We will be airborne, heading to the IOM again. I'm collecting a KTM 990 to ride around the IOM (not racing!!) and for a couple of weeks tour of Ireland. And it's not an extravagance, the bike is in sort supply and a good financial investment for resale when we return to Oz. We are staying at the 'Waterfront Apartments' in Douglas, not far from the circuit. I'll try to check in from time to time but after the TT our plans are very fluid, one day at a time. :jump::jump:

Must be my enthusiasm for fast cars and bikes coming through KD! "How fast do you want to go????................How much money do you want to spend?" Wretched excess is my middle name, but I believe in planning ahead!! :jump:

KD, really! One never become the first user of anything, especially Graphics cards! :173go1: This beast runs at an eye-watering pace for only A$1299.00. And on only a single core at that.

Great video Ferry. Dr. Hartstein hits the mark with great accuracy, the FIA as it is administered today is not only ignorant of the real situation, they just do not care! Bearing mind that Ms. Wombat is '50% French' and we have family in the Loire Valley, I'm all for removing the French beurocrats from the FIA and moving the FIA to Geneva. :kilroy:

American liveries for V8 Supercars teams ahead of Austin A number of the V8 Supercars teams features special liveries for the first ever American round for the championship in the Austin 400 this weekend. Holden Racing Team, with drivers Garth Tander and James Courtney, will display the Australian flag on their cars. “V8 Supercars’ first visit to the US is an exciting time for HRT in being able to showcase Holden’s new VF Commodore to the market where it will soon go on sale badged as a Chevy. The people at Fishermans Bend are very proud of exporting a rear-wheel-drive V8 performance sedan to America – the home of muscle cars. As Holden’s factory race team, we’re also proud to wave the Aussie flag and show what truly world class cars Holden is manufacturing in Australia,” said Tander. Ford’s Pepsi Max Crew will also run a new livery for the race, as the team has been officially adopted by Austin Convention and Visitor’s Bureau. Drivers Will Davison and Mark Winterbottom will both carry the official logo and tagline of Live Music Capital of the World. “As the factory Ford team the US is somewhat home turf. Our ties with America are only strengthened by our partnership with Pepsi Max so when you add our association with Austin CVB we are the automatic choice for a home team for local fans,” said Pepsi Max Crew Team Principal Tim Edwards. Mercedes team Erebus Motorsport will feature the American flag on their three cars, with Tim Slade’s #47 E-Class running a new ‘stars and stripes’ inspired livery with their sponsor Heavy Haulage Australia. “I think the new livery is awesome and I think it is one of the best I have seen in quite a while. I really hope the American supporters like it and that they enjoy the TV show MegaTruckers when it is released there. Maybe I can convince Jon and the Heavy Haulage Australia crew to keep it on permanently,” said Slade. Former V8 Supercars champion Russell Ingall’s Supercheap Auto Racing Holden VF Commodore will also feature a new livery, as visible in the pictures below.

Good advice. I'd agree 110%! Best to do small increments and get as much information on hand before starting. However, it is not as difficult as made out, provided one takes baby steps. Then end result can be very satisfying. :kilroy:

It's a small world in many ways Ed, and Motorbike racing is quite a tight group. Toesland was a pretty good Superbike racer, a World Champion, but he never really made the cut in MotoGP, shame really. Speaking of Superbikes, I watched the Monza round recently, the pucker factor was around 11+ ........ and that was just me! Speeds were peaking at some 210-215MPH!!!!!!!!!!!!! And re COTA, have you given any thought to getting there this coming weekend? The 'V8 Supercars' are running one of their rounds in Texas, probably not on the full circuit but I'm thinking you'd enjoy some different tintop racing. :jump: And a PS, we're attempting to get away to the IOM again this year.

I think that the 'Average' purchaser possibly wants an aircraft with every possible weapon loadout, plus the Kitchen Sink and the Chief of Air Staff's medals!! Just look at some of the weird things under wings we've seen in the past, most of them only used in trials or as a very limited 'Field Modification', or just as an Air Show Static Display piece. For example, a Harrier GR.7 complete with 3xBL755 - 2xAIM9 Sidewinder - 2xTanks - 2xPaveway II LGB., or (my pet hate!) 'Bazooka Rocket Tube' clusters slung on P47's and P38's, along with assorted AA missiles that simply don't apply to Phantoms and Starfighters, in fact, we could probably fault most 'Military' additions in this way, but I believe this is really part of the package that purchasers expect and a developer needs to cater for the market. We are (most of us anyway) not enthused about a load of crap spoiling our aircraft, and I'd be very happy to see a plain 'Vanilla' Typhoon wearing a couple if AIM9 launchers and a single belly tank, perhaps that might be incorporated in a forthcoming patch. :jump:

If I remember the 'Pulse Jet' operating principles (and from a long time ago I must add!) from a course during my Uni Student days, the limiting performance factor is air density. The rather crude fuel/air mixture depends on high oxygen levels, ergo the performance degrades sharply at higher altitudes. I'd imagine that would be why these power units were used as boosters for piston engined aircraft or simply as low cost/low altitude primary power for 'disposables' such as the V.1. This little sucker would be 'interesting' to get off the ground and considerably 'more interesting' to get back down. 'Pucker Factor' around 10+ ................. :icon_eek:

It isn't Vettel that would cause them a problem at RBR Ed, contending with Helmut Marko would!

There is a serious flaw in the tyre situation that is starting to annoy followers of F.I and even the commentators, a couple of tyre stops in a race is fair enough, four or five is just ridiculous! I'll leave it at that rather than throw in a spoiler for anyone who hasn't viewed the race yet. :kilroy:

Quite an interesting qualifying session! Ironic that the team who set pole and won the 2012 race has fallen so far down the ladder!!!!!! Retirement beckons 'Sir Frank'. Obvious question for race day, can 'Mercedes' keep their tyres in race winning condition? :kilroy: Snipped from the F1 site:

I guess you would prefer the AFS or Alphasim/Virtavia offerings? Nothing is ever perfect, however, this is far better than the alternatives and if one were to make the developers a polite critique of the initial release, via a PM, a remedial update would appear in the near future. 'Version I' of anything (be it software or hardware) usually needs a little fine tuning, but that would mean 'excited' purchasers might need to exercise patience. :banghead:
