Nice pics but that last ones not cfs3 is it? Looks more like IL2, what's the facility underneath you?

Hi David, Thanks but it's not that, this is something to do with either W10 or the portable version of Excell that I'm using. It's as if you can see the changes but they're not 'really there'. I'll dig out the XP machine and use that, far less headaches! Cheers, Clive

Has anyone had problems creating a new GSL.lib file from the global_layer.csv in windows 10? I've been trying alter the altitude of a facilty in the global layer, the .csv file shows the change and the gsl tool appears to be working ok but there's no difference in cfs3. I may have to resurrect my old XP pc.

Nice work Joost, that looks very useful! There's a couple in there that warrant further investigation. Yes I think that cfs3 is more akin to fs9 and fsx than cfs2, why-o-why M$ didn't just make an improved cfs2 is beyond me. All it needed was better scenery and gunner positions! Maybe it was a marketing thing, the fs and cfs series would have been to much alike.

Been a while since I did any work on it! Holidays, RL and a lack of enthusiasm have held things up. I can only say sometime this year, hopefully. :0)

550am Another day in the house of pain, there is a pattern if I can get a pain med at around midnight this means I can rest for about 5 hours before the pain awakens me and I must begin the quest for for the hard to find pain meds.. then another hour of intense pain before they start to have any effect, The pain meds usually cut the pain in about half..So since I have been here I have never been completely pain free,, I was pain free while in the hospital, but seems it was decided to half the amount of pain meds when I got here,, It is wearing me down I admit this, been depressed at times, I battle this, not giving in and I remain prayerful that our Lord in His loving kindness may yet heal the spinal injury in time if I am worthy of this Blessing from Him..If not, I will a...

Yep, nice one, they work! I also tried the cowl flaps, there's references to multiple engines which would be good, alas that one doesn't seem to work, but I'll try again with it. Also noticed a line in there 'carrier_based', intriguing but it may be more standard FS stuff.

"Hacking" is an emotive word, freeing features that may probably have been implemented from day one and prolonging the life of with all of our mods .... well perhaps we should be charging Microsoft?? ;0)

Yes, well distributing any modified files will be the tricky part, or else an instruction pack on how to enable any new features should be ok? Chris that sounds very interesting!

The short answer is yes! There are 3 files involved, the cutscenes .xml defines which animation is used then there's the animation files themselves (not moddable) and another (can't remember the name) which can be altered but is in the same folder. It's been done before and I used to have some modded files. Also the airplane position on the airfield can be changed in the facility file, look for the path entries at the bottom of the file, there will be 3 with co-ords that are close together. The co-ords are the position in meters from the centre of the facility x and y. Don't get too close too buildings or vehicles though or the aircraft will explode!

Fascinating stuff! What hex editor are you using Daniel? I could try and see if we can get any extra animations.

Wow Daniel, that sounds very interesting, well done on finding that! Of the ones you made work, how did you achieve it? Cfs3 is lacking in the engine management department!

I am willing to help as i can once I recover and return home to my Hobbit Hole, in a month I should be Home and then back to my Mission work for all. The TOW night war expansion being worked on by several will cover a part of the night war, and I eagerly await the P-61 for this also..:applause: Thanks Ted, and to All or Masters for their efforts in our beloved CFS3 sims..
