I am in relatively good physical shape for my age... but was diagnosed with essential hypertension at age 65 (well controlled with medication) and diabetes Type II, as well as got cataract surgery back in Germany in 2009... but with my "bionic " lenses I can see 20-20 and only need reading glasses... All in all, I say not bad for my age. Live in a retirement community and you should see our population.... all living wrinkles with myriad medical problems... Every time the red firefighter trucks come in... it is the paramedics... folks die right and left every week here (it is a very big Dell Webb development) I suspected way back in Med school that it is not so much how you live but what you get in genes... I lucked out in my Spanish Basque, Italian, French and

Don't I wish... I retired from the Army in 85! No regrets though... I hope I make it to 114 - provided health holds...

After I retired in 85, I still worked for the Army as a contractor in Italy... and in sometime in 89 or 90 I went to organize and teach an EMT course in Stuttgart along with another Hispanic doctor and a senior nurse. And they had just started construction on a new American High School... well, guess what... they were closing down Stuttgart and taking most dependents out... BUT THE HIGH SCHOOL STILL HAD TO BE FINISHED!!! by contract with a German engineering company!!!! Anyway... fortunately, I think Stuttgart came back to life with the Gulf War 2, etc. and they put it to use eventually... haven't been back that way (was over in Landstuhl until 2009 when we finally came back home to sunny California) Now we are going back for a year to Schweinfurt... my wife decided to take a contract for a year to medically process out the folks from Iraq and Afghanistan [she was in Kabul for 18 months) and retired from a Navy job here in San Diego... We have lived in Germany on and off for many years... still have a house in Vicenza, Italy which I hope to sell this time... getting too old to go there, especially in the winter.

:wiggle: Whatever happened to the neat little menu that used to come up when you upload images? The one showing what one has on file at SOH... so you can upload them to a message without going back to your computer archives... Also, how can one upload a larger image beyond the resizing to 1024 by 768 (or whatever) allowable by the upload program... I've seen very large images on the forum... but never learned how to do it... Anybody else's help welcome...

Very fine modeling!!! :applause::applause::applause: One little thing... if possible, make the textures large enough to give room for detailing and repainting... very simple renditions can be turned into excellent more or less realistic replicas depending on the talents of the repainters :wiggle::icon_lol: The actual profile size is in PSP 800 dpi 3000 x 2000 - as you can see there still some detail even in this very small jpg

The term "font" comes from the printer's lexicon going back decades if not centuries... Before Windows hardly anyone outside the business used it... Now, if you are trying to reproduce it for a repaint... to my knowledge... the US Navy of the reference picture I don't think you will find it in any list of fonts... for the original lettering on Navy aircraft and ships was simply called "block lettering" with mitered corners inside and outside which was used semi-standardized until the early sixties... (not all assets were the same because they were hand or spray painted by different people in different units, and some were made into giant size decalcomanias (decals for short) fairly standardized). In the late sixties this type of lettering was replaced (for quite a while) by a similar type with inside corners not mitered. .

Started a remake of an MC 202 whose textures are amenable to render a really nice, quality product... The textures, like the panel, fit very well and the model flies and looks pretty well even as is... The panel is a bit primitive, but it can be made to look pretty nice...

While ago I redid the textures of a very rare naval fighter of the early 50s very nicely developed by the master Kazunori Ito... so I decided to spruce up the panel - which as we all know is not quite masterfully done by Ito (I don't think painting is amongst Ito's plethora of talents... or does he cares...) The textures came out quite nice I think... and if you have the model and want to improve it...just send me a PM and you can have them by return email...

I would begin by cleaning the edges of the primate (white ) on the color borderline with the black background... After all, a real life paint would have smooth edges... this looks obviously like a cut and paste job... Now you see... that is what your comments on Allen paint job of the Baltimore sounds like... Not very nice to say things like that, is it? Let's be sensitive to peoples efforts however meager they might seem... it is their best shot... I think the cartoon is cute... and your effort not bad... of course, I am a consummate graphic artist and could go on like the beginning of my post... In other words, keep trying you are doing fine... One thing I learned in my 75 years is that folks who live in glass houses should be careful when they throw stones....

Back when I was a young pup (and used to belong to IPMS) I was equally pedantic about RLM color chips, etc. Then in 1969, I spent a nice one year vacation on the then Republic of Viet Nam courtesy and commission appointment of President LBJ... There I saw more aircraft than you can count with the fingers and toes... of a battalion... NOT TWO OF THEM... had the same color shades... and I mean... the camouflage patterns and all... were dissimilar... I discovered (how naïve can one be) that UV radiation, heat, rain, condensation, etc. and myriad other phenomena can change factory finish colors... Even natural metal changes... I got a ride to visit my parents in Uruguay from Gen. Maxwell, then commander of Howard AFB in Panama just before I went to war... and you should have seen his personal C-118... gleaming like the chrome on a 1957 Buick! While waiting for my ride, his crew chief showed me around the aircraft... I was astounded by the gleaming finish... and he confided in this super-green Captain that he had orders to cannibalize any C-118 passing through Howard for any parts that where newer or shinier than the Old Man's mount... Similar aircraft in Viet Nam, Germany, etc. later seen in my military career were more often than not very oxidized and dull... uneven shine panels, etc. So you see... rivet counters out there... dwelling on the precise color saturation or shade is purely a pedantic and... in my modest opinion... futile endeavor...

As you can see by the number of hits... a lot of folks seem to follow this thread... so changing the name - in my modest opinion - would only confuse people... I think the name of the thread is not really that important... Here's my last addition... a nice revisit of an old 2d panel by some Japanese designer whose name escapes me at the moment... again... the basic panel was worth the little time spent improving it...

I found it by using only Martin etc. instead of the long name mentioned in the post... Instead of the "virtavia_martin_mars_paa_v1.0.zip" just use "martin_mars_paa_v1.0" (no .zip either)

It cleans up fairly nice... Before I proceed further with it.. a question if anyone knows about it... is the paint scheme correct for mid to late forties Aussie markings to display the wing roundels only on the undersurfaces?

Working on de-mirroring an enhancing textures.... Got it to show a little better the fabric covering and ribs effect (still need to work on its relative saturation and transparency) I think the serial number display is right on... (working now on sorting the de-mirroring) and still have to see about introducing transparencies and bracing for the enlarged sides and back window that distinguish the Grasshopper from a regular Cub.. as well as getting that darn pilot in the front seat!!!
