Focke-Wulf FW 189 Uhu for CFS2
by: William Dickens
Called the "Flying Eye" of the German army, the Fw 189 succeeded on the Eastern Front beyond the most optimistic predictions. Its superb handling and agility made it a very difficult and elusive target for enemy fighters. Its phenomenal toughness was demonstrated by Fw 189s returning to bases safely with one tail shot or torn off by Soviet ramming attacks.

Disclaimer: This model is freeware, I do not care who downloads or uploads it as long as it is free and the proper credits are given. If you use it to make money, well then that is a different story altogether . . . . just don't do it and there won't be any problems. You can fly it, paint it, alter it (it could be improved) anyway you want to as long as it remains free to all. This model has been tested on three different computers with no ill effects, but if something happens to your machine don't blame me. It has only been tested in CFS2 because that is the only flight sim I have. Someone else might be able to convert the model and if they would like to, I will send them my FSDS source for the aircraft in that event.
This a revision of William Dickens Botha for CFS2.
The aircraft are:
608 sqn RAF - the sole operational squadron
502 sqn RAF - used a few whilst transiting from Ansons to Whitleys
3 School of General Reconnaissance RAF - Trained aircrew for Coastal Command
11 Radio School RAF - flew from Hooton Park, training Coastal aircrew in operating ASV radar
Peperez did a revised airfile & redid the panel.
I did revised dps & added a few repaints.
It also includes a new 100lb antisub bomb (which is probably more deadly than the real one was!)
To install, unzip the download to a temporary location & move/ copy files to the matching folder names inside your chosen CFS 2 install.
Thanks to:
William Dickens for an unusual aircraft, & the Beaufighter weapons
Peperez for making it a challenge to fly
The Groundcrew for the British weapons, & permission to allow me to butcher their smokefloat to create the 100lb antisub bomb
Kelticheart for the inspiration for the exhaust effects & prop bitmaps
Gavin C for the radar antennae
This is freeware and subject to the usual conditions
Modified panel for the fantastic GA C-46. I've moved some gauges and I've changed others, I've changed some switches in the electric panel too. Original panel and V.C. panel by Libardo Guzman, Willy McCoy, and Cliff Presley, many gauges by Doug Dawson. You need the original panel and gauges.
Note: This package includes the following fix: If you see the gauges but the window is all black, you need to download this fix (it's the file .BMP of the panel)
FS-Cast Boeing B-17 Twelve O'Clock High FSX Repaint.zip
This is my FS-Cast Boeing B-17 repaint from the 1946 film, Twelve O'Clock High. Starring Gregory Peck. This aircraft is shown making a belly landing in the beginning of the movie.
Paul Mantz, Hollywood's leading stunt pilot, was paid the then-unprecedented sum of $4,500 to crash-land a B-17 bomber for one early scene in the film. Frank Tallman, Mantz' partner in Tallmantz Aviation, wrote in his autobiography that, while many B-17s had been landed by one pilot, as far as he knew this flight was the first time that a B-17 ever took off with only one pilot and no other crew; nobody was sure that it could be done.
Paul Mantz died on July 8, 1965 while working on the movie The Flight of the Phoenix, produced and directed by Robert Aldrich. Flying a very unusual aircraft, the Tallmantz Phoenix P-1 built especially for the film, Mantz struck a small hillock while skimming over a desert site in Arizona for a second take. As Mantz attempted to recover by opening the throttle to its maximum, the over-stressed aircraft broke in two and nosed over into the ground, killing Mantz instantly.
Thanks to Francisco Sanchez-Castaner and FS-Cast for a superb model!
