Seems very strange that would be the only one with a tail hook. We had fifty or so in NAATC Jacksonville, all equipped with a hook. It could be that when they were "civilianized" they removed the hooks.

Rami, KH gave me a wonderful tour of La Spezia last year on my visit with him and Xavier. By the way, while I haven't see Xavier here lately, he's a NATO historian at La Spezia and could probably also help. Sadly I lost his and all my other E-mail addresses just before Christmas so I can't help you in getting in touch with him. Here is a photo I took of a model of the harbor at the La Spezia Navy Museum. It shows the bomb damage from allied bombing.

I saw a Dornier 328 at the Army airfield at Fort Lewis, Washington yesterday. I'm sure that most of you have seen one, but this was the first time that I have. It's a slick looking aircraft that looks just plain fast for a turboprop medium twin. I was driving, so I didn't have a chance to take any photos.

Hi, I've just come back to FSX (and the Outhouse) after a long break. Have the fsx system up and runing fine in DX10. Problem I have is with the FSX (Dave Carroll's) version of Milton Shupe's lovely D18. In the VC the instruments are visible but seem to have a reflective texture over them that is blue and has the FSX logo on it! All is fine in DX9. I think its the alpha channel on the texture or maybe a missing texture. Any advice would be welcome. Tried to post a picture but the process kills my browser :( Thanks kurt

I think I remember that thread too. It wasn't about adding interior model parts - it was more about getting parts coded to be viewed from the exterior to also be viewed while in VC view. You would essentially have a very low resolution static VC. Unfortunately, I can't find that thread either.

Well, the only thing I can recommend now is to refund you. If you want to hang on a few days, I might have a fix, but for now, the only thing I can do is a refund. Milton is having the same issue. Plane is totally invisible and for no apparent reason. Just to recap; * FSUIPC should be up to date * The installer 'must' be installed directly into the FS folder. IT cannot (cannot) be opened in a subfolder or 'new folder' or other drive. It 'must' be opened into the sim or this will happen.

Hey RedDog, The DLL files need to stay there in the F24 folders. We could not have a uninstaller as it would leave some planes without certain functions as they share components of this plane. How about redownloading the Installer and running it again. Being that its 500+ megs, perhaps it has a birp in it and is corrupt. It does happen. If that doesn't do it, then we may have to do a refund.

Hey RedDog, Question one, no plane: Try rebooting the sim. There are two modules that need to be running for the plane to show up. Let me know if that didn't work. Question two, alias': Yes, files all over tarnation. Question three: Try the reboot before you try the smaller textures route. Lets get your plane visible.

There may not be a way to control that part of the graphics - possibly because of the need for MS to keep the start screen smooth. If that's the case, just hit Alt+Enter to exit full-screen mode, set up your flight, then go back to full-screen after you hit Fly Now.

When FSX came about, the $pan was no longer needed in the model in FS, but needed in the 3D building program. $xxxx (what ever you name it) with the $ on the front tells the sim that this is a 'instrumentation' file and handled as gauges. Then the sim reads the texture as gauges. The $ file is also flipped opposite of normal, so in FS, it will be right side up if the maker of the sim is using the $ file for other things, etc. I still use $pan's. (Pan means panel, but you can name them $vc1, $dangpanelthing, $rightlowerpanel, etc). Bill

The problem is that the installer is online-activated. If the installer cannot get the ok from home base, the package is invisible. What ever computer it runs on, it must have an online activation or it doesn't work.

Once the Borg assimilated one Vorta, that new drone's military intelligence would be spread throughout the collective. At that point, the Borg would know they need to shift their priority to the cloning and Katracel-white facilities. Without their white, the Jem-Hadar will die, and unless the Borg nanites were capable of ridding them of their genetic addiction, they would be useless as drones. I suppose that Borg tech could conceivably be configured to form sub-cutaneous Ketracel-white synthesizers, but I believe that this would be considered too much of an imperfection to the Borg, making them an undesirable assimilation candidate. The next question is what would happen when the Borg finally set foot on the Founders' home planet. Remember, they already have the Vorta's knowledge and technology. There's really nothing they need on the Founders' planet, so I'm guessing they look around and leave.

Hey Heywood, You do not need to buy it twice. If its just for your residence, just request a secondary code for your other computer. You can copy the installer over. Just keep the codes saved with the installer. Bill

The tail wheel suspension is up inside the tail and looks like an Oleo damper and is hinged by a dragging link plate. I didn't actually ever find out if it was a free spinning tailwheel or linked internally to the rudder mechanism, so I cant answer that. My apologies. We treated it like a linked tailwheel. From what I remember, I thought you could kick it out of its lock plate and it would freewheel till it locked back into the plate in the bottom of the spinning vertical shaft. (I was pretty young back then and might be thinking of the Stinson). Yep. They do. Our friends in San Diego that had a Staggerwing, whenI got to fly in it, it too sounded like it was idling, but we were moving out!

Great photos Lawman. Thanks for sharing those. You Dutchmen have had the Militracks and now this airshow all in about a month's time. Looks like the light was difficult for photography, as it often is at airshows. Sometimes I open my aperture up an F stop or two to in order to emphasize the subject and make it stand out from the sky.
