I am attempting to make a Zeppelin Hangar in GMax. Wish me luck. I have made a simple one with a front and back that looks VERY basic. I'm going to start adding to the basic model. I'll post pics as i get them. Allen, do you still have the GMax model of the L-44? If so, could i have a copy?

LightRoom will become the Photographer's tool. It already does most of what Photoshop will do. I see LightRoom and maybe a beefier version of Elements becoming the photographer's tools. Adobe has said that Lightroom will remain a packaged downloadable product.....for the foreseeable future, at least. Another program that will do a lot of what PS does for a photographer is the Onone suite. It has a lot of PS's features and works with layers. I expect to see them add to the feature set. They are in a good position to grow with photographers. They are photographers.

i'm not sure if this was mentioned or not. you can use a .bmp saved as a 256 in GMax. use that for your mapping then use your better dxt or 565 for the texture in CFS2.

Version 3. I put the twist into the fins. its no "Perfect" but it is there. Which makes it look more like the original. I have also scaled up the model to the 100kg. I haven't tested it in game. I may have to adjust it before I do. The bombs are coming along.

A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category CFS 2 Missions Add-Ons Description: Fly as a member of Major Henderson's VMSB-241 dive bomber squadron from Midway on June 4, 1942 in an attempt to stop the Imperial Japanese Navy from invading Midway Island. This is a historically correct mission depicting VMSB-241's attack in the early morning hours of June 4th prior to the main US Navy attack that changed the fortunes of US forces in the Pacific. This mission uses all stock MS CFS 2 objects and planes other than the B-24 Guy's updated SBD-2 Dauntles which is available here in the CFS 2 library. by Jagdflieger To check it out, rate it or add comments, visit vmsb-241-midway.zip The comments you make there will appear in the posts below.

A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category CFS 2 Missions Add-Ons Description: Fly with an RAF Lancaster crew from over 60 years ago as they give their all for King and Country. Everything included except Buddha13's nice conversion of Garwood's FS 9 Avro_Lancaster_BIII.zip which is available here in the library. The mission is sycronized to an actual air crew's recording and places you and your bomb load on target with the navigator's and the bomb aimer's instructions. Effects, bomb sight, DP files and recording are included along with detailed instructions for installation and play. by Jagdflieger To check it out, rate it or add comments, visit raf_stettin_raid.zip The comments you make there will appear in the posts below.

For those that haven't had the luck to see Carswell up close and you haven't already seen "Strategic Air Command" with Jimmy Stewert, rent it or download it. It will give you some great footage of Carswell from the air, the old WWII wood frame structures as well as absolutely wonderful footage of Peacemakers and Stratojets. You'll even get an idea of what a B-36 sounded like as it flew over and rattled windows for miles all around.

An option for some planes is Cat Launch. Its not hard to setup. Tango_Romeo did a tutorial on it. You can even use it for a JATO/RATO assisted takeoff. There is even an option for jets, thought the jets have a bug. If you need any assistance let me know.

I think that Vidal and Shadow Wolf have part of the solution for you. Many planes, including the stock MS CFS 2 aircraft, don't use lift in the flaps as that confuses the AI performance for some reason. Given that, I usually keep stock planes with stock flight models for AI use and then use a properly built air file for the player planes. I'm able to then get off of the decks, especialy, if as noted above, you have your CV steaming at 28 to 30 knots into the wind. Setting wind up is best done in the Mission Builder. The green ghost gauge can be set up to act as a catapult or super WEP, but it's been a while since I've used it. Perhaps one of our more nautically inclined members can fill you in on that. If not, instructions come with the gauge. It used to be available here, but if it's AWOL, you can get it at the larger sites.

Lookin' good Falcon. I'll bet that you were stationed there at some point in your career. In the early 70s when I was stationed at Fort Hood (3 hours south), I used to go to the BX on Carswell while visiting my Uncle who was stationed there with SAC. Watching a gaggle of Buffs blast out along with their KC-135s was a sight and sound that will live with me forever. The sky was black from the water injected exhaust of all those engines at maximum take off thrust. Oh yeah, there used to be fair bass fishing on the lake on the north side of Carswell. When flying my AS/Virtavia B-36, I generally take off from Carswell and fly up to Eielson AFB in Alaska and then often over to Thule in Greenland before heading back to Texas.

As a young lad, I just could never figure out how he flew that aeroplane with the gas tank where the windshield should have been. Still can't quite imagine it. As you all probably know, Lucky Lindy had rock star fame after that, and suffered the kidnapping and killing of his son possibly as a result. He fell into disfavor with the US Government due to his active membership in, what was it, the America First organization? He was stripped or resigned his commission in the army reserve over it all and was denied service with the military in WWII. As an employee of Lockheed, he went on to pioneer fuel saving techniques for the P-38s in the SW Pacific and if stories are to be believed, shot down a couple of Japanese aeroplanes.

Ferry and Francois, Thanks for the answer on my question. I suspected the same even before I asked it. I understand the sensitivities of Europeans, but the fully restored vehicles with authentic markings just beg to have a similarly dressed crew. At any rate, love the photos and I wish that I could have been there! I hope to get to Europe again later this year and I want to put the Netherlands on the schedule If I can, I will shoot you guys a PM and hopefully we can hoist your best dutch brew and talk about "Sonderkraft Farhzeuge mit Ketten und gepanzerte Kampfwagen." By the way, perhaps 20 years ago, while on leave visiting my parents in Western Colorado, we were driving on Interstate 70 between the small towns of Debeque and Parachute and there was a SdKfz 251 parked in the sage desert with no one about just north of the highway. It wasn't painted authentically, but was camouflaged none the less. It was in the middle of nowhere. I never could figure that one out.

Congratulations to the young lady! That's a major milestone in life. I wish her the best with her future plans. I left HS early (in my junior year) to join the Army, but I made up for it with a GED and then a Bachelor's of Science degree later on. Both of those were courtesy of the Army and the GI Bill. I got to come home from a deployment to see my son graduate. He's now a soldier. I was between deployments when my daughter graduated and she is now at university. I was never prouder than when I watched my two children graduate so I fully understand your pride and probably your tears at your daughter's accomplishment. By the way, I was just in Stuttgart last year visiting some army buddies and the two sons of one of them are going to the American High School there.

    Jagd,

I see by your picture and uniform you're still on AC. Still jumping? I don't see very well as it is even with my glasses. Is that a SF patch on your left sleeve just below the bottom of the picture frame?

I retired a couple years ago and am now working at USASOC PAO, Fort Bragg. Just wondering if you're in one of our groups?

    Jagd,
i've found an interesting utility (it's freeware) at Softpedia, it's called CPU control and is available under the section CPU Tweaks. It allows to decide the number of the CPUs running a specifical application. Now, hopefully, i own an Acer quad-core and, running Cfs2 with the help of such utility, i've seen consistent benefits in loading dense sceneries. (i've settled all the CPUs to run the process Cfs2.exe) i suggest you to try it. GOOD LUCK!!!!
P.S. if i'll see other similar programs i'll let you know.
  3. Jg,

There are a few CFS 2 sites, but I've never flown on line so I don't know anything about them. Post a thread and I'm sure someone will know something.
