Lately I've been practising carrier takeoffs and boy is that frustrating.I put in the "take off from fantail" patch but it doesn't seem to do much good. Some planes will take off just fine ,other like jets and heavely loaded planes stall as soon as you lift off. I have increased the power scalar and that seems to work on some planes ,like the Banshee but others like a loaded down Hellcat just stalls every time. I've gotton to the point where I lift off without any ordance ,then add the ordence after I'am airborn, or I even use slew to get the plane in the air,but that's somewhat of a pain .First you start the engines and hold with brakes(I have CH rudder pedals) then lower flaps then go to settings and disable joystick ,because if you don't and hit Y for slew, the planes goes nuts. Then I hit Y for slew and use the keys for forword then gain height ,then hit come out of slew, hit settings ,enable joystick ,raise the gear, milk up the flaps and your on your way. Not very immersive. Some planes don't even have power scalar in their config file. These are ones I have to use the takeoff without ordance or slew them into the air.Any other suggestions would be welcome.

Hey, If you're referring to sc7500, I keep in contact with him on a regular basis. Without going into extreme detail, Bruce (sc7500) has some major health issues, and goes through what I can only describe as sheer hell to try and maintain a modicum of normalcy, despite his health issues. The treatments he is forced to endure have pretty substantial side effects, including partial blindness, fuzzy vision, and other issues. Until they get things right again, he's taking a break from CFS2 because he can't focus his eyes enough to do any .dp work. I lift him up in prayer frequently, believe me.

Mario, Here is the third mission description...I'm still working on the mission itself. "title_string"=Operation Mezzagosto - A greeting by Der spaten "summary_string"=Achtung, Meine Herren! After gaining intelligence on the fleet's location earlier in the day, we have decided to greet the massive Pedestal convoy with a combined raid of both level & torpedo bombers. Your target is the carrier HMS Indomitable. "objective_string"=Through the early evening of 11 August, 1942, the Pedestal convoy sustained the first significant air attacks of the battle by four successive waves of Axis bombers: thirty Junkers Ju-88s & six He-111 torpedo planes were just one attack. In this raid, no hits were scored on the vessels, and two of the Ju-88s were shot down. "intelligence_string"=The enemy convoy sighted yesterday is now within range of Sardinia. We're prepared to execute the first assault. Take your place in an Heinkel He-111 torpedo bomber and direct your torpedoes toward the enemy carriers. The Ju-88 bombers will attack the remainder of the enemy fleet. Und passen Sie auf sich auf! "player_aircraft_name_string"=Heinkel He-111h-6 "airfield_string"=Sardinia - Elmas

Mario, Here is the scoop for mission two... "title_string"=Operation Mezzagosto - Dreifinger reconnaissance "summary_string"=Kamerad, herhören! After being alerted by French reconnaissance that the enormous Pedestal convoy entered the Mediterranean, we gained intelligence from our own source as to where the Allied convoy should be. Your mission is to find and photograph them. Make sure that you take the pictures and get home without incident! "objective_string"=The Pedestal convoy was identified at about 0830 hours on 11 August, 1942 by a Ju-88 bomber on a reconnaissance mission. Once the Pedestal convoy was spotted, the Axis forces sat & waited for the convoy to get within range of their airbases, then raided it during an evening assault by bomb-laden Ju-88s and torpedo-carrying He-111s. "intelligence_string"=Once airborne, hold a west-southwesterly heading and climb up to a cruising height of 5,500 meters. The estimated convoy position is to the southwest of the Baleric islands. Once over the convoy, hold a steady course and speed as you photograph, but don't stray above 5,700 meters, or the photos will lack detail. Once this is completed, you may return to Sardina. Hals und Beinbruch! "player_aircraft_name_string"=Junkers Ju-88a-11 (Italy, 1941) "airfield_string"=Sardinia - Elmas

Sorry I wasn't more specific in my thoughts. What I meant was that it was as if I was missing a *.dll or other program that the LSO setup needs to function. Basically it's a Window and xml gauge added to the panel.cfg. I can open the window and the LSO is standing there with his arms and paddles outstretched, but there is no animation as expected when I deviate from the landing flight path. I have a support ticket in with Vertical Studios, so we'll get this sorted out in time. I was just wondering if someone else might have the same issue, or if it is just my setup. I should add that this issue isn't detracting from addon. The install is straightforward, the vessel looks fantastic, and I've made about 20 traps and take offs without the LSO.

Jagdflieger, Thanks! Considering the quality of your work over the years, I consider that extremely high praise. :salute: I'm come to really appreciate the things you can do with Xavierb's piers in tight spaces, where elevation away from the coast rises quickly. While wolfi's large piers are great for flat spaces with few curves, they just don't offer the same flexibility. You can also create different pier formations and all other kinds of neat tricks!

Mario, I completed the second mission tonight, but I'm too tired to re-write the mission text. The mission is a second reconnoitre, this time from a German Ju-88 based on Sardinia...higher up at 5,500 meters. After this mission, you will participate in an evening torpedo run onboard a Heinkel He-111.

Jinx, The props will generate two times as much thrust, making for a better climb rate, increased takeoff performance, and a higher top speed. The downside? Your range will be chopped by half.

In English... I just wanted to let you know that I haven't forgotten about doing the Axis side to Pedestal. I can't say I will work on this project at breakneck speed, but Operation Mezzagosto is underway, and I am using the Pedestal missions as a base to "flip" them and turn them into Axis-themed missions. The first is a Vichy French reconnoitre of the convoy just after it enters the Mediterranean...I didn't want to give you something too difficult to start, you know?

Jinx, Sure, but in what context? Are you talking about in Mission Builder, or actual flight characteristics? If it's the latter, the quick and dirty way is to increase the thrust and engine scalars in the .cfg file above 1.0. Otherwise, it can be done by modifying data entries such as empty weight, manifold pressure, horsepower, compression ratio, cylinder displacement, and number of cylinders in the engine.

My apology all. I should have explained. Due to things in my real world, I can not stay focused in my project. So, I put it away. Will it get finished? I honestly can not answer that right now. For the time being, I have put Gmax away. There's just too many frustrations involved in the whole process. Even as far as I've come. At this stage, I may consider giving the source to an individual if there is an honest interest in finishing the project, and releasing with my intended contribution to SOH only, as Donation-Ware to benefit SOH I'll be up front and direct to the subject on the plate. I'm a picky SOB. Ask around. I have a lot of pride in everything I do, regardless. If there is in fact someone who wishes to finish my work based on the above guidelines, inquire within. :wavey:

I am confused about the aircraft limit patch which I have installed. It was said in this forum that although you can fly in freeflight ,if you have the patch you can't fly QC or missions. Although I have AC man. installed I have taken the aircraft out of it that I had in the hangers just to see what would happen.I now have 302 aircraft and ships in CFS2 and can still fly QC and Missions. I don't fly campaigns so I don't know how that will go ,but why can I still fly QC and missions with the aircraft limit patch in? There is one group of P-40,s that although they are in the sim I can't move them from ACman. In other words ,although they show in the hanger they are actually in the sim and are perfectly flyable in the Australian mission they are for,but I can't move them from the hanger. No big deal with that since they are actually in the sim but still show in the hanger. But bottom line is why can I still fly all my missions and QC with 302 aircraft in the sim?

Mark, Here are some pics of the layout for the harbor. It includes a breakwater connecting a barrier island to the mainland, as well as a breakwater to protect the harbor. I also included a forested island with a lighthouse, and piers of varying sizes with warehouses, access ramps, and plenty of space for shipping, even for the biggest vessels. Now I have to do the support facilities, including warehouses and such, but we're getting there. Edit: Safari won't let me attach the pictures, but I'll include them when I return home.

HS, does this affect in any way, the mapping? Where as, if I have things already mapped. Mainly for hind sight is why I ask. Some things were a headache to get "linked" correctly. Once sorted out a sigh of relief. At this stage I'm willing to go with the way I did things and animate. My Gmax "goto" book arrived yesterday. I'm hopeful I can get a better understanding of what needs to be done in the animation areas.
