Thanks ! Here's a sporty little number ....
Well the horizontal stripes on the tail sure look Russian, but that,of course, could be a Red herring.......:jump:
.........or they could be American .......:unitedstates:
( clue : Anzani engine )
........ Its a precious little thing ....:costumed-smiley-034
The Williams Gold Tip, build by the Niles Aircraft Corporation? Forerunner of the Szekely Flying Dutchman :)
Exactly ! :icon29: your turn Sir .....
Ok! :) I don't think this one has passed here, could not find it, so here goes:
Shades of Koolhoven, but it doesn't seem to fit any of his known designs.
Certainly does not look American. I spent a chunk of time thumbing through German/Austrian/Swiss candidates...oops.
I understand yes, that wing indeed has a european look to it, the rest of the plane maybe a bit as well... But American it is! But there was something european about it: the powerplant!
Some more clues could be helpful to solve this mystery :very_drunk:
Surely that European powerplant isn't a Merlin! http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforum...ons/icon23.gif
It would have been way ahead of it's time then yes :P But no, the engine was a BMW :)
And operated by the world famous Potomac Flying Service!
In which case it should be the Berliner(-Joyce) SCM-2.

Apart from the registration nothing at all at aerofiles. :dizzy:
Nice find, albeit a bit lengthy :very_drunk:
as an aside Hoover Field is where the Pentagon is located now.
Chris
fabolousfour, completely correct yes! It is indeed Berliner SCM-2
Thanks. Here is a nice picture of a floater.
From a well known - but not very big - company.
From Europe.
The fame of the company bases largely on a single type which was built in larger (and in considerable) numbers than all other types of that company combined.
Stampe et Vertongen R.S.V.26-180 O-BADE.
Here she is as an Amphibie.
Well done, Mike! :encouragement:
It is the Stampe & Vertongen RSV.26/180 O-BADE, the only RSV.26 on floats :belgium:
