Use the Me262 as a starting point since it's another German twin jet. Contact points are really easy to do, once the model is repositioned - model zero point should be on centreline and 25% of wing chord back from the leading edge. Send it my way once repositioned and I'll set the contact points if you like. Flight model is another story, but perhaps someone has some practise with this?

Yes. For Rising Sun: At www.aussiex.org, you need to register and log in. At home page, click Menu at upper left-hand corner, and select Downloads from the list. Look at right side of Downloads page, and click on 3rd Party Downloads.

Lets hope you get a favourable reply Borek, it would be a relatively straightforward job as you say. :-)

Dagnabbit! These high-poly tyre treads aren't even mapped to the advantage of the details! :biggrin-new:

Hmm! Quite high poly for a CFS3 basic model without LODs, but a fair bit of simplifying can be done without mangling the model - for example the recess under the fuselage is a thousand polys straight off and it simply doesn't need to be and the wheels have the tread modelled directly instead of textured. There is also scope for adding more detail to the cockpit itself! If you've looked at the model and compare the 'pit with this pic from the sole surviving Blitz you'll see what I mean: (larger, much larger version available on request!)

I think CFS3 modelling has moved some way on from such simplicity. See examples by Luca, Steve and Ted or Borek's lovely little Komet. (The FP Ar234 is really old now, although it was one of the best models in the Firepower add-on...)

Animating gauge needles is a trivial task next to modelling and mapping a VC.

I moved this thread from the design forum, hopefully the regulars will have an answer to this problem.

It's an AvH aircraft so yes, you'll need the AvH weapons and effects. You'll find them in the Warbirds Library.

Only the .3ds format models can be set up for CFS3 with Gmax (a lot of work). The .max format models need 3ds Max which is expensiveware.

I see load times here which make my old rig seem lickety split! Has anyone with glacial performance tried running Scandisk on their HD? I had various issues a while back including apalling response times for IE's Favorites bar and after running Scandisk the machine was back to its speedy self. Too many packages installed, removed and bodged again for its own good, I think. Scandisk is a command-line tool shipped with Windows 7, Vista and XP if you haven't used it before. Windows 10 & 8 have chkdsk which is used from a command line. Or you can use the Tools in your HD Properties from an Explorer window.

It was one of the best sim websites until political infighting wrecked it. The site owner died tragically a few years ago and any hope of its rebirth with him, but we older hands remember it fondly.

Windows 10 is blamed by W8 users, W7 users decry W8 as wonky gadgetware, XP users insist W7 is the spawn of the devil and Windows 2000 users shake heads in despair as the world goes to hell in a handcart. Somewhere out there are the last adherents to Muppet Edition and 98 steadfastly serving their masters and FS 98. 'Twas ever thus and ever shall be. FSX was rushed to market and the two service packs never really fixed everything as we now know all too well. At least they're still the same bugs we encounter as ever more ambitious add-ons drain the 32-bit memory model to the dregs. Now, about those artefacts I get on final to JFK in an evening thunderstorm...
