With a suggestion from someone on the AFX Forums, I downloaded a PDF file that explains what the author refers to as the "Drive Through" technique for ensuring aircraft do what I'm attempting. Taking a line from the original movie JAWS. . . ."We're gonna need a bigger boat", lol. Basically what it requires is to set up an arrival network and a departure network, allowing the aircraft to arrive and taxi to it's required spot on one set of taxi links and then depart forward and out to the runways on another set eliminating the "push back effect". Yep. . . .this should be fun, lol.

Thanks Dave, was hoping I was going to find the cure, but unfortunately his remedy is what I have already done. As the AFCAD image shows, the aircraft enter the shelters and park nose in towards the center of the ramp. When they launch, they taxi fwd to the center line, down the middle towards the hangar then turn to exit towards the respective runways. His method of inhibiting the pushback is to place the exit link in the direction of travel and I've done that.:isadizzy:

Good info....I now have a very different problem (I seem to weed out one and get it corrected only to have a new one pop up, lol). In watching the F-16 ramp, when a four-ship departs, those four aircraft back up from the spots, turn and then begin the taxi to the runway rather than pulling forward to the center line and taxiing out as they should. I've looked at the one for Nellis and the one for Cannon and while their jets don't park the same way Carswell does, they are still taxiing into a spot and then taxiing forward for the taxi to the runway. I don't yet see anything in my setup that differs from what they have, yet there is obviously something there I don't see.

Well Ian, mine turned out to be relatively simple and something I rarely consider. . .the "Traffic Density" slider was set too low. Normally I would have it turned off completely as I'm not much on AI traffic, but FS9 has become my "Military Flight" Sim and I failed to check the slider in all this. It was set at 40% which I would think should be fine, but it took moving it to 80% to get the results you see in the images. I still have the two C-40's that insist on parking where they don't belong despite the code being for F-16's and I have to download the C-130 package I need to get the 181st Airlift going, but the ramp is ready and waiting.

No, I'm not one and that's what I'm looking for, lol. I'm trying to figure out why, out of about 26 F-16's attached to the 301st/457th, only 7 or 8 show up. Here's what I did: Installed the MAIW package (AFCAD and AI) that included NAS Ft Worth. This included F-16's, F-18's, C-130's, and C-40's. When I looked at the results, I saw that their AFCAD (I'm speaking now of the physical layout) runway, taxiways, parking ramps, even location of the tower were off by quite a bit. I scrapped the lot of it, but not before saving the parking properties for each of the aircraft so that I could go back and insert them exactly as they were. Currently the runway is connected to the taxiways and the ramp and parking spaces are connected to the taxiways. I have F-18's parking where they should although half of them show up despite the abundance of spots allocated to them. I have C-40's that park where they should except for the one that seems to want to park down with the big boys on the F-16 ramp and I have one row of F-16's, even though there are 26 AI including the two "D" models we have. I don't understand why the F-16's refuse to show on the other spots and why that one C-40 insists on parking with them even though the parking code is for the F-16's. Can anyone suggest anything that might give me something else to look at that might lead me in the right direction here? Thanks!

I got there the following year Tom and yes, General Dynamics (now Lockheed Martin) shares the runway with the base. I liked working days because during the week, the test pilots would take a 16 up to run it through the acceptance and it was quite a show and it was right over the rwy so I always had a great view.

They had no idea what they were even saying, which is pretty funny. Rgr Bussard Ramjet collectors. Now those would work. But you have to be going pretty darned fast, as you know...

My prayers to the folks in Oklahoma. We got slammed here on the north side of town with one in '06 that killed several people. I keep a national weather radar site bookmarked to keep an eye on storms that might be heading my way ever since that last one. What rolls through NE Texas and Oklahoma usually ends up here within about 36 hours. Think I'll go check flashlights and stuff..... Anyone else who is east of that storm front best be prepared to hunker down.

Taking shape, but it's slow going right now. The AFCAD is a bear because it's so intricate as you can see from these shots. Lots of left over areas from the SAC days that are utilized by the Marine and Navy folks. Right now the 301st area on the North end is where I've spent the most time (naturally, lol), the Navy area is just taking shape as is the Tower and Fire Dept. A lot more to do just in those two areas, then there's the C-130 area to the west of the F-16's, the Bomb Dump farther to the west and then Lockheed Martin across the rwy. It'll be quite awhile before it's ready and with my luck, about the time I finish, someone will announce that they've done Carswell with all custom 3D buildings, individual jets with the correct tail numbers and animated figures that launch and recover the 16's, lol. This is being done using the object libraries for the MAIW packages, so whenever it is done, those that download it will have to have those libraries to see anything.

I will not be "around" as much as I thought when I originally made the entries and I'm not comfortable having folks wait for me to finish, so ... As of this post I need to withdraw my entry for the MSFS Mooney Bravo in FS9 ... MSFS (Jeppesen) weather ... Low Course .... Silver Class. Apologies to the staff for any inconvenience this causes ... and in advance of a possible second withdrawal of the remaining entry.

That would never work, Kevin. The impulse engine field modulators would interfere with the anti-gravity compensators if the atmospheric density is greater than 0.357 (Earth normalized), so the acceleration vector de-couplers wouldn't work, and anyone knows what would happen then! Hey, I heard Khan was involved in this movie. Is that true? That would be cool.

I can understand the frustration, considering that I use ATC quite a bit (why, I have no idea. . .it's not very good) and wonder why the controller doesn't recognize my airplane. In my case. . .it's ignorance, pure and simple. I just never took the time to understand the config file and how to make it correctly interact with ATC. In the case of developers, both freeware and payware...I have often heard them say that they rarely get to fly for fun anymore because they're always working on the next model and when they are flying it's only to check out the progress of their latest updates and corrections. . .they really aren't concerned with ATC. Looking at folks who do repaints, like SteveB says. . .most are done for free for others to enjoy and making sure that each skin has the proper config information so it shows in the sim is the primary concern. There are more than a few simmers who find the basic ATC in both FS9 and FSX pretty poor really and so they either try to find other ATC addon programs or just put up with what the default ATC gives them. The frustration level is pretty high anyway and so the fact that the controller doesn't say my "type" becomes almost secondary to why the controller insists on getting me to "please expedite your decent to 5000", when I was 20,000 30 seconds ago and I'm in a C-5 Galaxy.

Some kodaks of the flight down to Jackson Hole. There were considerable mountainous terrain issues to deal with on this leg. I had to make a detour early on to avoid some particularly scary looking hills, then we almost had a CFIT whilst motoring along in the clouds, then, upon breaking out onto the high plains north of Jackson Hole, I could see the mighty Tetons ahead. I zigged to the east to pass over the lake, which set me up for a nice approach into 19. Got in some ILS practice during the landing.

From my visit to the office. Ms. Murphy smiled with distracted amusement: "Tell the young man that there is not problem. He wants to post the authentication of his flight from O24 into O22. He may then take off from O22 to complete a short hop to O68. And to San Francisco thereafter. O22 will serve as an unplanned intermediate stop." "And one more thing. Let the fellow know that once he gets over water, Honolulu is not much farther..."

Thanks Rob! This 310 (Milviz) is really nice. Down safe at Jackson Hole. The duenna track shows a maximum altitude of 9978 feet. That's where I was sure I busted the 10K "soft ceiling" clause. I was flying through this cloud and suddenly saw pine trees. In the clouds, yes, inside the clouds, if you can believe it. I said, "hey, what are those pine trees doing way up here in the clouds?" My passenger was not nearly as impressed as I was by the strange phenomenon. Long story short, and a couple of Gs later, I cleared the ridge. Hehe. Good question Terry, let's investigate... Quite simple, you would start up the impulse engines at .75 power and using both the shields and tractor beam, create a low pressure damping field around the lower hull. This would in effect, neutralize the Earth's gravity and allow the ship to gain altitude. Once sufficient height had been attained, the ship could have escaped the atmosphere under normal impulse power.

Willy, I've been thinking of re-installing FS9 with all the Cal Classic AI traffic and scenery.I remember some time ago Tom Gibson telling me that golden wings wouldn't work very well with the Cal Classic scenery and that I'd be better off using the Silver Wings pack for the textures, etc. I do like some of the Golden Wings AI stuff.
Anyway, if one uses the Cal Classic scenery, does the old FS Genesis mesh work with it or do ya have to stick with default mesh in the areas that the Cal Classic scenery is in?
I'm curious AS to what your setup is like.

In other news,We're doin' ok....up here in the mountains with our bibles and guns, lol. My grandkids are now living with us and that, my friend, is a real treat. We enrolled them in school up here and altho the schools follow the California State curriculum, the teachers are far more conservative then they were where the kids were living in the SF bay area altho it did conceern me that yesterday, Dec 7, my oldest granson, William , said trhat not one teacher mentioned Pearl Harbor......That strikes me as wrong and I guess I'm gonna hafta start making appearences at school board meetings and the like. I do the best I can to teach them about freedom, the constitution, etc but I sure would like the schools to teach it more.
I hope all is going well with you and yours and just so ya know I did not succumb to the demon rum during this last few weeks or so. I went to a memorial for my folks...I got a band together and we played at it...at one point I was listening to some guy spouting all this crap about how wonderful my Mom and Dad were and how generous and all this other stuff and I was in the kitchen of this hall with one of the guys in the band and told him "These folks don't know how lucky they are that I no longer drink". It cracked the guy up....I seem to have a very low tolerance for bull**** but at least through being sober, most of the time I can keep a neutral outward appearence, lol.
Anyway, have a great day, my friend...mid
