Taking shape, but it's slow going right now. The AFCAD is a bear because it's so intricate as you can see from these shots. Lots of left over areas from the SAC days that are utilized by the Marine and Navy folks. Right now the 301st area on the North end is where I've spent the most time (naturally, lol), the Navy area is just taking shape as is the Tower and Fire Dept. A lot more to do just in those two areas, then there's the C-130 area to the west of the F-16's, the Bomb Dump farther to the west and then Lockheed Martin across the rwy. It'll be quite awhile before it's ready and with my luck, about the time I finish, someone will announce that they've done Carswell with all custom 3D buildings, individual jets with the correct tail numbers and animated figures that launch and recover the 16's, lol. This is being done using the object libraries for the MAIW packages, so whenever it is done, those that download it will have to have those libraries to see anything.

That would never work, Kevin. The impulse engine field modulators would interfere with the anti-gravity compensators if the atmospheric density is greater than 0.357 (Earth normalized), so the acceleration vector de-couplers wouldn't work, and anyone knows what would happen then! Hey, I heard Khan was involved in this movie. Is that true? That would be cool.

I can understand the frustration, considering that I use ATC quite a bit (why, I have no idea. . .it's not very good) and wonder why the controller doesn't recognize my airplane. In my case. . .it's ignorance, pure and simple. I just never took the time to understand the config file and how to make it correctly interact with ATC. In the case of developers, both freeware and payware...I have often heard them say that they rarely get to fly for fun anymore because they're always working on the next model and when they are flying it's only to check out the progress of their latest updates and corrections. . .they really aren't concerned with ATC. Looking at folks who do repaints, like SteveB says. . .most are done for free for others to enjoy and making sure that each skin has the proper config information so it shows in the sim is the primary concern. There are more than a few simmers who find the basic ATC in both FS9 and FSX pretty poor really and so they either try to find other ATC addon programs or just put up with what the default ATC gives them. The frustration level is pretty high anyway and so the fact that the controller doesn't say my "type" becomes almost secondary to why the controller insists on getting me to "please expedite your decent to 5000", when I was 20,000 30 seconds ago and I'm in a C-5 Galaxy.

Some kodaks of the flight down to Jackson Hole. There were considerable mountainous terrain issues to deal with on this leg. I had to make a detour early on to avoid some particularly scary looking hills, then we almost had a CFIT whilst motoring along in the clouds, then, upon breaking out onto the high plains north of Jackson Hole, I could see the mighty Tetons ahead. I zigged to the east to pass over the lake, which set me up for a nice approach into 19. Got in some ILS practice during the landing.

Thanks Rob! This 310 (Milviz) is really nice. Down safe at Jackson Hole. The duenna track shows a maximum altitude of 9978 feet. That's where I was sure I busted the 10K "soft ceiling" clause. I was flying through this cloud and suddenly saw pine trees. In the clouds, yes, inside the clouds, if you can believe it. I said, "hey, what are those pine trees doing way up here in the clouds?" My passenger was not nearly as impressed as I was by the strange phenomenon. Long story short, and a couple of Gs later, I cleared the ridge. I've been exploring around the collision area and I think I have it mapped out precisely: There are 4 collision zones, each directly above the individual cables. Length of the zones is concurrent with the diameter of the cables. Width is concurrent with the pendants themselves, but does not extend to the capstans. Height is from 0' on the deck to 38' above it. My conclusion is that the file containing the deck pendants themselves is causing the problem. The "background" of that file appears to be registering as a collision zone. HTHs -Rusty Rabbit

FWIW, the collision points appear to be directly overhead the cables themselves, approximately 20' above the deck. Best, -Rusty Rabbit

If you have to manually set the flaps, then yes, it's the improved version, lol. The original release had two things going for it that I don't think anyone else, at the time, had produced: flaps that operated automatically based on airspeed and angle of attack and a startup that followed the Dash-1. After the update, both of those went away and Lago said they could nothing to correct it. As far as the tail goes, I don't have that skin, but if you have DXTbmp, you can load that texture and make sure it's converted to DXT3. That would be my guess as to why it's just solid black.:salute:

Just as an aside....I remember waiting with much anticipation for Lago to release the "Falcon". It was to be the best rendition yet and the screenshots looked amazing with all the hi-res panel pop-ups they had. It was by far the best version out there, especially before they messed it up with an update that screwed some things up and never got fixed. Today, I look at it in it's present form and it's amazing how rough the aircraft actually is. It would probably be considered an "OK" job for freeware, lol. One of our members was able to set me up with the download and so with my original info I was able to get it installed. My first impression 9 or so years later. . . .what were we all excited about, lol. Amazing how far we've come.

Over the years, I have gone through several types of chairs. I've gone the route of buying the cheapest office chair at Walmart...to a fancy simchair setup. My experience is, as the old saying goes, you get what you pay for. My current chair was bought off of Amazon.com. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002FL3LZI/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 But then I bought oversized wheels for it. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001H96YRG/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 All in all, I am quite satisfied with it. VERY comfortable for my back. Not to say it would be for yours. AND the armrests are the perfect height.

It's always been a dream of mine to own a full-motion flight simulator. The cost of one is not cheap, and then there's the problem of space to put one. But maybe someday. I am not mechanically-minded enough to build one, so a ready-made model would be my choice. The "Dreamflyer", I think, is one of the more reasonably priced ones available. Although I have built a couple simpits, a motion simulator would be awesome! http://www.mydreamflyer.com/ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v8ovmDGzFPA NC

PRB started a thread Bugs... in The NewsHawks
I live about 25 miles west of Lambert Field (KSTL) and, apparently, right under some sort of designated approach path to the airport, from the west, because I see airliners fly over, all day, heading east, at 5000-8000 feet(ish). They're always at low lower, which would make sense, so they're not very loud, but often loud enough to make me get up and look into the sky to watch. Tonight, one of them was a little louder, so I went outside to look. It was two "Super Hornets" in close formation. That was cool. They must have business with the fine folks at Boeing...

Ok, full disclosure: I like Star Trek (the old series). I understand the frustrations of the followers of the “religious text”. My frustrations with these movies, although minor in the “grand scheme of things”, isn't about Star Trek in particular. It's all these “re-makes” that piggy-back on a title, but have almost nothing in common with the title upon which they're “piggy-backing”. So now Snow White is some sort of knife wielding vampire huntress? I can't wait for the Gilligan's Island movie remake... I'll probably watch the new "Star Trek" movie, because I like adventure films, more or less. But "Star Trek", it isn't. They should call it "Space Awesomeness" and let it stand on it's own. :icon_lol:

    Chief,

In order to do what you're wanting to do you basically have to increase the power to the router (there is a trade-off in life time of your router). For me, it was simply a matter of entering an http address in a net browser address line and it let me into the router's configuration setup then increasing power incrementally until I had a max signal in my unattached workshop which is about 120' from the router.

It works like a charm for me...good luck.
