I worked at Rockwell International - North American Aircraft Operations in El Segundo back in those days. My job led to a lot of interaction with folks at Space Division in Downey (both cities were in LA area). I remember it well because it was the day before my 28th birthday. We were in a Tempest room (very deep security) working on a proposal for the Air Force. So we had Air Force types working with us. The guy I dealt with daily was a former F-4 pilot at Edwards. His back seat guy was Ellison Onizuka who was on the Challenger mission. It was he who got the call and told the dozen or so of us in the room. That was probably the darkest day I can remember at Rockwell.

Thanks for the info Rob, and everyone else. I understand your point of view, Rob. I'd better make sure I have downloaded what I'm missing before they are no longer compatible with "boxed" fsx. Great to see what this thread turned in to. Loving all the pics.

Before we start passing around any more complete versions of the release please let's get Phil to verify that it is the same as what has been uploaded to the venders. If not then he can get them to update it on their servers. Then anyone with the problem can download it again from wherever they originally purchased it. :ernaehrung004:

Yes it is by far! Zara had been my startup base for many years and I've tried them all (listed on my website) and the version by SkyDesigners is the most accurate and realistic while still being easy on the frame rate. :ernaehrung004:

Yep, a B-52 flying level is nose down. It looks weird but that's how the wing sits on the fuselage. Sounds like you need to stay on the trim. Number pad 1 and 7 for up and down. It's an older plane so maybe someone made some adjustments to the FDE to counter the effect. I haven't flown it in a long time but have been meaning to reinstall it. :ernaehrung004:

Would that include not having to see the threads from developers (the ones started by developers or their "staff") that go on and on using this place to advertise long before the product is released? Obviously I'm kidding but it would be interesting if anyone benefitting from the exposure here was required to pay for that exposure based on number of views and/or posts to the thread. What I would really like to be able to turn off are not ads but the "Server is busy. Please come back later" messages. If the server can only handle so many registered users and guests at a time and gets near that limit then it should see who I am, know that I am a donor, and drop someone who isn't. I know that sounds selfish but I'm sure I'm not the only one who has experienced this. And it always...

Tom, if your joystick has a twist axis, make sure it is not assigned to anything, as you are using the rudder pedals. With the B25J on the runway, make sure to dial the knobs at the bottom of the Sperry to zero, as mentioned above and that the Sperry is "un-caged". Then just follow the instructions above. It will take some practice, but once you get the hang of it, it actually works great. I used the Sperry in the Douglas DC-2 "Uiver: during last years London to Melbourne Race. And it's working great. Roy Chaffin's B25J is really easy to fly with and without the Sperry, I just use the Sperry for the longer legs, or when in multiplayer to give other warbirds the chance for some formation flying. Let us know how you get along.

Expat, Glad to see you got the issue sorted out. I love flying this bird. After trimming ti for level flight I activate the Sperry and the adjustments in the sperry make for smooth turns. Tom, Don't loose your patience with this bird. It is certainly worth the effort. Can you provide some additional information, like: What Operating System are you running, What controls do you use Are you running FSX or FS9

It sounds like the referral to the FSX Steam edition, and the improvements Dovetail has implemented.

Let us know if that solved the problem. The manual will not load in Windows 7, because that OS is missing the "Windows Help Program". I downloaded that from the Microsoft website, and now the manual will open. This is what the manual states: Servo Speed Regulators Usage: Before using the autopilot make sure that "auto coordination" in FS is switched off. It is also important to achieve a good trim especially with MS Flight Simulator default aircraft. The SPERRY-PILOT MARK III was made to hold heading and attitude, it was not built to turn automatically to the desired heading. - Turn upper rudder knob ("RUD") on directional gyro unit, and align upper card with lower card. - Turn aileron knob ("AIL") until its follow-up index matches the zero point on the banking scale at the top...

A few years ago (2010), Area 51 "updated" the U-2S, ER-2 flight model, and in so doing, made it pretty much impossible to get to 80,000 feet. Wilycyote4 apparently merged the two FDEs to get whatever benefit the "update" gave us, as well as restoring the ability to get back up to 80K feet-- but it looks like he hasn't been on the forum since late 2012. Does anyone else have that modified flight model they would be willing to send me? Thanks, Kent

Very nice work. Good delta landing technique. :encouragement: Too bad we don't have a newer F1 to fill the gap between the III/5 and 2000. :ernaehrung004:

Never had any problems with it. It is one of my favourite bombers in fsx. Even done some Multiplayer sessions with it. Such a great feeling to see several of these birds take off. I will have to open the manual when I get home from work tonight. I asume the Sperry works the same on FS9 and FSX. Will let you know, unless someone beats me to it ;) Update: Gonna be running late at work. Will have to wait till the morning, but.... I found this fix on Roy Chaffins' website: Sperry Autopilot acts strangely

I live 20 minutes from that restaurant. The KC-97 looks a lot better than the food tastes. But it surely is a nice experience, walking in to the monster.

I totally agree! I also like the idea of tagging posts. I don't like opening a post, and then coming to the conclusion that it is related to a sim that I do not use. So I would love to see tags, like "FSX-O", "FSX-SE", "P3D" and "CFS"
