I am pleased to say I have managed to get the newer Win7 computer set up.. Replaced the 300w power source with a 550w power source. Installed a 320 meg Nivida 8800 GTS video card to replace the 256 meg onboard video. Not a Big video card but a improvement from the onboard video. Transfered all the files to this new Win 7 machine from my E-machine.. Progress.. And there is much rejoicing! :applause: :applause: :applause:

I'm going to alternate German - Italian and see how it goes. :running: Mission 1 for the Italians checks out fine too - a furball! I'll try to get some screenshots of the next missions

Jagd: Forgive me if I'm wrong but I think you can't set wind in Mission Builder (MB). You have to set wind direction and speed in Free Flight (FF) along with altitude. Then you go to the FF section of the cfs2.cfg file and copy the wind data. Lastly, you paste this data in the weather section of the mission .mis file. If you reopen the mission in MB and save it again, the wind zeroizes and you'll have to cut and paste it again. I'm pretty sure this is explained with visual aids in Cody Coyote's Mission Builder Tutorial, found here: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/images/ldm-silk-icons/download.png

In Fort Walton Beach, Florida, the surviving Doolittle Raiders gathered publicly for the last time. They once were among the most universally admired and revered men in the United States. There were 80 of the Raiders in April 1942, when they carried out one of the most courageous and heart-stirring military operations in this nation's history. The mere mention of their unit's name, in those years, would bring tears to the eyes of grateful Americans. Now only four survive. After Japan's sneak attack on Pearl Harbor, with the United States reeling and wounded, something dramatic was needed to turn the war effort around. Even though there were no friendly airfields close enough to Japan for the United States to launch retaliation, a daring plan was devised. Sixteen B-25s were modified so that they could take off from the deck of an aircraft carrier. This had never before been tried -- sending such big, heavy bombers from a carrier. The 16 five-man crews, under the command of Lt. Col. James Doolittle, who himself flew the lead plane off the USS Hornet, knew that they would not be able to return to the carrier. They would have to hit Japan and then hope to make it to China for a safe landing. But on the day of the raid, the Japanese military caught wind of the plan. The Raiders were told that they would have to take off from much farther out in the Pacific Ocean than they had counted on. They were told that because of this they would not have enough fuel to make it to safety. And those men went anyway. They bombed Tokyo, and then flew as far as they could. Four planes crash-landed; 11 more crews bailed out, and three of the Raiders died. Eight more were captured; three were executed. Another died of starvation in a Japanese prison camp. One crew made it to Russia. The Doolittle Raid sent a message from the United States to its enemies, and to the rest of the world: We will fight.

I can't speak for jets, but for prop planes: The aircraft is close to the fantail... set park brake and pull back on the stick (this will help to keep you from "nosing over") while you increase power to full. Hit WEP and release the park brake and ease up on the stick. I have found that stock planes and many downloads do not have significant lift modeled in with the flaps. Ergo, all the flaps do in that case is increase drag and slow you down. Test the plane: while flying level, hit the flaps. Does it stay level or does it rise? If it rises then lift is modeled in with the flaps. If not, do not use flaps on take off. Special case: For 1% planes, follow the checklist and follow instructions on setting trim for take off. :salute: You can also increase the carrier's speed and/or add a headwind to the mission as stated above.

I think I narrowed the problem down to the SU_BF109F_2 and it's sister SU_BF109F_4. This seems to be the common denominator between the three missions where a crash occurs soon after the aircraft come within tracking or visual range. I tried adjusting the underscores _ and capitalization in folder name compared to the .cfg. I even tried original and optional skins, all to no avail. Since Rami and Kdriver can't duplicate the problem, I'm writing it off as another Windows 8 glitch. This ought to make testing the German side missions very interesting, whereas, I am told, these planes are used quite frequently in that campaign. Since this is so, and if I have the same problems again, I'll give up and pick it up with the Italian campaign portion of this set. Moving on...

Missions 12 and 13 went well. Mission 13 is a turkey shoot, but challenging nonetheless. Except for missions 8, 10 and 11 this concludes the Allied portion of the campaign set. Missions 10 and 11 went the same way as Mission 9. They hung up and crashed as soon as the enemy aircraft spawned in. Rami has said he'll work this out later.

I got hung up on Mission 8 - it crashed twice, right at the point that the enemy aircraft spawned in. Rami and I will sort that out. But in the meantime, I am flight testing the remaining missions as individual, single missions. Mission 9 went well and I'll be loading up and flying Missions 10 and 11 after lunch today. :salute: SW

Mission 6 is now survivable, provided you don't try more than 3 passes. :) Get in, hit hard and get out fast. I found that flying as a wingman, you sometimes "lose" the return waypoint. I did so here and had to fly 21o miles back to base with a heavily damaged bird. A great mission Rami! Now, on to Missions 7 and beyond!

I never use slew mode except when doing a vertical screenshot for a scenery texture background. That shot was right off the mission in Pause mode. In the past, other folks have told me that is a result of something in the dp that is screwed up. I can't do mission 6 yet - some missing parts to gather.

I should re state this..I will have a XDP that will correspond with ETO 1.40.. This way it will limit the need for additional files to be installed. That is My hope at this point for the Hampden.. I can include a Modded XDP for those who have a advanced ETO 1.40 set up.. Trying to make this as "Stock" to what a Hampden would carry, inline with our ETO 1.40 expansion. With a Honest Airfile also inline with what a Hampden would fly like in our beloved CFS3 set ups..

In the Mission builder. When you chose your aircraft, you can also chose the load out.. Bombs, Rockets or whatever you need. Also in the mission builder you can chose the type of mission Strike, Intercept, or whatever you need. Open with note pad/or word. The information for the mission parameters look like this: <Params Version="3.0" Directive="search_destroy" Country="Britain" Aircraft="eto_pby_cat_1" This is a search _destroy mission

I know from experience how valuable feedback can be. One can get around the slower 13 knot speed on carrier take off if you adjust the start point on the carrier flight deck. For those who don't know how, open the carrier's main folder and open the ship.cfg file using notepad. I used the HMS Furious42 in this case as an example. The looks like: width=28.4091888 length=180.1648416 takeoff_start=0,18.667476,-88.4084952 takeoff_stop=0,18.0968904,-19.3352928 landing_start=0,500,-3000 landing_touch_down=0,18.0968904,-71.4084952 landing_stop=0,18.0968904,-19.3352928

Mission 15: all went well. The only thing was a spelling error in the departing text: "...the other ships than you for..." - instead of "thank" Mission 16: the mission starts and text pops up almost immediately, as I am trying to take off, to inform me I have failed the mission. A few seconds later, the mission ends. Then the end of mission brief tells me the mission was a success at 50%. See the attached screenshots: Haven't flown it yet, but the title of mission 17 is: "Ensuing a safe passage." Is that "ensuing" or should it be "ensuring"?
