I did every thing suggested...finally resorted to uninstalling which was a major deal and now I can't re-install...I'm about ready to toss this software in the trash. I have Win8...what a pain for reinstalling. I have deleted every little bit form the registry as suggested in the guide I found here...and still I keep getting this error 1628 cuz the damn thing will not reinstall...I set up anther user account..it still won't re-install. I have to say, FS9 and XP was a great setup...this computer runs FSX great...I don't know what happened but I guess I'm learning things about it I di not know till now. I've been at this all day with 0 results... I understand about saving the default flight...but I can't get the engines running. Anyway, I have un-installed FSX for the moment. Now if I can figure out how to re-install it, I'll be amazed. I don't know why the guys at MS had to make the newer machine be so damn complex to do a simple task. I bought the sim and the computer and should be able to do what I want with both without having to go thru all the aggravation.

Hey guys, Achim has updated his Norwegian airfields, and many of them now blend in very well with the surrounding scenery. The airfields at Vaernes and Fornebu now have expanded runways, allowing for easier takeoffs with Heinkels, Dreifingers, and Kondors. Also included are revised airfields in Iceland, at Keflavik and a brand-new base at Reykjavik! Thank you to Achim for these, and I moved them to the top of the pile for you!

But soon there appeared giant mountains along that path, so I made the VOR gauge steer me into KPGA on the 025 radial, which got me a bit south east of the direct track, and missed the big hills. Starting to "get" how to use VOR. Very cool. http://fs-duenna.com/flights/ShowFlight.php?detail=flight&value=m1WJaIBIh37fgCfVgh7kY7P68IU

A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category FSX Skins Description: This file contains alternative textures for the Neobq Fokker DR.1. They depict Manfred von Richthofen's Fokker Dr.1 No 152/17 painted in its early scheme. One of the best known Fokker Dr.1 flown by von Richthofen is the 152/17. The aircraft originally only had red struts, wheel covers, tail and upper wing, like most Dr.1s von Richthofen flew. Later the 152/17 was painted overall red like the 425/17 in which von Richthofen was killed The aircraft survived the great war and was on display in the Berlin Züghaus Museum. During an allied bomber raid in the second world war the museum and aircraft were destroyed.

Hey guys, I'm having an unusual problem, and need some help. In Tobob's LaRochelle scenery, there is a scenery object called "tb_warf." When I'm using this object at Bordeaux, because space is tight, it is not generating a .cdp file when I try to fly a mission to check its placement. Because no .cdp file is generated, the mission will not load. If I remove that piece, the scenery loads fine. This is the scenery package: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=45&id=4071 Does anyone know what the problem is, and/or how to fix it? :isadizzy:

You're welcome Matt! Von Richthofen or the Red Baron is more or less synonym for a red Fokker Dr.1 "Driedecker". However van Richthofen scored only 19 from his 80 victories with a Fokker Dr.1. In most cases this Dr.1 was not even painted (overal) red. From the seven Fokker Dr.1s, from which it is know he has flown them, only two were painted completely red. The best known one is of course the 425/17, the aircraft in which he scored his last two victories and in which was killed. The other one is the 152/17 which originally only had red struts, wheel covers, tail and upper wing, like most Dr.1s von Richthofen flew. Later the 152/17 was painted overall red like the 425/17. When the 152/17 was on display in the Berlin Züghaus Museum is was completely red. I have painted the 152/17 as it originally looked, which is very similar to most of the Fokker D.1s von Richthofen flew. For those who want it: Its available in the file library.

Discus, We have a winner! :salute: I actually had to place the U-boat pen just across the harbor from its actual location...because the amount of land available was not enough to place the U-boat pen correctly. I also used the other space to built a pretty large port...on the scale of Southampton. Luckily, almost the entire area was flat, so it made building relatively easy. Also on the slate are Bordeaux, and St. Nazaire.

Paul, Just in case, like if you just reloaded FSX or got a new computer, make sure you have the SP1 and SP2 updates. This might be an issue concerning that. What I think is happening is that for some reason, the ship is up out of water, and it has a airport mated to the deck, so the land is coming up to the deck like it would if it were lover land, like a bad place runway that has the wrong surface altitude with the lay of the land. I'll bet Arno could figure this out quick.

Hi all...all of a sudden none of the prop driven planes in my FSX will run, which is to say the motors will not fire. The copters are fine and the jets are fine. I'm pretty sure I haven't changed anything crucial. Anyone else ever have this problem? its a new install and I guess I can re-install if I have to. I'm liking FSX overall, although it took me a few years to get a computer that would run it well. I didn't do any simming at all for the past year and finally have the need to fly around the living room again for my own peace of mind.

Even in my small country there are already 2 flying replicas I know of, so you are most probably right when you think the number of replicas is close to the number of DR.Is originally built. For a period when photography was still something new an amazing amount of pictures were taken from the Fokker Dr.1. Personally I think the aircraft would have been forgotten already a long time when the guy above hadn't died in one. Manfred von Richthofen was made a myth by propaganda already during his life time. After his death people only continued to add to the story until he had turned into something which was completely invented and had no nothing to do with the real person von Richthofen. But ike Mikael Carson said in one of the interviews; when you build a replica it should be something people recognise. Well everybody has heard of the Red Baron, although most people think it is a guy with a big moustache and a pike on his helmet :icon_lol:. The myth around the red Baron leads to weird things. Like all the bad guys in the movie Flyboys fly in a red Fokker, while in reality even most of the 7 (!) different DR.Is van Richthofen flew, were painted only partly red! Fantasising about von Richthofen did also lead to the weird idea that some dogs can fly on top of their doghouse.......

A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category CFS 2 Aircraft - British Description: Update of Bismarck13's Bristol Bombay I took Bismarck13's (William Dickens) Bombay and simply did some refining to it. I created new skins with panel lines..basic servicable panel lines, nothing super sharp or detailed...just enough to give the plane some character. I revamped the DP file, using the Ground Crew British Weapons pack. There are 4 skins in this pack. The first is just a revamp of the original desert scheme that came with the plane. The second is a desert scheme Air Ambulance. Third is a Cargo variant in overall RAF Dark Green. Lastly is a Dark Green and Medium Sea Gray camo scheme...not accurate but looks nice. The Air Ambulance Skin: I attempted to recreate the Bombay in the markings of No1 Air Ambulance Unit, RAAF, based on an image sent to me by Hewman. Unfortunately, I was not able to do so in a manner that satisfied me. The Red Cross insignia on the sides of the fuselage should have No 1 Air Ambulance Unit RAAF in a semi-circle on the top half of the insignia...I was not able to produce that lettering in a curve with any of the software I have...or at least not with results that were good enough to use..they tended to be blurry and uneven. Secondly, the real RAAF Air Ambulance had the Red Cross insignia wrapped across the bottom of the fuselage..again, the results from many attempts to achieve this were less than stellar..very blurred, very streaky. So, I opted to include my first rendition of an Air Ambulance....it may not be totally accurate, but it looks good. And I think most simmers would rather have a good looking plane that is not quite on par with history than to have a historical skin that looks like crap. ________________________ A great big thank you to Bismarck for creating this fine aircraft. While it is not a super significant aircraft in terms of usage during WW2, it is a nice addition to the CFS2 line up of avaiable aircraft. Bismarck has produced many many aircraft that fit in this mold...planes that history and most model makers have over looked. Thanks also to Peperez and Hewman for supplying info on the colors and markings used on the Bombay. Thanks to the folks at Ground Crew for making and sharing their incredible British weapons pack. Very nicely modeled bombs in that pack. ________________________ Please refer to the original read me file by Bismarck13 (William Dickens). This is his work, and his rules aplly above all others. For my part...these skins are free ware. Feel free to tweak them to your own liking. Heck, if you want I will be glad to share my paint template if you want to repaint the plane in a way of your choosing...just shoot me a PM with your e-mail address and I will send you the Photoshop 5.0 files (can be used in Paintshop Pro as well). _________________________ Use these files at your own risk. Glad it all came together. May I make a suggestion? If you're concerned about whether certain parts will be able to be textured etc, then why not change all the parts to a colour close to battleship dark grey, that way if parts can't be or are difficult to texture it won't be noticeable as that part will be a generic navy grey anyway. A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category FSX Skins Description: This file contains alternative textures for the Neobq Fokker DR.1. They depict the Fokker prototype F.I 103/17 which was flowen by the German ace Werner Voss. Fokker DR.1 prototype number 103/17 was flown by Werner Voss who was impressed by maneuverability of the aircraft and later convinced von Richthofen about the qualities of the aircraft. The "face" on the engine cover is based on the images on Japanese flighter kites, which Voss used to fly with his cousins in Krefeld. The aircraft was equipped with a French Le Rhône engine which was more reliable than the German Oberursel copy. Voss was killed in this aircraft on 23 September after a fight with six aces from RAF 56 squadron. Voss was only 20 years old. I want to thank Neobq for creating this beautiful model and their excellent paintkit which was used to create this repaint. For various reasons I also want to thank my friends here at the Sim-Outhouse. Enjoy, Huub
