thanks for the feedback.
It will be fun to finish it off after I get done with my commercial project.
BTW,...
