Hi Brad, Research is time-consuming but can be fun if there is ample technical, performance, and operational data available. Fortunately, there are many here with troves of data they are willing to share. Modeling is what I enjoy most. It's both creative and artistic, and a technical challenge as well. Good quality 3-views with cross sections are essential. I do not get off on fancy gmax tools but focus more on the process of construction and results. I try to maintain a balance of detail for modeling and rely on textures to pick up the slack. Using good texture mapping processes are essential at the end of this process to ease the burden for the texture artists. I do not do the artistry (textures); I leave that to the really talented folks to bring the model to life. :-) ...

SH, the original was designed to show how the wind was hitting the sails (that was important to me as I was learning the mechanics of how all this should work). But, I can see where a head indicator might be less confusing too. Will take under consideration. Thanks

Thanks Nathan. It really is just due diligence getting through it all. Just have to keep plugging away at it until everything is fleshed out. I just completed the texture mapping for 680 parts ... that is quite the grind. :-) Fortunately, most of that the painters will not have to deal with. I have the VCockpit left to map and that should wrap up the mapping. Then on to panel and gauge creation.

That looks great SH; it'll make a nice popup panel. :-) Are they typically on a standalone mount, on the seat, or floorboards?

Somewhere around here I have a Buttkicker Gamer stored away in a box. I used to use it all the time when I was flying combat sims many years ago and it certainly makes a difference when you can feel hits from an enemy on your six! I stopped using it when I switched to civilian flight sims (FS2004/FSX) as I only really felt anything when raising/lowering the gear and on touchdown.

Update on interior parts texture mapping: good progress on the major parts; now to wrap up the smaller items like life raft, machine gun setups, munitions, and door operating mechanisms. The VCockpit will be mapped/textured with the "G" model.

Hey Gordon I used to surf the California coast on my Bob Ford surfboard. I went to college in Southern California and then worked out of San Ramon, CA for 17 years with ADP. I miss those beautiful waves! Moved back to Texas. The biggest I saw in South Padre were about 3 feet high! LOL Ted

Where abouts are you locating to? There are a few of us in Southern California that try to meet at air shows around here. Would be great to meet you.

LOL Chris. I just wish we had nice big storm seas to make it as challenging although 43 days at sea on a starvation diet was challenge enough. If you have not read "Men Against the Sea" available at the link above, you really should.

Chris, the Launch is in the paint shop as we speak. Nigel is out of touch except on the weekends so we should likely hear a status Saturday. Once we have textures, I will release her in beta test. The paint kit should be ready shortly after release.

Surely possible and will do. The Bounty has a binnacle, just no compass in it. Not sure why I did not do that other than it is so hard to see clearly.

Thanks for your comments Gentlemen. Working on the time-consuming mapping of the interior parts and surfaces now. Will take a few days to wrap this up before more serious cockpit work will be done.

I've had similar problems over the years with that auto-complete issue. I narrowed it down to having multiple programs open at the same time and one of the background programs caused the selection tool to auto-complete whenever it did a refresh or some other function. I suspect it was my modelling program(s) but I was never able to get a definitive answer. I try to only have PS open on it's own now which seems to cut down the issue but then again I bet it's almost a year since I last had PS open! :pop4::dizzy:

I may have answered the question of the Dornier 335. I assumed that the version you listed (FS9 Freeware) was a full version, especially when I saw the size. Since it didn't have anything but textures after all that time downloading. . .I'm now downloading the SimTech version. . .this is probably the base model which the textures were an addition to. This has to be the largest freeware download I've ever done, lol. . .reaching almost 250 meg. lol
