Did you say yoot? What's a yoot? :icon_lol: :icon_lol: I read someplace that the "technical talk" on Star Trek was a result of the director instructing the actors to just "say stuff that sounds technical". They had no idea what they were even saying, which is pretty funny. Rgr Bussard Ramjet collectors. Now those would work. But you have to be going pretty darned fast, as you know...

We will be airborne, heading to the IOM again. I'm collecting a KTM 990 to ride around the IOM (not racing!!) and for a couple of weeks tour of Ireland. And it's not an extravagance, the bike is in sort supply and a good financial investment for resale when we return to Oz. We are staying at the 'Waterfront Apartments' in Douglas, not far from the circuit. I'll try to check in from time to time but after the TT our plans are very fluid, one day at a time. :jump::jump:

whilst true in some case, i suggest in this case you pick up a history book .. on the night of the 14th/15th June 1919, Captain John Alcock and Lieutenant Arthur Whitten Brown flew across the atlantic in a Vickers Vimy and claimed the Daily Mails £10,000 prize, both men were knighted as well. Also due credit must go to the US crews who flew the 3 NC seaplanes across the atlantic in stages via the azores (also in 1919).. and a load of US navy boats lined up in positions along the way so the flying boats could keep track of where they were (roughly) As i said, he was the first to do it solo, not the first to do it :)

the fact the atlantic had been flown several times before Lindbergh is of little consequence then? (for the record, Lindbergh was the first to fly across the atlantic solo, not first to fly the atlantic :engel016:)

Taking shape, but it's slow going right now. The AFCAD is a bear because it's so intricate as you can see from these shots. Lots of left over areas from the SAC days that are utilized by the Marine and Navy folks. Right now the 301st area on the North end is where I've spent the most time (naturally, lol), the Navy area is just taking shape as is the Tower and Fire Dept. A lot more to do just in those two areas, then there's the C-130 area to the west of the F-16's, the Bomb Dump farther to the west and then Lockheed Martin across the rwy. It'll be quite awhile before it's ready and with my luck, about the time I finish, someone will announce that they've done Carswell with all custom 3D buildings, individual jets with the correct tail numbers and animated figures that launch and recover the 16's, lol. This is being done using the object libraries for the MAIW packages, so whenever it is done, those that download it will have to have those libraries to see anything.

That would never work, Kevin. The impulse engine field modulators would interfere with the anti-gravity compensators if the atmospheric density is greater than 0.357 (Earth normalized), so the acceleration vector de-couplers wouldn't work, and anyone knows what would happen then! Hey, I heard Khan was involved in this movie. Is that true? That would be cool.

I can understand the frustration, considering that I use ATC quite a bit (why, I have no idea. . .it's not very good) and wonder why the controller doesn't recognize my airplane. In my case. . .it's ignorance, pure and simple. I just never took the time to understand the config file and how to make it correctly interact with ATC. In the case of developers, both freeware and payware...I have often heard them say that they rarely get to fly for fun anymore because they're always working on the next model and when they are flying it's only to check out the progress of their latest updates and corrections. . .they really aren't concerned with ATC. Looking at folks who do repaints, like SteveB says. . .most are done for free for others to enjoy and making sure that each skin has the proper config information so it shows in the sim is the primary concern. There are more than a few simmers who find the basic ATC in both FS9 and FSX pretty poor really and so they either try to find other ATC addon programs or just put up with what the default ATC gives them. The frustration level is pretty high anyway and so the fact that the controller doesn't say my "type" becomes almost secondary to why the controller insists on getting me to "please expedite your decent to 5000", when I was 20,000 30 seconds ago and I'm in a C-5 Galaxy.

Some kodaks of the flight down to Jackson Hole. There were considerable mountainous terrain issues to deal with on this leg. I had to make a detour early on to avoid some particularly scary looking hills, then we almost had a CFIT whilst motoring along in the clouds, then, upon breaking out onto the high plains north of Jackson Hole, I could see the mighty Tetons ahead. I zigged to the east to pass over the lake, which set me up for a nice approach into 19. Got in some ILS practice during the landing.

Thanks Rob! This 310 (Milviz) is really nice. Down safe at Jackson Hole. The duenna track shows a maximum altitude of 9978 feet. That's where I was sure I busted the 10K "soft ceiling" clause. I was flying through this cloud and suddenly saw pine trees. In the clouds, yes, inside the clouds, if you can believe it. I said, "hey, what are those pine trees doing way up here in the clouds?" My passenger was not nearly as impressed as I was by the strange phenomenon. Long story short, and a couple of Gs later, I cleared the ridge. Hehe. Good question Terry, let's investigate... Quite simple, you would start up the impulse engines at .75 power and using both the shields and tractor beam, create a low pressure damping field around the lower hull. This would in effect, neutralize the Earth's gravity and allow the ship to gain altitude. Once sufficient height had been attained, the ship could have escaped the atmosphere under normal impulse power.

If you have to manually set the flaps, then yes, it's the improved version, lol. The original release had two things going for it that I don't think anyone else, at the time, had produced: flaps that operated automatically based on airspeed and angle of attack and a startup that followed the Dash-1. After the update, both of those went away and Lago said they could nothing to correct it. As far as the tail goes, I don't have that skin, but if you have DXTbmp, you can load that texture and make sure it's converted to DXT3. That would be my guess as to why it's just solid black.:salute:

Just as an aside....I remember waiting with much anticipation for Lago to release the "Falcon". It was to be the best rendition yet and the screenshots looked amazing with all the hi-res panel pop-ups they had. It was by far the best version out there, especially before they messed it up with an update that screwed some things up and never got fixed. Today, I look at it in it's present form and it's amazing how rough the aircraft actually is. It would probably be considered an "OK" job for freeware, lol. One of our members was able to set me up with the download and so with my original info I was able to get it installed. My first impression 9 or so years later. . . .what were we all excited about, lol. Amazing how far we've come.

you really do get what you pay, anything under £100 will get you cheap crap really, fine for a couple hours a day, but rudy useless for long periods. You can get a pretty good ones in the £150 -£200 though if you shop about, i've currently got a ergo-tek one (http://www.officefurnitureonline.co.uk/shop/ergo-tek-mesh-manager-chair.html) which after a year or so is still standing up really well to near-constant use. Only issues i've had are i had to take the arm rests off for it to fit under me desk nicely (but then i've got a pretty strange desk) and the bottom of the base is pretty darn sharp, it'll easy scrape half your ankle off if you move forward and have your foot in the wrong place! :blind: O and the back bit can get really dusty if you dont wipe it down every now and again. Other than that though its been great.

    Hi Bill.

I'm starting to detail the interior of my Firefly now. All these switches and dials I know I'm going to lose out on some of the detail because of the weld limitation. I'm considering learning your new method of High Def FS9. I was wondering if I can Hi Def the interior only? So when I create components of the cockpit in Gmax, can I detail them, and size them as much and as small as I want?

Uncle Bill. My Mom and I are not going to Phoenix this June. Chloe cannot come and no one will take care of her. She gets grumpy when she sees a stranger in the house. We will go visit you on your birthday. I will be a surprise. Mom has a special project she wants to finish. I want to see Uncle Robert and he said we will play bowling not on iPhone. I do not play bowling, but I like to go roller skating or ice skating. I have roller blades. It runs faster. or we can go swimming. Or we can go to Flagstaff and play with snow. I have not seen real snow yet. Oh I have but I haven't played with it for a long time. Meet us at the airport. I will call you when we are going to land. I will ask the pilot to land very smoothly. My Mom cannot land very smoothly. But she can drive real good. We will go to Panama. Today is Mom's day off. We might go swimming later or go to Disney tomorrow. Then she works Monday to Thursday again. Ok Bye. Mom is calling me. From Hannah.
  10. Hey Bob,

They are cool. I love mine. Just remember, its not line a WIndows device, this is basic Apple and only Apps work on it, no big programs. I use mine for web, gaming, Apps that are tools for my biz, and it makes a great stereo system. I link it to my computer Bose sound system and it has a cool music interface, like a stand alone stereo system from star trek.

Dont get the flimzy cover case, the folder thing. It is grim. Ask to see it if you really want one. After you fit it in the sleeve, you'll see what I mean. There are supposedly some new stands coming out that are bending little clip things that you can sit it in on desks..

You might wish to get the 64Gig. You can fill these up fast with movies and music. My music alone was 9 Gigs.
