panel for a Re 2001 whose profile and repaint I am working on... Wonderful repaint of that P-51 by the way... did you say something about it could be adapted to the FSX default one? If so, could you elaborate how?

to have generated mass confusion... :isadizzy::isadizzy: I think the quest is for a natural metal finish... and the model he has (payware) is done in extended bmp format with separate alpha reflective textures... which of course... do not show well within the confines of CSF2 texture limits... thereby the need for a ad hoc repaint to show reflective metal rather than dull gray (less actually) in CFS2. Our sim brother here is not probably very savvy of these facts, ergo his request for a repaint... as well as thinking a two-seater version could be used... Correct me anyone is I am wrong... At any rate... if the requestor sends me a PM with exactly what he wants to accomplish... I repeat my offer to help... mmm.. re-reading all the exchanges... I think I got the wrong idea... correct me if I am still wrong... The requestor wishes to use the aircraft in FSX it seems to me now.... (I confused requestors... for I am working on textures for someone who wants to fly a payware in CFS2) and wants that specific livery... Now then.... the suggestion of a payware model of the B makes sense indeed... Really, a freeware CFS2 B would be really re-inventing the wheel... begging everyone's pardon...

it is a two seat version!!! If I understand it correctly... you want a P-51B that can fly in CFS2... or am I wrong?

I don't know whether you have seen my work... but it is very painstakingly done... accurately and with - I think - a good bit of artistry... I would like to help you if you are willing to use a different model... I have several Bs that work fine in CFS2 and can be easily done... Sincerely, I do rather professional work and it would be a waste of my time to spend it "beating a dead horse" i.e. a Mustang that is totally inaccurate and can't be used by anybody else... In other words... good work gone to waste when it can be spent on an accurate recreation... I most certainly would do that livery for you on a good aircraft that works fine in CFS2... If you are still interested... I can do it for you... just drop me a pm...

Just before going to war, I decided to go visit my folks in Uruguay... so went to Travis and got a hop to Charleston AFB to catch the shuttle to Howard AFB to Panama and down there the "Andes Embassy Ride" to Montevideo... Well, the start was on a C-124 at Travis... Wow... going over the Rockies...and the crew chief advising not to move around and breathe "easy" because the aircraft was no pressurized... :icon_lol: A breathtaking view of the Rockies from those little portholes... in more ways than one :isadizzy::isadizzy::isadizzy: I would be more than glad to do it.... just drop me a PM

Not only hope, I KNOW this must be a joke... forget about ear protection, eye protection or gloves! The one thing never mentioned is that - should the saw turn on - this man stands to lose testicles, and worse yet... have his abdominal cavity split in two for all the contents to fall out! Otherwise, the comment is that of a person who can't see the forest for the trees..... not really sharp as a tack.... In the business I was in (anesthesiology) one had to prioritize... and testicles win hands down (no pun intended) against eyes, ears and hands...:isadizzy::mixedsmi:

A few years ago the Brazilian Da Silva bros came up with a very nice model of the NA AT-6 that however was rather primitive in the textures.... Here is an example of how far one can stretch the possibilities of such a model with a little patience and attention to detail... Before and after:

It reminds me of my old days in anesthesia residency... we used to say: "There are those who can do and do it... and then those who can't and teach...." You try your best and they always find something why it isn't right... :wiggle: At any rate... I can work the textures of gauges and do almost anything with them... add reflective glass, new faces, etc. and can place them accurately too... but that is about all I can do (I use config.sys program... similar to the one you mentioned)... What I would like is for someone to do "pop-ups" like a yoke pedestal that can be turned off to see the gauges behind it and pop back up for "looks".... gauges that do the same, etc. At any rate, we can try and see if you can produce something relatively good looking and functional... and put them up for those folks who want to used them... Thanks a lot for the offer...

I will be going to Schweinfurt for a few months in July... and have a friend in RAF Mildenhall (USAF) whom I will visit because it is really easy to travel Space A on the C-17 weekly runs... If you are not far from there it would lnteresting to meet an SOH acquaintance in person... Again, thanks for your attention and comments...

Yes, I would like to produce some good stuff with someone whose expertise with gauges and panel configurations would do justice to my work.... No, I am not interested in making any money... got plenty of that (I am a retired military officer who used to do anesthesia for a living both in the military and after I retired).... At almost 76 years of age... money is not really what life is about... health and wisdom are far more important... I own a house in Italy and one here in California both fully paid... so... in a nutshell... I would like to make a contribution for all those folks who cannot afford payware quality stuff... I have been using that program config.sys and can do an adequate job with it... but I do not know all the intricacies of mgx (or whatever it is) gauges, etc... just that I think I can best use my time on what I can do best... artwork... leave the serious stuff to those who know what they are doing.... Unfortunately, it seems that a lot of developers long in knowledge but a bit short on artistry... seem to be on some kind of ego trip... tried doing artwork for two or three guys... and they redo my work... where it looks very amateurish but suits what they think their panel should be... to little avail... I did some fantastic textures (modesty aside) for some people and they eventually produced a model they can say: model, textures and etc. by "Joe Blow"... and frankly their stuff looks like a mediocre copy of what I did... some are in too much of a hurry and do piss poor artwork... At the end of the day (to use a much overused cliche')... they have very fixed ideas and

Before and after views of one of Kazunori Ito's Messerschmitt panels... As it can be easily seen... there is a lot one can do to "rejuvenate" and "update" such efforts... unfortunately... no one seems interested in doing so.... I would still very much like to team up with someone to do some "payware" quality 2D panels... in the meantime... I keep on cranking them up...

You are absolutely right... with time... I can fool around to vary colorations... for now I just limited myself to take what someone started and bring it to a more believable level, albeit lacking in weathering, etc. Certainly something to think about adding to these panels... the are by no means written in stone... Thanks again for the attention to detail...

Actually, would love to do the backgrounds for VCs... for they usually are not very detailed and what detail they have is way out of scale... rivets like saucers, etc.
Unfortunately, I don't know much at all about the mechanics of doing a VC... any knowledge you can share will be also welcome
