I'm gonna have to agree with Cirrus. I'm running an old OC'd 775 QX9650 with a GTX 285 and 4GB of Viper ram. I replaced Windows 7 (apprehensively in light of what I have seen). I did erase my old Windows 7 files after extracting what I wanted and it runs my apps and games without a flaw in full Windows mode. It is fast and I just love to be able to talk to my PC without a special program being loaded. LOL! I'm not too nutty over EDGE yet. I felt so good about it that I checked whether WIN 10 would handle my tablet and it gave me the green light then proceeded to download Win 10 on my Windows 8.1 tablet and all hell broke loose! Working on it... Ted

What Joseph said...is the way to go. Then you can still fly your tubes! You may have to make some trade-offs Ted

How fascinating, and how dense can the journos get (answer: very). I've just installed the thing on a separate HD and options to turn off all these "spy" features are presented at installation. Why would I want to leave them on??

I am still using an older OCZ Vertex 4 256GB that was bought in 2012 and still makes FSX with Orbx sceneray run like new. The toolkit says that it is still at 100%. On this old LGA 775 QX9650 crate it makes the 4.2 Ghz speed of the CPU act like 4.2GHz machine! Reliability/Protection Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF): 2 million hours Data Path Protection: ECC corrects up to 128 random bits/1KB Data Encryption: 256-bit AES-compliant, ATA Security Mode Features Product Health Monitoring: Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology (SMART) Support Compatibility

Yesterday spoke to a friend that installed win10 and installed cfs3 the way you install it in win7. Game wouldnt run properly. He ran cfs3config which got stuck, but after the game did run. Game is up and running now (multiplayer and all). Maybe it seems like the config doesnt entirely work but apperently it worked enough to recognise everything and reconfig. Dunno if this info helps you guys. I'm staying with 7 for the time being untill you whizzkids..... (well eh... kids........okay whizzadults) have figured it out. BTW, he told me that after installing win10, his nvidia driver and card didnt work properly because win10 had made its own graph driver and win10 preferrred that driver over the original nvidia. His cfs3 ran at about 9 frames per sec. Somewhere in the Windows settings...

Amusing reading the replies from those who have been exploring the bleeding edge: some happily, others battered and bloodstained. So do I make the jump, or not? Decisions, decisions. :mixed-smiley-027: Certainly there's no rush...

Some users report success after installing the DirectX 9.0c runtime (June 2010), from Microsoft. I had to do the same with Win7 years ago.

So far we don't know. Greycap reported CFS3 running okay with a pre-release version of W10, people are reporting upgrades from W7 and W8 going okay with their flight sims still running while others have had bother. So far nobody's been daft enough to try it on an XP rig! Whether the upgrade will mess with CFS3 is an unknown: Russian roulette, anyone? As Johan says, you'll need the June 2010 directX 9.0c runtime if you do.
