:kilroy: He is saying that the French have always done a nice job on their special occasion paint schemes. It does sound a bit like a description of bottle of wine or an Impressionist painting. And I have to agree. :icon_lol: And that their squadron insignia (SPA badges) have origins going back to WWI units.

I think non-moving barber poles may indicate no electricity. Interesting in your images also the different coloring of the cockpit. Different ADI as well. The top one doesn't indicate heading.

Sorry I haven't read the entire thread but does anyone have any information on how the gear position indicators (set of three on left side of the panel) should look at various times? I know they say "UP" when the gear is retracted and they show stripes (barberpole?) other times. But is there a definite indication when the gear is in transition and when it is down and locked? Also when there is no electricity as in dark and cold startup? I'm talking about the real aircraft not so much what Alphasim might have done with their model although applying this info is the end goal. I don't have a copy of a pilot manual for the F-8 otherwise I'd dig in there. Any help is appreciated. :ernae:

The ATC entries are one of the first things I check for and anytime a developer lets me preview or beta test for them I always make it work right on my copy, test it, and then give them the info on how to fix it along with examples of why they would want to do it. So far they all seem to appreciate the feedback and I smile when I find my changes incorporated in the released product. It's really quite simple to get it right. And of course my repaints get the full treatment. I may not get the right textures in the right package (M3B_CEAM for example, twice) but the right ATC bits get in there. :icon_lol: :ernae:

The top one looks to be the Mirage IIIC by Isra. The ones below are the IIIS (and backdated IIIS), again by Isra. The two-seaters are the AI models by Mike Pearson. :ernae:

A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category FSX Skins Description: I was apparently too tired to be packaging and uploading files when I zipped up this set of textures last night. The M3B_CIFAS file set was ok but the M3B_CEAM set ended up with CIFAS texture files. So this fix will correct that. Sorry for the confusion and inconvenience. These textures are intended for use with the Mirage IIIB by Restauravia. They represent a Mirage IIIB assigned to the Centre d'Experiences Aeriennes Militaires at Mont de Marsan in July 1974. Created using paintkit by Philippe Penot. Repaint by Frank Safranek. I don't know if you can. As you said in your question it is an MDL file. That means it is a sim object, not a scenery object. Scenery, static things, are BGL format. But maybe there is a way? :ernae:

If you are talking about the effect of the AB then make sure the fuel pumps switches are on. (Item 3 on page 11). Look in the exhaust pipe at idle and then in AB. There is a lot of flame in there. Then look at the airspeed and fuel quantity gauges. The AB is working." If you are talking about a visual effect then there is an issue. I asked Restauravia about this. So there you have it. In the meantime perhaps try adopting the AB from the Skysim Mirage IIIE for night time.

I finally have the answer for you. The video by BeeGee is performed on the French Alps near the Mont Blanc, with a payware photo-realistic scenery of France VFR (Rhone-Alpes PhotoHD). I think someone else suggested that but it is now confirmed. Sorry that took so long. :ernae:

Thanks! I agree that the model has aged well. I find both the external and VC to be quite good. The color should be dark grey with a blue tint, don't remember the correct name. They were delivered this way to Norway from the US and they kept the scheme even after the transfer to the HAF. There are actually a few color shots, even if they are few, of the Norwegian HU-16Bs. Even several of WH-D http://forum.keypublishing.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=206648&d=1341767121

That was quick. I got an email from Andre in the middle of the night telling me it was now available to the public. I'm still downloading the paint kit and you've already got one finished. Oh wait, you're in the same time zone; eight hours jump. :applause: Looks geat in that lineup. ... After looking at the image some more let me change my comment. The Restauravia version is the camouflaged bird. The three bare metal IIIB's are the AI model by Mike Pearson. I can tell by the ladder he used in the front position. :ernae:

Sadly it isn't. A rework based on canard equipped versions was started but got sidetracked when he was hired by Aerosoft to do some work for them. That will be finished in a couple months so hopefully he will get back on the Mirage and other projects. Restauravia have plans to make a IIIC and IIIE following the IIIB. :ernae:

My system is an Intel "Bayfield" motherboard with a "Intel Pentium 4, 3.06 GHz Processor with Hyper Threading Technology". I'm not sure what that equates to anymore because I got it about nine years ago when working for a company that had software that was being bring bundled with the Intel motherboard boxes. They gave us a few complete systems to test with and this one somehow ended up at my home when we were bought out. Weirdest thing. I also have 3GB RAM onboard and an NVIDIA GeForce 7600 SE. Still running WinXP Sp2 with FSX Acceleration. Bottom line it is nowadays a low end system for FSX that is challenged by some of the more recent aircraft releases. But it handles the Virtavia A-4 with no problems.

Interesting, the model looks alright, but I also would like to see more realistic weapon variations as used by the user nations. Most if not all of the pictures you show with a full load of bombs are from weapon trials and not representative of what you would ordinarily see on the Eurofighter. The JF promo shots shows unguided rocket pods, thats something I have never seen on the EF... Just some thoughts on what looks like to be great model.

Yes they will -- I painted this one for Alphasim/Virtavia and can vouch that the texture mapping was identical in both FS9 and FSX. However, you will probably get better performance by converting them from BMP to DDS format unless the repainter did so already. My post-release Thud repaints include both FS9 and FSX format textures. http://www.mirage4fs.com/Alphasim/index.html#F-105 :ernae:

Hello, I just bought the old Alphasim, now Virtavia, Grumman HU-16 Albatross package and got tempted to put some Norwegian decals on her. Luckily for us Norwegians the package include the special SA-16B ASW (later simply called HU-16B ASW) model with the large nose radome and underwing weapon racks. The nose radome is a bit out of shape I believe, but overal a very welcome model to cover the link between the Catalina and the P-3 Orion in Norwegian service. It is painted as WH-D from 330 Sqn as it looked in the mid 1960's. And for the Viking title, not only is it a Norgwegian Albatross, but 330 Sqn had (and stil have) a viking ship in the squadron Crest.

After giving us the beta exterior back in 2011, Bruno (Thor's Hammer) started work on a DR400. From reading his blog I don't see that he has gone back to the Rafale. Has anyone combined it with any other cockpits besides the default F/A-18? If so please share. :ernae:

Installing direct to P3D is not an option with the installer. So yes, just copy over all the folders and files for the A-4 in FSX to their counterparts in P3D. That said, it should work in P3D but that was never the intent and you'll be hard pressed to find the text "P3D" or "Prepar3D" on the Virtavia website. So there may not be any tech support either. But if you have any questions, please ask. If you have any solutions, please share. :ernae:

Hopefully the sale is at other places as well? v1.1 was sent to all resellers this week. The .msi file you download will say ‘v1_1’. If yours doesn't try downloading again. There is no way to control how quickly the resellers freshen their files. :ernae:

I'll ask Phil. But anyone considering buying this or any other Virtavia title needs to buy it from FS Pilot Shop at flightsim.com because it is curently half off for another week (about $22 for the A-4). You can't go wrong with this model for that price. :ernae:
