This is fun...NOT!
67kn cross winds! Had to drop down a bit to get less buffeting
Baton free at LGAV
Have baton, LGAV - HEMM, WBS P-51B.
Achieved cruise altitude. Over the Med. ETE 1:00.
Drained the fuselage tank down to 25 gallons. Switched to the wing tanks. Didn't fill up the drop tanks for this short hop across the lake. Brought them along though. Might need them sometime. 60 knot wind out of the west. Be nice if that was a tail wind... ETE 0:40.
Most of the legs will be props anyway, but... I wouldn't give up on the jets. They are a bit challenging. They need to be flown more "by the numbers" than the WW-II props, and they don't slow down very easily. And they overspeed as soon as your attention drifts away for a moment. Just takes a bit of practice, and that's fun! :)
60 miles, 15 min. Last post.
Oh, that was dumb. Did I check to see if there was lights at HEMM? No! Are there lights? Ha! No. That was a scary landing.
Baton is released at HEMM.

Hmm, I fell out of the sky, probably after a fuel issue. I need to remind myself how fuel management works in the F-86.

Are we flying south to Madagascar or east to say Oman and onward to Australia?
I have baseball practice for a couple of hours with my little league team in a couple of hours but should be able to pick up a flight later this evening or night.
I will keep an eye on it and try to jump in at least as a wingman dependent upon timing.
Lee
