fsafranek replied to a thread FSX Steam in FSX General Discussion
On my new (a year old now) system I have the boxed version of FSX installed in a C:\FSX folder right off the root instead of under \Program Files (x86). This was an attempt to defeat a security measure that was making a couple of aircraft unusable in Win8. Didn't work but I still have my RTM copy on the older WIN XP system I can fly them on. For the Steam version, it was automatically installed where all Steam programs reside, under C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\FSX. The two co-exist on my system with no overlap and no conflicts. The Steam version is much more stable than the boxed version and Dovetail Games has already made a couple of update releases of improvements -- something that is never going to happen to the boxed version. :ernaehrung004:

Wow. Of ALL of the FS9 airplanes I would like to see seamlessly ported into FSX, the Cloud9 F-104 is one of them. A close second is their Aermacchi MB-339CD series. Gorgeous airplanes. Kent

If you buy them one at a time (which makes absolute sence when the budget only reaches so far) I suggest the following order: FTX Global -> Vector -> Open LC.

Probably too late by now but is the Aeroplane Heaven Grumman F3F-2 on sale anywhere? Funds are tight this month but with the holiday sales thought I'd ask. :ernaehrung004:

This old post is bringing back memories. I have the PF100/50 and Dreamwings F50 for FS9. Now that I am enjoying JustFlight's Fokker F27, I would love to do a multiplayer flight with all fokker aircraft, lol.

I can only say that FTXGlobal transformed my flight simulator to a new level, and on top of that it gave me a FPS increase, which is always welcome. Oh, and even for non frequent VFR flyers, it is always nice seeing great areal scenery when departing or arriving at an airport, or even when climbing or descending though the clouds.

I have been using REX Essentials w/OD for quite some time, but was never really satisfied with REX's weather engine. So, a few weeks ago I decided to buy ASN when it was on sale. The combination of REX textures and ASN weather engine has proven to be a perfect marriage for me. I have not made any flight without ASN ever since. I am running it on a networked computer, that also runs other flightsimultor related programs, and I do not see any FPS hit difference. Oh, and YES, ASN does implement weather/changes very fast. And I love how easy it is to look for locations with specific weather, or to find out weather conditions at any airport. Thar was just my two cents :biggrin-new:

Chief, Just a thought/suggestion. We had the IDENTICAL situation with our cat Mugsy a few years ago. He was having NONE of the hydration with a needle. In desperation, we bought a ceramic water fountain made for cats...he began to drink water like a maniac. If Twist has the slightest interest in running water, it might help augment the hydration you're doing. It kept Mugsy going two years more... Kent

Sean, Please take a deep breath as your response is, I assume not intentionally, coming across as offensive. As John is stating he was unable to find the manual, and the "DEMO" message at the top could be, as you stated, due to activation issues. Just pointing out where you found the manuals, and guiding someone to the activation instructions would have been much more "community" friendly. John, As you understand I do not have any SimSkunkWoks products, so I can not provide any specific guidance,

Sorry, I didn't see your message before posting my previous post. I am not seeing a FSX or P3D icon on the site, and I loaded it in Chrome. Clicking on the words FSX or P3D at the top of the page just reloads the home page for me.

Hmm, so you have to register an account in order to be able to see their products??? That sounds so backwards to me. I don't sign up somewhere if I can not see what I am signing up for. As they say: you don't miss what you don't know. Well, I'll just stay with websites that actually show me their products, so I can decide if it is worth registering. No hard feelings, just my personal opinion.

Pluto, The simskunkworks website is only showing a home page without a link to it's products. Guess they are not interested in selling their products.

I thought I could keep my self distracted from this airplane, but with all these marvelous paint jobs it is almost impossible. I will have to extend my birthday in to the coming weekend, so that I have an excuse to buy myself another gift, lol.

Hi Kent, Didn't you have a MCAS El Toro in the works back in Nov 2008? Any status? Regards, Bill
