or - How the Mooney Air Force came to be. A little excursion into scenery design brought about by a simple post in a forum. Was on the front page of the frenchvfr.free site and saw a note about a new tool at fsdeveloper to help create hangars in Sketchup. Went through the thread about the One Click Hangar plugin, downloaded, installed and gave it a try. Came up with a set of hangars and section of covered parking, exported then imported to ModelConverterX. Exported a mdl file from ModelConverter then used LibraryCreatorXML to create a bgl file that I could place in my scenery folder. Turned to ADE9x to place my hangar set at a test airport, fired up FSX, and there they were but looking lonely with no planes parked in the area. Went back to ADE and linked it to FSX so I could add parking in the hangars and under the covered parking area. Needed some AI for my new parking so opened up AI Flight Planner and generated some local flights using Tim Conrad's M18 in military style paints.

As soon as I saw you were including a radial model this package became a must buy for me, but this really pushed it over the top: . What an awesome paint, I wonder what the interior looks like? The military paints are looking pretty sweet also.

So what to do after the event is over and the bar tabs are getting ever higher? Fly again but in another class, a possibility for sure. Maybe fly the course in reverse, now that sounds interesting. Lets get a bigger plane, just to up the challenge some. Have all of our ill gotten Vegas winnings, should be some classic yet sensible. I know, buy a cargo plane to carry stuff from place to place, make more money. Grabs vintage bottle of Reposado tequila and heads to elevator. Now which floor was Ms. Monroe's room on? Two days later - Contracts coming in fast and furious, grab half repainted plane ( bought from airline that didn't seem to be using it much ), and head back to Mariposa with 7000 lbs cargo for CDF.

Thank you everyone, fun set of flight with some hair raising moments. I'm still following the misadventures of those that are still out there, almost as much fun as flying the event over again but without the stress. I cleaned my screenshot folder right before my first flight so it only had event shots, just checked and I took 432 screenies :icon_eek:. Bound to be some that are post worthy and I'll get some up as I sort through them. Surprised my V key hasn't fallen off yet, didn't think I took half that many! Thanks again to the Spring Event team and speedy flights to all those still on the way in. Al

Success! We have arrived at San Carlos (KSQL), and as one final hurrah had another stiff crosswind for our landing. Always nice to go down the runway on 2 wheels, then 3, then back to 2. Landing my virtual DC-3 seems much easier, maybe it's the 500+ hours I've flown it. Time to see if those who've already arrived have left any adult beverages for the rest of us. And a big thank you to the team for another great event, this one seemed perfect in leg length and flight time. Flight time: 00:40:46

What a bone head move that was! Flew the whole flight, landed at San Carlos, kept waiting for the Duenna window to come up. Finally checked after a minute or so, forgot to reset after the previous flight. Will try again later today, must be past my bedtime.

Arrived at Mono Lake (O24). Interesting flight winding through different mountain ranges. Cut it a little close in a couple spots but planned path got me through without having to get close to the soft ceiling. Banker man alot more relaxed since our Vegas excursion. Nasty haze layer at Lee Vining, must be from the fires. Flight time: 00:54:19 Fuel used: 81 lbs

Time to leave Las Vegas. Might be awhile before I return as banker man, a numbers genius, explained the true odds on the dice tables to me and we proceeded to make a 6 figure run at the -censored- casino. After much grief they finally gave us our checks and invited us never to return. Departing for L06, Furnace Creek.

Arrived in Las Vegas (KLAS). Very hazy this flight, in fact Vegas kind of snuck up on me and suddenly there were suburbs below me and I was still at 8000 ft. Nice guys in the tower let me get away with an "expedited" descent and slotted me right into a straight in approach. Got some more squeals of delight from banker man with that little maneuver, he seems to be quite excitable at times. Flight time: 00:53:53 Fuel used: 69 lbs

Arrived at the Grand Canyon (KGCN) and leaving after a quick fuel up. Black SUV came screaming up next to us as we were taxing in, guy hanging out the window yelling to hurry on to Vegas. Seems our contact got bored of the great outdoors and had the itch for some gambling. Flight time: 00:28:25 Fuel used: 38 lbs Grabbing some snacks and drinks and onward we go to Las Vegas (KLAS).
