Paul, Just in case, like if you just reloaded FSX or got a new computer, make sure you have the SP1 and SP2 updates. This might be an issue concerning that. What I think is happening is that for some reason, the ship is up out of water, and it has a airport mated to the deck, so the land is coming up to the deck like it would if it were lover land, like a bad place runway that has the wrong surface altitude with the lay of the land. I'll bet Arno could figure this out quick.

no offence beana but you might want to take that tin foil hat off for a second or two, no ones saying he didnt fly the atlantic solo or any of the other stuff he did, just saying he wast the first to fly the atlantic like you implied in your first post.

whilst true in some case, i suggest in this case you pick up a history book .. on the night of the 14th/15th June 1919, Captain John Alcock and Lieutenant Arthur Whitten Brown flew across the atlantic in a Vickers Vimy and claimed the Daily Mails £10,000 prize, both men were knighted as well. Also due credit must go to the US crews who flew the 3 NC seaplanes across the atlantic in stages via the azores (also in 1919).. and a load of US navy boats lined up in positions along the way so the flying boats could keep track of where they were (roughly) As i said, he was the first to do it solo, not the first to do it :)

the fact the atlantic had been flown several times before Lindbergh is of little consequence then? (for the record, Lindbergh was the first to fly across the atlantic solo, not first to fly the atlantic :engel016:)

you really do get what you pay, anything under £100 will get you cheap crap really, fine for a couple hours a day, but rudy useless for long periods. You can get a pretty good ones in the £150 -£200 though if you shop about, i've currently got a ergo-tek one (http://www.officefurnitureonline.co.uk/shop/ergo-tek-mesh-manager-chair.html) which after a year or so is still standing up really well to near-constant use. Only issues i've had are i had to take the arm rests off for it to fit under me desk nicely (but then i've got a pretty strange desk) and the bottom of the base is pretty darn sharp, it'll easy scrape half your ankle off if you move forward and have your foot in the wrong place! :blind: O and the back bit can get really dusty if you dont wipe it down every now and again. Other than that though its been great.

You can't help but love Barnes Wallis. In the beginning, he was viewed as some sort of nutty, esoteric science professor. He was skeptically rejected by the RAF. Through continual hard work and research on his part with his staff,...he proved them wrong.

It would have been interesting if Guy Gibson had not died later in the war,....how high in rank he would have achieved? Or in private industry or political office? Gibson would have gone far no matter what.

Many thanks John. I didnt know that. Explains why the Tigermoth trainers were all yellow. I know very little of the WWII schemes and regulations. Thanks DVJ. It will not have floats though, nor scenery. This package will sport two versions of airframes; inline 6 Rangers and radial Warner Super Scarabs. No differences in panels aside from classic krinkle black to chipped up 'i need new paint' to restored, high quality wood laminants. All of the panels were pretty much the same, though they did have some slight variations, they were mostly all the same shape. The pacers however had 'alot' of changes and model versions. They actually had probably 5 versions of 'factory' panels, and they have kits now for updated modern version panels which I captured one in the 'bush' version of the Pacer. So, the Fairchild will not be as diverse as the Pacer in that there arent so many versions. And..... They will be able to shed their skirts off! (wheel pants. wheel cover things. aerodynamic landing gear shells). :S

key point: "Many of the Afghan forces have already been trained to operate the Russian aircraft. Switching to a new platform would delay the readiness of their rotary wing division by at least three years while crews get training and experience on a new system, Gregory said." sounds like there just replacing old for new to me.

Thanks John for the info. Interesting to know that the mustard yellow belly on the Brittain version is authentic. I wonder why they had yellow? One that is going around actually looks like a Storch paint scheme, but has Allied markings. Reminds me in my younger days, a guy had a Stearman painted in WWI German markings... Why??? sigh...

Hi All, Most of us are quite familiar with the Bataan Death March after the collapse of Corregidor in the Philippines. I wasn't aware of the US servicemen who decided to 'slip away' beforehand instead of joining many American and Filipino troops that walked to their doom. This is the story of Clay Connor Jr.,....a twenty-three year-old Army Air Force communications officer who had never even camped before,......becoming a guerrilla fighter of exceptional means. Never surrendering to the Japanese,....he led a small group of Americans, Filipinos, and Negritos (indigenous natives to the Philippines) in spying,...giving intelligence updates to the allies,...and creating general sabotage against the enemy. Besides battling the overwhelming Japanese forces,....he had to endure malaria, heat, jungle rot, snakes, and disease giving mosquitoes. Most of all,...he had to overcome his own self-doubts and despair,....wondering if they'd ever get rescued. Conner would survive and fight for almost three long years. But,...if it's wasn't for the befriending by local villagers,....and most importantly,...the Negritos,...he wouldn't have made it. He found too one of the most vexing issues were the Huks,...a Filipino group of communist leanings that could never be totally trusted, I think the author, Bob Welch,...did a pretty good job in tying Conner's personal war journal,...other writings and interviews,...into a well paced book on what it was like to be on the run from the Japanese. The enemy had put a BIG price on his head,....dead or alive. I give the book *** stars out of four. .......Now,....a few other write-ups posted below by persons who read the book (from Amazon.com)........ Combat stories have always fascinated me because they invariably involve danger and excitement, but the story of Clay Conner Jr. goes far beyond simply being an exciting war story. Rather than suffer the fate of the majority of the American forces at Bataan who surrendered to the overwhelming Japanese forces, he chose to flee into the jungle. Author Bob Welch does an outstanding job telling the story of what happened over the next three years of Connor's life - of engaging in guerilla warfare while being relentlessly pursued by a brutal enemy, of suffering through disease and deprivation, of brave Filipino civilians risking their lives to help him, of his success uniting jungle pygmy tribes into an alliance against the Japanese, of courage and betrayal, and all of this with the added subtext of a mother's relentless quest to discover the fate of her only son. If you like stories of survival, determination, friendship, duty, hope, and the triumph of the human spirit, you need to read this book!

I recently read a review about it in a historical aviation magazine. Unfortunately,....I loaned the mag to my brother otherwise I'd scan the review for you. Two things stand out though in my mind about it,....flights are only over Switzerland (no other country) and you're stuck with the aircraft that come with the game. The reviewer did give it a thumbs up and pointed out it's limitations. However,...I'd think it would kinda' cool flying over the Alps in a Sopwith Camel.

Thanks guys. I have no idea. Its taken from an actual Argus that has this paint scheme. I changed one of the numbers in its tail Registry. I know very little of WWII markings, sadly. The second version Argus is on a Radial in a museum also. Very odd markings. The bullseyes are very small and located at the bottom of the parts and purpleish. Yes! Thanks Craig. 3DS Max is amazing....

Some more... This is poor ole 'Blue Louise'. She's had a rough time with the elements up around Alaska, parts of Canada and Northern Idaho. Her master is a bush pilot and maintenance has been scarce. A damaged rudder found a replacement from a yard from an older yellow Fairchild. Taylers air service was able to reskin the ripped up left aileron, and so far, the duct tape has kept the animal bite holes in the fabric from growing till proper patches can be applied. :S The Argus series of Fairchilds designed for Military work. Grunge needed. Note, landing gear skirts can be hidden as like on the Piper Pacer series.

Hey all, Since pictures speak a thousand words, I'll just post some pics. Some of these paint schemes werent finished and still not. Grunge being put on the military variants, additional things being put into the high end rebuild variants, etc. High end restoration model. Advanced version of the original paint scheme.

Thanks for the link! Great to see how it all came to be. I particularly love the hovering instrumentation. Very ingenious. I like the readouts and the hover balance readout. Some good thinking there. It takes the place of an artificial horizon. I had a blast flying it last night around Edwards AFB. Because it is so light and holds its spot in the air, you can manuver between buildings and down roads very easily. The small rotor diameter allows you to get between narrow spots easily. I did make 2 repaints last night. Neon Blue and Porsche Red. May have to do a Yellow variant today. Nice work!
