Paul, Just in case, like if you just reloaded FSX or got a new computer, make sure you have the SP1 and SP2 updates. This might be an issue concerning that. What I think is happening is that for some reason, the ship is up out of water, and it has a airport mated to the deck, so the land is coming up to the deck like it would if it were lover land, like a bad place runway that has the wrong surface altitude with the lay of the land. I'll bet Arno could figure this out quick.

Hi all...all of a sudden none of the prop driven planes in my FSX will run, which is to say the motors will not fire. The copters are fine and the jets are fine. I'm pretty sure I haven't changed anything crucial. Anyone else ever have this problem? its a new install and I guess I can re-install if I have to. I'm liking FSX overall, although it took me a few years to get a computer that would run it well. I didn't do any simming at all for the past year and finally have the need to fly around the living room again for my own peace of mind.

Even in my small country there are already 2 flying replicas I know of, so you are most probably right when you think the number of replicas is close to the number of DR.Is originally built. For a period when photography was still something new an amazing amount of pictures were taken from the Fokker Dr.1. Personally I think the aircraft would have been forgotten already a long time when the guy above hadn't died in one. Manfred von Richthofen was made a myth by propaganda already during his life time. After his death people only continued to add to the story until he had turned into something which was completely invented and had no nothing to do with the real person von Richthofen. But ike Mikael Carson said in one of the interviews; when you build a replica it should be something people recognise. Well everybody has heard of the Red Baron, although most people think it is a guy with a big moustache and a pike on his helmet :icon_lol:. The myth around the red Baron leads to weird things. Like all the bad guys in the movie Flyboys fly in a red Fokker, while in reality even most of the 7 (!) different DR.Is van Richthofen flew, were painted only partly red! Fantasising about von Richthofen did also lead to the weird idea that some dogs can fly on top of their doghouse.......

A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category CFS 2 Missions Add-Ons Description: Fly as a member of Major Henderson's VMSB-241 dive bomber squadron from Midway on June 4, 1942 in an attempt to stop the Imperial Japanese Navy from invading Midway Island. This is a historically correct mission depicting VMSB-241's attack in the early morning hours of June 4th prior to the main US Navy attack that changed the fortunes of US forces in the Pacific. This mission uses all stock MS CFS 2 objects and planes other than the B-24 Guy's updated SBD-2 Dauntles which is available here in the CFS 2 library. by Jagdflieger To check it out, rate it or add comments, visit vmsb-241-midway.zip The comments you make there will appear in the posts below.

Everything included except Buddha13's nice conversion of Garwood's FS 9 Avro_Lancaster_BIII.zip which is available here in the library. A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category CFS 2 Aircraft - British Description: Update of Bismarck13's Bristol Bombay I took Bismarck13's (William Dickens) Bombay and simply did some refining to it. I created new skins with panel lines..basic servicable panel lines, nothing super sharp or detailed...just enough to give the plane some character. I revamped the DP file, using the Ground Crew British Weapons pack. There are 4 skins in this pack. The first is just a revamp of the original desert scheme that came with the plane. The second is a desert scheme Air Ambulance. Third is a Cargo variant in overall RAF Dark Green. Lastly is a Dark Green and Medium Sea Gray camo scheme...not accurate but looks nice. The Air Ambulance Skin: I attempted to recreate the Bombay in the markings of No1 Air Ambulance Unit, RAAF, based on an image sent to me by Hewman. Unfortunately, I was not able to do so in a manner that satisfied me. The Red Cross insignia on the sides of the fuselage should have No 1 Air Ambulance Unit RAAF in a semi-circle on the top half of the insignia...I was not able to produce that lettering in a curve with any of the software I have...or at least not with results that were good enough to use..they tended to be blurry and uneven. Secondly, the real RAAF Air Ambulance had the Red Cross insignia wrapped across the bottom of the fuselage..again, the results from many attempts to achieve this were less than stellar..very blurred, very streaky. So, I opted to include my first rendition of an Air Ambulance....it may not be totally accurate, but it looks good. And I think most simmers would rather have a good looking plane that is not quite on par with history than to have a historical skin that looks like crap. ________________________ A great big thank you to Bismarck for creating this fine aircraft. While it is not a super significant aircraft in terms of usage during WW2, it is a nice addition to the CFS2 line up of avaiable aircraft. Bismarck has produced many many aircraft that fit in this mold...planes that history and most model makers have over looked. Thanks also to Peperez and Hewman for supplying info on the colors and markings used on the Bombay. Thanks to the folks at Ground Crew for making and sharing their incredible British weapons pack. Very nicely modeled bombs in that pack. ________________________ Please refer to the original read me file by Bismarck13 (William Dickens). This is his work, and his rules aplly above all others. For my part...these skins are free ware. Feel free to tweak them to your own liking. Heck, if you want I will be glad to share my paint template if you want to repaint the plane in a way of your choosing...just shoot me a PM with your e-mail address and I will send you the Photoshop 5.0 files (can be used in Paintshop Pro as well). _________________________ Use these files at your own risk. Glad it all came together. May I make a suggestion? If you're concerned about whether certain parts will be able to be textured etc, then why not change all the parts to a colour close to battleship dark grey, that way if parts can't be or are difficult to texture it won't be noticeable as that part will be a generic navy grey anyway. Cheers Shessi

A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category FSX Skins Description: This file contains alternative textures for the Neobq Fokker DR.1. They depict the Fokker prototype F.I 103/17 which was flowen by the German ace Werner Voss. Fokker DR.1 prototype number 103/17 was flown by Werner Voss who was impressed by maneuverability of the aircraft and later convinced von Richthofen about the qualities of the aircraft. The "face" on the engine cover is based on the images on Japanese flighter kites, which Voss used to fly with his cousins in Krefeld. The aircraft was equipped with a French Le Rhône engine which was more reliable than the German Oberursel copy. Voss was killed in this aircraft on 23 September after a fight with six aces from RAF 56 squadron. Voss was only 20 years old. I want to thank Neobq for creating this beautiful model and their excellent paintkit which was used to create this repaint. For various reasons I also want to thank my friends here at the Sim-Outhouse. Enjoy, Huub

The profile is very large and at such high DPI because it is intended to print for eventual commercial use. The one you see is even smaller than 1024... I just showed it to demonstrate that one can get a discernibly nitid enough picture at smaller sizes (i.e. texturing and thereby more believable looks in a sim). Of course, at 1024 X it would show to advantage.... ergo.. the reason for my comment of doing large enough textures to give repainters some leeway in detailing.

Thanks for the links John. Very interesting read and the demonstration in the second video gives a fine impression of what this aircraft actually could do. It gives whole new definitions of STOL, steep turns and fast climb. On of the nice things about repainting is that during your research you learn a lot about history. I never knew that all German aircraft manufactures used their own paint. Therefore the grayish light blue from Albatross is quite different than the turquoise Fokker used. Standards like RAL and RLM were not introduced yet. With engines which develop less power than the ordinary family car, all the weight counts! Therefore on Fokker aircraft the olive paint was applied as thin as possible. The (later) production models had the upper surfaces not painted turquoise, but the olive brush strokes were applied on the bare fabric and afterwards coated with two layers of varnish. The later lozenge fabric was mainly invented to reduce weight as the ink of the printed pattern weighted less than paint. This also explains a bit why Mikael Carlson's replica weights more than the original. Although I must admit not the full 80 Kilograms.... :isadizzy: Cheers, Huub

It will give you some great footage of Carswell from the air, the old WWII wood frame structures as well as absolutely wonderful footage of Peacemakers and Stratojets.
