I have a few large seaplanes in my inventory and I am very dissatified with the FSX wake effects. They are very whimpy compared to what I see in real life. I have seen some rebuilt Sikorsky S series 4 engine jobs take off and land in Long Beach harbor and over at Catalina and the wakes are much more robust than the defaults. Does anyone have a line on some hefty wake effects for FSX? Thanks in advance, Paul:salute::salute:

D--- It, Bill, There goes the CC balance again! When I was first flying in California out of Torrance (in the "60's") I would see a 24 with inline engine land occasionaly. I believe it was from Nevada. Your rendition looks terrific as always.:medals::icon29::guinness: Best, Paul

You all could make a guy blush!! Thanks for the very kind words. This is just a hobby for me. My wife puts up with it because she says it keeps my mind active and otherwise out of trouble. I will keep at it as long as the body and mind work. I just turned 81 on June 6 and here I am trying to get a rope around Gmax! Best, Paul

I have known the name Paul Clawson for years and when I realized that PutPut was Paul I was flabbergasted. He has been a legend in the FS world and his models were some of the first addons I downloaded when I started flying in FS98. Keep them coming Paul!

About 3-4 months back I thought I saw some FSX scenery for the subject airport. I didn't download it at the time and now that I would like to I can't find it. I would appreciate a link if anyone has it as my searches are not productive. Please note this was complete scenery, not just an AFCAD file. Thanks in advance, Paul:kilroy:

There is a link to predefined FSX profiles people have posted at the SweetFX download site. I used one that someone posted for use with REX and it worked perfect. I probably will play around with it later but for now I'm more then happy.

The check list and reference list are written in HTML so you should be able to include pictures. You can use any HTML editor like Frontpage to edit it and insert images. I haven't tried it myself but it seems I have seen it done before.

I have noticed that some aircraft do not respond well to AccuFeel. I have some aircraft that absolutely abhor AccuFeel. When I get a new aircraft I try it with AccuFeel on then off and select the best situation for the aircraft. If you still encounter problems with AccuFeel turned off then you should post more information on exactly what is happening.

Does it have a removable memory card? If it does you can get a combo card plugin for your USB slot and read it off that.

7z is (in my opinion) by far the best compression software out there and the fact that it is free, let me repeat that, free puts the icing on the cake. It also installs into the context menu of Windows and has the most extreme compression available. It will even compress JPEGs which are already compressed image files. It will open any other compression format including FS CAB files. Except for one obscure compression format I ran across a while back and I can't recall what it was nor have I seen it again. AussieMan, download it and give it a try and I do believe you will stick with it. You'd think I was a salesman for 7z, no just very happy with the product. arrowmaker, I love your avatar! its got to be the best one I've seen so far.

I did a model of the USS Idaho a while back that has a model of the Navy P-6 catapult. It is a static model. The catapult has a hard surface (not visible) from which you can catapult any sea plane equipped with Rob Barendregt's rcbco-30 carrier ops gauges. Here is my rendition of the Curtiss SC-1 coming off the catapult. PS: the shadow disappears when the plane is over water. Best, Paul

Good point. I can envisage using a static ship rather then an AI which would simplify to some extent the placing of the aircraft. Then set it in Roger-Wilco-66's Solomon scenery. I'm adding this to my list of things to work on.

Can't you grab the polys from the top of the brick section and raise them a little higher? I don't know much about SketchUp but I would think it's possible. I would hate to see you have to start over but that is the curse of the modeler.

Before this post I was wondering if it could be possible to set this up in Acceleration with an AI battleship for the SC-1 model I'm working on or any other seaplane model of the era that was launched this way. If it can be done I was going to ask around for some battleship mesh (maybe one of PutPut's models) and build the fantail cats. Although I don't know if the aircraft could be placed on the fantail cat and made a saved flight like some do on the AI carriers. Just something to think about. :kilroy:

My bad. I think it won't work with a stationary carrier but will with an AI carrier. Why would you want to cat launch any aircraft that can normally fly off the deck?

You can't cat launch a tail dragger with acceleration. There may be an external program that can do it like Arrestor Cables but the wings will probably rip off. :mixedsmi:

Swingman, I salute you sir. What an admirable reproduction of this aircraft. I do love engines and yours is a delight to see. The textures are very well done and give a realistic representation. I do not add many aircraft to my hanger but yours is a keeper for sure. :salute:

    Hello Paul,

I'm a new kid on the block so to speak, but I have been simming since the old version that Microsoft bought to become MS product. I have downloaded and enjoyed many of your fine old ships (if you are indeed Paul Clawson) and appreciate your fine work.

Count me as one of your "friends" !
