Yep, I know I won't always have the ability to get up close photos of every building I will do, but it sure is nice to be this close to the airport and have the chance to go there and get new photos whenever I need them. I guess the two things I'm working through right now are getting the textures onto as few sheets as possible (right now, every texture is separate) and "where do I stop" with the custom buildings and rely on default or other objects to fill in, lol.

There are four of these large hangars on the airport, so this will fill the flightline pretty quickly and only one of them has changed considerably after being renovated by a "wealthy tenant", lol. . . .but at least I have the basic structure and I can add on to make the new portions he added.

Importing will be next Dimus, before I go any further with this. . . .I do want to see how these render in the sim. . .and hiding the edges and corners does give a better idea of how they might look.

Thanks Lance and Michael. . .I don't want to overdo the posting end of this, but maybe there are some other people who will see the piddly stuff I'm doing and get the bug. Couldn't hurt, lol. This is the Sign that sits just east of the Terminal parking area in front of the Tower.

Another part of the same airport. The Fire Station sits right next to the Terminal. I realize these are simple buildings to most who have done this for a while and it's probably "ho hum" to most, but making that leap beyond. . ."no way I'll ever figure this out". . .to this, is exciting.

With the pics I shot Sunday finally on my computer, I started putting together the main terminal. It's in the early stages, but it'll look much better than the default building I have in the scenery right now, lol.

Yep, I hear ya Dan. . .you went through a lot to get the drivers to me and I appreciate all that you went through. I guess the old parts have been laying around just long enough that I never gave it a thought. Why it caught my eye this time. . .I have no idea, but, while the bay isn't something that I can make look nice and custom made for the new tower. . .it does what I needed and that's what counts I guess. Thanks to Dan and everyone else who lent suggestions to this little fiasco. I think it's time for a drink, lol :icon29::icon29::icon29:

Everybody take a seat, mostly so you don't fall down laughing, lol. Most everyone is aware that my old system fried some time back and through the generosity of this community I was able to put together a new system. The old stuff is still here, just haven't gotten around to taking it somewhere to recycle. So I'm walking out to the kitchen and there, next to the dining room table is the old tower, gutted of everything, but still sitting around. I glance over at it like I have a hundred times so far and what catches my eye???? The full bay of card readers on the front panel :icon_eek:....WHAT? I quickly set it up on the table and after a few screws are taken out, there it is. . . The plug pin setup is different. . .this one has 6 across-5across below that. The new motherboard has 5over4. . .what the heck, give it a shot. I offset the first two pins on the end (so they aren't plugged into anything) which allowed the remaining pins to seat correctly. Turned the system back on. . .the drivers installed and "voila" I have a card reader and all the textures are loaded into the computer, lol. GO FIGURE!!!!:isadizzy:

Thanks Dan, No attempt at download works. I've tried every link that says it's the drivers and they either want me to download other software or in several instances said I couldn't download that file without a "Premium Account".:isadizzy:

Yep, that seems to be the case here as well....a nice camera, shoots great pictures and pretty much useless because of a simple USB driver. Tired of messing with it. Moving on.

I've decided I'm beating a dead horse here. I have probably found a dozen "so called" driver updates. . . .even downloaded some zip files that make it appear that they are the drivers (labeled as such), only to discover they are all various types of driver download software and all of which you must purchase and register before you can actually download any drivers. What a scam. I'll use the photo's I shot to start some modeling projects (I can zoom the small LED screen enough to see the general construction) and some time down the road I'll get a card reader.

Yep, that's the place I registered, did a search, found a page that claims that it has the driver, but none of the "Download" buttons gives you a driver. It just seems to be a page that teases you with a supposed driver, when all it's really allowing you to download are various "junk" programs.

It's a Sharp. . .model VE-cg30u. . .Win7 I bought this camera at the BX about 12 years ago. The Sharp website doesn't even list "Cameras" as one of their products. That's what I'm up against. I'm beginning to think that I may have a camera that's worthless.

I took all these images this afternoon out at the airport to use in developing models from Sketchup. I have an old "Sharp" digital camera that takes excellent images so when I went to transfer the images via the supplied USB cable to the computer I got an error message saying the software was not installed. I figured I'd just look up the camera model, find the correct driver and install it. HA!! even after going to a website suggested by someone on a forum. . .he said he had uploaded the correct drivers and while I had to register, it was free and then I could download. Ok....after registering, I did a search for the driver, found the link to it and what do I get???? A page full of little download buttons. . .none of which have anything to do with the driver I need. . .I can download a PDF Reader, a Driver Scanner, A download utility (so I can unzip my driver of course) and some other driver. The entire top of the page is plastered with the driver name, specifics about what OS it's compatable with, Company name, etc, etc, etc. . .but not one downloadable link that will give me the driver. . . .Grrrrrrrrrrr.:isadizzy:

lol, I won't take credit for the "push", I think folks saw that I was able to figure it out and thought. . . .if "he" can figure it. . .then so can I, lol. I went out to my airport this afternoon and took shots of the Terminal, the Tower, the hangar I used to work in, the Fire Dept. and one other hangar, plus the old FBO (which is now a Flight School). Shots of all sides of the buildings and close enough that I think the resolution should be pretty good. I've got plenty to practice on now.

Thanks RD. . .I googled the process and got it converted pretty quickly. The current model is now in FSX, but not as it should be. The textures are apparently a problem and I'll have to fix that. The "stucco" and the "red" were dropped during the "minimize drawcalls" I think. Anyway, I have to get going here, helping my daughter move today so I won't get to work on this again til this evening.

Fixed. . .just pulled the bottom down, reset the ground level to "0", then stretched the base to fit the slight taper. Looking better, I just need to add the antenna on the roof and work on importing it into FSX. I'd like to see what it looks like in the sim.

I'm not sure Paul, it isn't apparent in this image, but there is a slight taper to the entire tower and I don't think that it will continue that taper when I try to pull. It'll be tomorrow before I get back to it, but I'll do some testing. . .after all, there's always the "undo", lol.

I appreciate the encouraging words. Similar to how I approach everything is to make it as difficult as possible, when it actually can be relatively simple with practice. Not that I've mastered anything of course, but it wasn't very long ago that I was unable to even construct a simple house without cussing and banging my head on the keyboard, lol. Added some texture to get a better idea of how it will look. Made some changes to the top and cut in the rest of the windows, added the railing and started to add the window panes. The one thing that I noticed from the photo I have though is that the base (the brick section) is actually taller than what I show....I don't want to start over, but I may have to inn order to get that part right.

Another good flight up the coast, minus a few regulars though. One thing these shots show is what the freeware utility "FSrealWX" produces beyond the default FS9 weather engine. Default was just fog, then I started up the FSrealWX program and got what you see in the images.

Thanks RD. . .it was your recent posts that spurred me on, so I'm tackling it head on and referring a lot back to the video tutorials when I run into something new or something that's already explained that I didn't understand the first time. Long way to go, but at least it looks like the picture, lol.

We were headed for Brisbane and made a slight detour over Archerfield, just southwest of Brisbane to overfly one of our mates (PM) home field. Then it was on to the estuary just off the airport for a nice water landing. Fun flight!
