Thanks, Bill. Good stuff. The challenges (and learning curve) are coming from adding textures and porting over some aircraft from FS9. I'm learning that when textures are added to FSX aircraft, not all the readme.txt entries are consistent which in turn caused the issue I first posted. Same goes for some port-over aircraft from FS9 as the FS9 aircraft.cfg goes by different rules.

Tobob, Getting closer...this is with the WC_030_020.bgl and LC_030_020.bgl in the Scenedb\World\Scenery folder. I was also able to fix Dakar's harbor island by moving the watermask file into the Scenedb\World\Scenery folder.

Yes, that's true. My solution to that, because I have all of his scenery packages installed, is to have a common folder called "Tobob land and watermasks" for those files, and then have the "TB_xxxxx" folders separately. Yes, as you correctly fixed. I correctly anticipated, because the layout box is about six miles in rectangle form, that it would be a multi-gob GSL file. Before using GSLedit, I ran it through Gob checker, which split the layout into three parts. I hadn't done that yet with the layout file because I wanted some input and feedback from Kelticheart, and now Jagdflieger, and if possible, Xavierb.

Stefano, I am well, though I had a meeting before the school board recently because some parents didn't like the content I was teaching. (The Banana wars, Sanford Dole and US economic interests Vs Hawaii, US occupation of Haiti, putting the Shah in power, Eisenhower sending the Marines into Lebanon, etc.) Because I was not espousing my own beliefs on the students and was well entrenched in the facts, the school board, the teacher's union, and the school principal backed me 100%. Mom's also been reasonably stable in dialysis, so that's a plus. And, my eldest daughter is going to be five soon! Yikes, huh? I am attaching a beta testing package here for you. I don't think you'll have problems with this, but you need the scenery for the layout to work properly. I included a couple of modified files I use that were given to me by Robert John at my request. Let me know if you can't find anything, or if something looks funny!

I don't know why some Burnage Typhoons will take off ,others won't budge,Guess I'll live without these Tiffys. One other thing ,I tried to install the F6F5C 1% Hellcat but although it showed up in my plane list in the CFS2 root tree it doesn't show in the sim.I noticed it doesn't have a DPC file, could that be the cause?

Well, my head has been warped from the start of the project. So it's OK. LOL! So far I have the door, and the tail surfaces animated. The door speed is fine. The tail surfaces however are too fast. Animation length on them are 0-100. I think that's a little short for duration is why the speed seems too fast. It's been trial and error up to this point on what gets animated up/down or left/right first. Thanks everyone for steering me the right direction.

You ain't gonna believe this.... but I figured it out. You might want to sit down for this one. As I mentioned earlier, I purchased the Flight Leader X from Warbirdsim and added a lot of repaints. Well, what I found out is that the entry for had a different ui_manufacturer= entry. Every one of the entries including the default textures had a ui_manufacturer= North American. The only one that showed up properly had ui_manufacturer= North American Aviation (all without quotes, BTW). As it just so happens my install of the Warbirdsim P-51D also has ui_manufacturer= North American Aviation, so this might have been a factor as well. Anyways, all I had to do was to make every manufacturer entry as 'North American Aviation' and now all the aircraft are listed under Warbirdsim. :isadizzy:

There are 53 entries The changes only affect , meaning it is the only aircraft that appears under a "Single Engine Prop" or "Warbirdsim". The additions I made to each aircraft were copied from another, working aircraft.cfg. The only thing modified was for 'ui_createdby='. I'm still trying to figure out why 1 out of 53 works, but the other 52 do not. If there is a typo, I haven't found it. Sigh.

Stefano, How are you? Finals began for my students today, and I found myself in a classroom while my students were studying with nothing to do. Since I had my laptop with me, I started working on another package Tobob sent me a little while ago to complete; La Spezia, Italy. After about four hours, I felt comfortable enough with it to post some pics, but since this is reasonably close to Fidenza, I'd like your opinion about whether this scenery is on the right track. Thanks in advance,

Over the weekend I decided to get a few P-51 Mustangs over to my FSX install, so I picked up the Warbirdsim Flight Leader X and spent a good part of yesterday adding repaints and flying around. Towards the end of the day I decided to add some missing lines to each entry to associate the planes with Warbirdsim and added the following lines for each entry: ui_typerole="Single Engine Prop" ui_createdby="Warbirdsim" Today I discovered that this works with only one entry, and all the other entries are still listed as 'Unknown' for some unknown reason. Why would it work for one entry and not the others?? :salute: Weird. Just plain weird.

Since I attached this post to my other PBY thread ,I didn't get an answer. I have some planes ,mostly Burnage Typhoons that won't take off from the runway, brakes are off and I have full power but the planes just sit there. I have some of his planes that takeoff just fine but at least two and I think a P-51 that's not his won't take off.I've had a few that go down the runway but never lift off. If any one has any ideas as to fixing this ,I'd be very grateful. thanks

A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category CFS 2 Scenery Add-Ons Description: This is Tobob’s St. Nazaire scenery, with contributions from Rami. This package is for CFS2, & is used in the Battle for Europe campaign. Tobob has graciously donated his coastlines and land class to the project, allowing for me to build GSL scenery for the port & sub pen areas without the interference of detatched coastlines resulting from the interaction between Sander's Europe scenery and Rhumbaflappy's newer world water masks. Tobob deserves much of the credit for this scenery package, he did more than the lion’s share of the effort, in that the land class, coastlines, water masks, and elevation mesh were all created by him. A credit also goes to Talon, who walked me (Rami) through analyzing the .dp file to figure out the naming flaw that was preventing the object from generating a .cdp file. My contribution to this scenery package was the placement of objects from our various designers to create the placements for the dockyards, sub pen, and lighthouses to bring some measure of life to St. Nazaire, and then use those layouts to create the GSL scenery. The additional layout for ship, vehicle, and anti-aircraft gun placement was also created by me.

the Greek Phantoms are regularly found at Andravida AB, Tanagra AB, Larissa AB... occasionally Aktion and sometimes Souda AB, only time you'd likely see them above Rodos is if they're toying with a Turkish F-16 who's sniffing around the border :icon_lol: i don't think it's economics... well partially it is, but along with the A-7's they're Greeces Primary attack aircraft and until next spending review (next year) no replacements can be looked at... but in saying that Greece have looked at Flanker and Typhoon... to replace the Mirage's as i recall, Phantom once again is too loved and keeps escaping the retirement :icon_lol:

sad to hear this i lived under the Approach at Larissa AB in Greece till i was 6 or 7-ish... Phantoms were my daily fix... used to go right over the top of the house, i remember my mum being angry once because she had put an empty glass on the wall just as a Phantom was doing a pass for some event, it hit the burners to climb right over the house and the glass went 'walkies' off the wall... me laughing, my mum shooing me away from the broken glass :icon_lol: good news is Ferry that Greece have no plans to retire theirs any time soon, they're determined to be the last Phantom Operator, so the old 'brick' (there's a saying 'the RF-4E, flying proof that given enough thrust even a brick can fly') will be about for a few years yet...

Do that, Matt - Yeovilton used to be my regular aviation haunt - I love that place. Years ago, your visit was almost certainly rewarded with the Sea Fury, Firefly or Swordfish on a check flight or all three departing for an airshow. The museum was sensational - that's where I fell in love with the big American radial CATS! Big, staunch, beautifully engineered, carrierworthy babies towering over the FA birds. When I was at secondary school in Torquay during the early '70's, we'd get a Camberra flyover every Thursday as regular as clockwork (undersurfaces yellow/black diagonal stripes). A REALLY extra treat would be the appearance of a Sea Vixen - man what a lorry of a crate!

Good evening, I finished the work on Saint Nazaire, and turned it into GSL scenery tonight. It's not quite historically accurate, because I put the sub pen in a different place than it was in reality. In addition, CFS2 lacks dry docks as objects, so I did what I could here. All in all, I'm happy with the results. Also, as a favor to kdriver, I included the oil refinery at Donges, France, which was targeted by Allied bombers in World War II. I should be able to upload the package tomorrow morning.
