I've been doing a lot of repainting lately. Popping in and out of the simulator, going around aircraft to look at them for anomalies. Here's the scenario. Prepar3D 2.4 loads and the plane is in front of me. It's a sunny day with scattered clouds in the sky. No clouds on the plane I'm viewing. As I go round the plane in a 360 degree circle (while looking at the aircraft) the light goes from bright to dim. Like on a dimmer switch connected to a light in your house. Depending on which direction the nose is pointed, the area where the brightness changes, varies. So this is not being caused by by the (alpha/spec) paint scheme or a specific aircraft. I went into the weather settings and changed it to clear skies as a test. When the sim reloaded I did the same 360 walk around it. The...

A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category FSX Panels Description: This is a correction to replace the previous "TWO" uploads. For the Alabeo Staggerwing. This file updates the panel to remove the shadow and discoloring. Rami, my apology for uploading so many file in a short time. 11-26-2014 12:26pm PST

I can appreciate your wanting to pick at it so it is perfect, although, the whole panel amongst other bits on the file looks mottled and blemished. I meant to keep it that way instead of a one tone application. Which can quickly lead to doing everything close to the panel. My not having the model, yet, limits me from going any further with it. For now, enjoy. Maybe this model will hit the sale rack. I might pick it up. In the meantime, can I fly yours? :mixed-smiley-010: Nice "DELETE" feature that resides in the SOH archives. I took care of the bad files, Rami :)

Pictures tell me whole bunches considering I don't have the model. No rivet picking. Remember "I" don't have the model to DO a better job.:a1310: It's good you posted that image so I can physically see what's going on. Your image also lets me save, and bring it in Photoshop to use as reference. Otherwise it's a guessing game aside from common sense and hunting for panel photos elsewhere to go from. I had a gut feeling I was opening a can of worms editing as I did. :dizzy: You are, and will be my eyes! You are fortunate today is the start of the holiday! Round three!! http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=117&id=19181 Rami will likely skin me for causing him so much grief by uploading so many, so soon. LOL! GULP

Ahh crap. Not only is it upside down, but the wrong file type. This is a perfect example that having the model to test things is the best approach. This should fix that. http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=117&id=19180

Hmmm... Got a file name or link for the FSX compatible sky textures?? I downloaded HDEv2 the other day and was just examining the zip file contents and noticed the sky textures. Before I start playing around, its best I have all the information. I thought I would start by changing the various cloud and sky textures first, before moving on to a weather engine. Orbx provided some nice weather themes which I occasionally use and would be a good test bed to see if there are any performance hits, etc. Thanks. :very_drunk:

Edit: Daube got in before I was finished typing. :dizzy: I'm up for some real weather myself. Something that connects to a weather station possibly and stay updated in real time. I don't want anything bloated with a lot of features. A simple Click and GO. HD not a necessity. What say the hive? Suggestions?

LV-RHX is almost finished. A few minor things to take care of and I'll send it off to Rami to place it in the SOH library. :wavey:

I don't currently have the Alabeo Staggerwing, although I played with the file Ron has a bit. I'll upload sometime soon. Pay no attention to the backwards lettering as it does not affect the file I created. :a1310:

For the last few weeks I've been reading different packages (and individual opinions) on getting real world weather in FSX. Up to now I typically fly with the stock Fair Weather theme, but its becoming real boring. The majority of my flights are local, Washington State with ORBX PNW scenery so whatever I choose has to be compatible. Also, I don't want something that is memory intensive (like during a thunderstorm) that would generate an OOM. I've been looking at FSXWX (freeware) as well as the various top payware packages such as Opus, Active Sky Next and FS Global. Lots of nice YouTube videos. Still, each of these recommends replacing cloud textures. So I guess I also need to look at Rex 4. My impression is that the payware approach can get costly, especially if things don't...

Stefano, Thank you! I have seen this, and I am aware of it. But it still amazes me that their tenacity in fighting and willingness to fly anything with wings yielded such results. This is indeed sad news to hear. I'd wondered where PutPut had been. He and I spoke several times via PM about modeling and repainting. He was very active in the hobby and had a passion to "create", learn, and share with anyone it seemed to me. An inspiring type he was. To the family, Paul will be missed in our virtual world, as yours. My thoughts are with you. May you rest in peace, Paul. Fly the friendly skies.

Nice work, Rami! Before too long CFS2 is going to look better on the ground than FS2004 or FSX with all the great work you scenery guys are doing!

I may have read some of the threads over at Avsim. Other places also. Most times when I search for info, if things get long toothed and off topic, I'll generally seek other venues for the answer. I've never been one to like threads of that type. FSdeveloper is generally where I go for in-depth digging. :encouragement: I'll check the links you provided for a bit of reading and keep experimenting. And download your repaints for a snoop, Lane. :untroubled: Thanks for the pointers and directives.
