Worthless, (Smacking head) I forgot to mention that! I always do in a campaign package, but I forgot in this one. Because in certain cases (Brest, Bordeaux, Reykjavik, Bodoe, etc.) the GSL scenery is close to Achim's bases, I include the airfield layout as part of the .gob work. I will have to specify that. You should always install Achim's bases first, then the GSL ports, which will add the second layer.

I missed the part about deleting the dp pilot figure so I went back and opened the dp file for the P-39 ,took out the // marks in front of drop tank and deleted all the lines that said RAF pilot figure then saved it. That fixed all the P-39 problems ,took the pilot figure from the cowling in the loadout screen ,fixed the droptank, and the shackles are where they belong.I saved a copy of the new dp file in a safe place since when I tried deleting it I didn't have any drop tank or external ordnance and no exhaust effect ,when I put the dp file back that I had changed everything was back to normal. Thankyou so much for the help ,I now have a perfect P-39 that can carry a droptank and bombs with out the pilot figure on the cowling in the loadout screen,a pilot in the cockpit and shackles on the belly instead of a foot below the plane:salute:. Your the best, happy Memorial Day

The figure of the pilot on the cowl still shows in the loadout screen but there is now one in the cockpit. When you go to fly there is just the pilot in the cockpit nobody sitting in front of the wind screen. Of course the bomb shackles are still flying formation with the plane when I carry the bomb ,but no biggy there ,I have several P 39's and can carry a bomb on them. Thankyou so much for your help.

I installed the remake of the stock P-39D ,oridginaly by B-24 guy and updated by OBIO. When the plane first shows in the loading screen the pilot(I have the Allied and Japanese pilot sets)is out front on the cowling ,just ahead of the windscreen, when you go to fly the plane ,there is no pilot at all, which is better than him setting on the cowling. Also I have noticed when you fly the bomb racks are about a foot below the bomb, the drop tank doesn't show at all but when I get to my backup disk that has the P-39 weapons pak it might remedy that.(I'am rebuilding the sim after a crash) Is there a way to get the pilot at least to show when you fly the plane? Thanks

Good morning, And here is Bordeaux. There are two main concentrations of GSL scenery...just north of the city, where I chose to locate the U-boat pens, and just south of the heart of the city, where I chose to locate the commercial port. Also included are two road bridges over the river and a rail bridge.

I also included the harbor at Reykjavik in the Kondors! package, but am holding off on updating my Europe GSL ports package because I want to include Lorient and Bordeaux as well. (St. Nazaire will be a separate project with scenery assistance from tobob)

I did every thing suggested...finally resorted to uninstalling which was a major deal and now I can't re-install...I'm about ready to toss this software in the trash. I have Win8...what a pain for reinstalling. I have deleted every little bit form the registry as suggested in the guide I found here...and still I keep getting this error 1628 cuz the damn thing will not reinstall...I set up anther user account..it still won't re-install. I have to say, FS9 and XP was a great setup...this computer runs FSX great...I don't know what happened but I guess I'm learning things about it I di not know till now. I've been at this all day with 0 results... I understand about saving the default flight...but I can't get the engines running. Anyway, I have un-installed FSX for the moment. Now if I can figure out how to re-install it, I'll be amazed. I don't know why the guys at MS had to make the newer machine be so damn complex to do a simple task. I bought the sim and the computer and should be able to do what I want with both without having to go thru all the aggravation.

Hey guys, Achim has updated his Norwegian airfields, and many of them now blend in very well with the surrounding scenery. The airfields at Vaernes and Fornebu now have expanded runways, allowing for easier takeoffs with Heinkels, Dreifingers, and Kondors. Also included are revised airfields in Iceland, at Keflavik and a brand-new base at Reykjavik! Thank you to Achim for these, and I moved them to the top of the pile for you!

Hey guys, I'm having an unusual problem, and need some help. In Tobob's LaRochelle scenery, there is a scenery object called "tb_warf." When I'm using this object at Bordeaux, because space is tight, it is not generating a .cdp file when I try to fly a mission to check its placement. Because no .cdp file is generated, the mission will not load. If I remove that piece, the scenery loads fine. This is the scenery package: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=45&id=4071 Does anyone know what the problem is, and/or how to fix it? :isadizzy:

Discus, We have a winner! :salute: I actually had to place the U-boat pen just across the harbor from its actual location...because the amount of land available was not enough to place the U-boat pen correctly. I also used the other space to built a pretty large port...on the scale of Southampton. Luckily, almost the entire area was flat, so it made building relatively easy. Also on the slate are Bordeaux, and St. Nazaire.

Hi all...all of a sudden none of the prop driven planes in my FSX will run, which is to say the motors will not fire. The copters are fine and the jets are fine. I'm pretty sure I haven't changed anything crucial. Anyone else ever have this problem? its a new install and I guess I can re-install if I have to. I'm liking FSX overall, although it took me a few years to get a computer that would run it well. I didn't do any simming at all for the past year and finally have the need to fly around the living room again for my own peace of mind.

A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category CFS 2 Aircraft - British Description: Update of Bismarck13's Bristol Bombay I took Bismarck13's (William Dickens) Bombay and simply did some refining to it. I created new skins with panel lines..basic servicable panel lines, nothing super sharp or detailed...just enough to give the plane some character. I revamped the DP file, using the Ground Crew British Weapons pack. There are 4 skins in this pack. The first is just a revamp of the original desert scheme that came with the plane. The second is a desert scheme Air Ambulance. Third is a Cargo variant in overall RAF Dark Green. Lastly is a Dark Green and Medium Sea Gray camo scheme...not accurate but looks nice. The Air Ambulance Skin: I attempted to recreate the Bombay in the markings of No1 Air Ambulance Unit, RAAF, based on an image sent to me by Hewman. Unfortunately, I was not able to do so in a manner that satisfied me. The Red Cross insignia on the sides of the fuselage should have No 1 Air Ambulance Unit RAAF in a semi-circle on the top half of the insignia...I was not able to produce that lettering in a curve with any of the software I have...or at least not with results that were good enough to use..they tended to be blurry and uneven. Secondly, the real RAAF Air Ambulance had the Red Cross insignia wrapped across the bottom of the fuselage..again, the results from many attempts to achieve this were less than stellar..very blurred, very streaky. So, I opted to include my first rendition of an Air Ambulance....it may not be totally accurate, but it looks good. And I think most simmers would rather have a good looking plane that is not quite on par with history than to have a historical skin that looks like crap. ________________________ A great big thank you to Bismarck for creating this fine aircraft. While it is not a super significant aircraft in terms of usage during WW2, it is a nice addition to the CFS2 line up of avaiable aircraft. Bismarck has produced many many aircraft that fit in this mold...planes that history and most model makers have over looked. Thanks also to Peperez and Hewman for supplying info on the colors and markings used on the Bombay. Thanks to the folks at Ground Crew for making and sharing their incredible British weapons pack. Very nicely modeled bombs in that pack. ________________________ Please refer to the original read me file by Bismarck13 (William Dickens). This is his work, and his rules aplly above all others. For my part...these skins are free ware. Feel free to tweak them to your own liking. Heck, if you want I will be glad to share my paint template if you want to repaint the plane in a way of your choosing...just shoot me a PM with your e-mail address and I will send you the Photoshop 5.0 files (can be used in Paintshop Pro as well). _________________________ Use these files at your own risk. Any loss or damage that may arise from the use of these files is...

Guess I shouldn't worry so much... FS9 is at 21.1 Gb FSX is at 65.4 Gb I try to control sizes by moving aircraft (and some scenery) folders to an external HD if and when I feel I don't fly them, thereby leaving the favorite aircraft in the sim. So there is an additional 150.0 Gb for FS9 and 8.6 Gb for FSX of inactive aircraft, manuals, paint kits, etc. on an external drive. This does not include the full copies of each sim on other portable drives used as backups in case of a reinstall, etc.

Strangely enough the Corsair is one plane that takes off a carrier without much trouble,so does the Wildcat but the Hellcat gives me fit's. Speaking of fits I had a total crash of CFS2 last night and had to uninstall it and reinstall,so now I'am rebuilding the whole sim.

Whilst I am in the midst of working on a few projects, my scattershot mind is starting another one, and I'm struggling to find good sources. I am looking for information on the 20th Fighter Group...the primary operators of the Lockheed P-38 Lightning in the ETO until July of 1944, when they switched to the P-51. 1) They were based at RAF Kings Cliffe. 2) They flew a long-range escort mission to Bordeaux, France at the end of 1943.

Lately I've been practising carrier takeoffs and boy is that frustrating.I put in the "take off from fantail" patch but it doesn't seem to do much good. Some planes will take off just fine ,other like jets and heavely loaded planes stall as soon as you lift off. I have increased the power scalar and that seems to work on some planes ,like the Banshee but others like a loaded down Hellcat just stalls every time. I've gotton to the point where I lift off without any ordance ,then add the ordence after I'am airborn, or I even use slew to get the plane in the air,but that's somewhat of a pain .First you start the engines and hold with brakes(I have CH rudder pedals) then lower flaps then go to settings and disable joystick ,because if you don't and hit Y for slew, the planes goes nuts. Then I hit Y for slew and use the keys for forword then gain height ,then hit come out of slew, hit settings ,enable joystick ,raise the gear, milk up the flaps and your on your way. Not very immersive. Some planes don't even have power scalar in their config file. These are ones I have to use the takeoff without ordance or slew them into the air.Any other suggestions would be welcome.

Hey, If you're referring to sc7500, I keep in contact with him on a regular basis. Without going into extreme detail, Bruce (sc7500) has some major health issues, and goes through what I can only describe as sheer hell to try and maintain a modicum of normalcy, despite his health issues. The treatments he is forced to endure have pretty substantial side effects, including partial blindness, fuzzy vision, and other issues. Until they get things right again, he's taking a break from CFS2 because he can't focus his eyes enough to do any .dp work. I lift him up in prayer frequently, believe me.
