Hey guys, Although you'll have to bundle up to head up to these latitudes...I am in the process of building a series of historically accurate (at least for the British side) missions involving Operations Tungsten, Mascot, and Goodwood, as well as Paravane and Catechism. Aircraft used will be Avengers, Fireflies, Corsairs, Hellcats, Barracudas, Lancasters, and Seafires, as well as Heinkels, Ju-88s, and both Fw-190s and Bf-109s. Although the GSL scenery for Tromso won't translate into CFS3, I can pass along the mission descriptions and ship names to anyone who is interested.

Archive1, Ah...but you see, kemosahbee, many years ago, it was I who was asking the questions. (Ask bearcat241 or Talon, they'll tell you) In addition, I am a teacher, and it has become engrained for me to want to help others along, provided they're willing to try on their own, which you so clearly are. Back to business... I noticed two major issues here. The attached "scenery.cfg" file corrects the errors and puts the layers in the correct, sequential order. Because you had a gap between and , that meant that any scenery below (with higher numbers) than was not being recognized by CFS2. The other major issue, (also corrected) is that the "area" and "layer" numbers, with the exception of areas 1 and 2, should always be the same. (E.g. Area 3, Layer 3, etc.)

Very interesting and worthwhile projects, Mick. Love the idea of '60s FS Jet Age too - would that be mainly military?

They are in the SOH library. Do a search under the FSX skins for "Flight Replicas" or those by Hanimichal and you'll find them. Jankees usually posts his repaints over at aussiex.org.

Dewoitine, Since this was an honest mistake, please just write a quick text file and attach it to the "Battle of France" thread declaring that some of the missions are the property of Led Zeppelin, and I will include it in the campaign package as a readme. No harm, no foul.

Stuart, Thanks. Those are actually the unfinished pics. It extends from Greenock down to Port Glasgow, but is spread out so that frame rates are acceptable. I just finished Tromso, in Northern Norway, because I am essentially revamping the "Tirpitz" pack in its entirety. I'm making sure that the attacks took place in their proper location, and am also ensuring that there are representations of "Tungsten," "Mascot," "Goodwood," and "Catechism." "Paravane" will be covered by DamBusters, and because the weather conditions cannot be reproduced in CFS2, I will have to skip over "Obliviate."

Good evening, I just wanted to pass along some interesting quirkiness regarding CFS2. Above the Arctic Circle, you can get some very weird issues with the water and object placement. I noticed it with creating some scenery at Tromso, where the Tirpitz was anchored late in 1944 after the ship was damaged in another fjord further north-northeast. When you get close to the water with objects placed on land in confined areas, even static objects have a tendency to "slide" as you approach and pass them. Even stationary ships have this effect. I first noticed this on the Heinkels mission that takes you to Spitsbergen. Has anyone else come across this?

Capital work, Skipper! :applause: Up for a gulp of fresh air here - with a cool breeze a blowin', rivits and panels now flowing amidships m'hearties. Visuals up here shortly. Lots of work, but as Milton says; plenty of fun getting there! Greetings to all! Nigel :wavey:

Archive1, As far as my understanding of CFS2 goes, the "modules" folder holds the key. I'm wondering if perhaps it boils down to the cfsmap.dll and mplanner.dll files. Mine are 428kb and 488kb, respectively. Perhaps this doesn't check out the same on your end?

Archive1, Just so you can see I'm not blowing smoke, here is a screenshot of my flying a mission off Crete with the Advanced Info screen working on my desktop.

I don't think so. At least I haven't found a way. I know the pilot can be hidden and chocks displayed on the A2A Spitfire.

Archive1, I'm not sure about why you might be having issues with the Advanced Info screen. I discussed this at length with Greg, (Shadow Wolf 07) because we are both running Windows 7. The only thing I can think of is that achim27619 told me once that for the airbase.dat file to work properly, there needs to be a little symbol below the last airbase.dat entry that looks like a square or an arrow. If that isn't in your file, that could cause some issues. I am going to go through and just dust off the Med after I get done with Europe, so give me a week or two on Quarta Sponda.
