Hey Christoph - the Lufthansa looks lovely. Have a big soft spot for the classic European schemes, and with most of my non-military simming taking place in early 60s Calclassic airports, that scheme is perfect. I can't remember where I read you were thinking of a Swiss DC-3 - I can't find it now. Is HB-IRN one you're open to? It sure is lovely ... Would certainly get used on the Zurich - Geneva milk runs ... :wavey:

Have not been doing any simming for a few months, so this is a nice surprise. Thanks so much Joe for this scheme. I love anything of the old 50s and 60s NAC/S/A period out of Edwards/Dryden, so this is enormously appreciated. Ditto with your 088 USN model too. Ranger - thanks for the CF version - that's one close to my heart for obvious reasons. Many thanks for all these lovely schemes - and to Manfred et al for a great project. dl

Gimp lied! This is 50794 and Flag is correct. Also a model of 792 showing different angles, notice the flag on the wing. More pics on the bottom of the main picture.

Ryan, i ment that you don't see the mess as shown in the FSX screenies above when you switch the cockpit light on in P3Dv2. You can read the gauges more or less but that's about it. Proper VC lighting in all versions needs work, quite a lot of work if we want the same lighting options as in the real thing. Here's a first trial of UV light that comes from 2 tubes on each side of the cockpit walls and radioluminescent painted gauge dials. Another UV light will sit on top of the quadrant and possibly two that light up the OH. In any case, Visair Industrial Light & Magic has kicked off.

Thanks for the memories, Andreas. :encouragement: Do you happen to know Lasse Hero and Miikka Hult by any chance ?.... 15 years ago i was looking for photos of bare-metal DC-3's that i could use to create photoreal textures for my first DC-3 model ( FS2K, no fancy reflective-, specular- and bumpmapping yet... ). At about the same time i was asked by Miika Hult if i could do a Finnish Airlines livery for my DC-3 model. I thought he was godsent because OH-LCH is one of the most beautiful examples of a still flying bare-metal DC-3. Made a deal with him, i'd do a digital replica of OH-LCH if he would send me photos... Took 3 photoshoot sessions because of the hangar and the weather ( can't be in the hangar nore have direct sunlight on bare-metal if used for a texture.. Overcast is...

No, it doesn't. It's a heavy frame and even heavier with all the stuff mounted. Also: you feet are on the pedals. Cees

Funny you ask specifically for P3D... As opposed to FSX 'basic' VC lighting in P3D does already work..? (atleast in P3Dv2, i don't know about v3 yet..) I am working on 'full' VC lighting for FSX right now. Various kinds of ambient light, fluorescent panel light, individual spotlights (atleast that's on my work order.. ;-) cheers, jan

The instability is the worst factor. I get 30 frames with 'heavy' planes and demanding scenery. And then, after10 minutes of flying, the sim crashes, freezes. Not always, but too often to be ignored. Cees

...of all the crashes, low framerates and hughe loading times I'm about to give up on this sim. :banghead: Cees

Cees Donker started a thread The verdict..... in X-Plane
This is a great sim which has many advantages over FSX or FSX-SE. The interface is great, framerates are great, the Garmins are great as are the autopilots. Gonna have a lot of flying to do! Goodbye for now FSX! :jump: Cees

    Hey Jan,

You guys have been quiet as of late; still waiting on the updated flight dynamics from Rob Young before releasing the updated 2004 sabre?

I hope all of your work with MAAMsim is going well, and that you are having fun with your new gaming machine.

We continue to enjoy the F-86 in FSX very much; we never get tired of it. We look forward to the day that you run the model through the FSX SDK to compile a native FSX model.

    Wishing you the very best,

    Chris Eells
  2. JO Jan :-)

Don't you just love ole Snave? LOL He is already on very thin ice ... must be Brit humour. LOL

Hey Jan, what ever happened to the N3-N? I have been patiently waiting for it. It was good rugged ship, better than the Stearman.
