  4. Sticky Thread Eyes Front - a new Macchi MC.205 Veltro for FS9 and FSX

Just found this at FlightSim - FS2004 (ACOF) - FS2004 Warbirds FS2004/FSX Macchi MC205 Download | View ] Name: macchi_mc205.zip Size: 4,703,711 Date: 09-01-2010 FS2004/FSX Macchi MC205. The C. 205 was a single-seat, all-metal, monoplane fighter, intended primarily as an interceptor but with ground attack and escort capabilities. The long nose housed a Fiat RA.1050 R.C. Tifone engine (built under license from the German DB605 engine) which drove a three-blade, constant-speed metal propeller. Three liveries are provided: one model reproduces the aircraft displayed at Vigna di Valle hystoric museum, with the co-belligerant Italian Air Force livery, a second one with the livery of Regia Aeronautica (Italian Royal Air Force circa year 1943) and a third one with the livery of 'Aeronautica Nazionale Repubblicana' operated in the last part of World War II with the 'Repubblica Sociale Italiana' Air Force. The package features very accurate visual model and VC, highly reflective metallic skin and full animations. The panel background has been created entirely from scratch, based on photographic material found on the net and some photos from an official operating manual. Most of the gauges have been created by the author, a few are default gauges. Included in this model is a virtual cockpit, with working essential flight instruments and animated flight controls, plus camera views (FSX only). By Italo D'Attomo.

  5. Sticky Thread NEW! Freeware FS9 Curtiss P-36 Mohawk By A.F. Scrub

Just saw it @ Flightsim ... FS2004/FSX Curtiss P36 Mohawk Name: curtissp36mohawk.zip Size: 3,999,702 Date: 08-22-2010 FS2004/FSX Curtiss P36 Mohawk. The Curtiss P-36 Hawk, also known as the Curtiss Hawk Model 75, was an American designed and built fighter aircraft of the1930s and 40s. A contemporary of the much superior Hawker Hurricane and Messerschmitt Bf 109, it was one of the first of a new generation of combat aircraft--a sleek monoplane design making extensive use of metal in its construction and powered by a powerful radial engine. Obsolete at the onset of World War II and best known as the predecessor of the Curtiss P-40. This is a Finnish version powered by the Cyclone engine. Gmax model by A. F. Scrub.

Hey Folks I have just uploaded a new model on my site, the Ansaldo A-1 Balilla. It's a gift to this great community and my customers, past and present. Look on the first page of "Freeware" and download away. I had a problem on my freeware pages where it was asking for a user name and password and I was unaware of it until today. It's all fixed now and I apologize to anyone that ran into that lil problem. Cheers Chris

  10. Sticky Thread Boeing B-797 Double Decker Flying Wing is Released!

Hey all, Just wanted to let you all know the Boeing B-797 'Blended Wing-Body' is now released and can be downloaded here. Go to the Addons-Whats New section here at the SOH library and you should find it. If its been out a while, look under key words Boeing B-797 Lionheart. This features a basic VC, 32bit resolution textures, (not all of them), a retracting sky-stair in the belly, 2 futuristic fuel trucks that appear 3 min's after the engines are shut down, clam shell rudders, a 'flat turning' airfile to keep passengers in outer wing seats from spilling their drinks, 3 liveries, and features the new 'FS9 Unlimited Export' system with super small switches in the VC perfectly modeled, and a giant 13 meg model file. This shatters the 65,000 polygon limit and 4MM Vertex proximity 'auto-weld' limit. If your computer stumbles on the textures (as they are 32bit), then simply recompile with DXTBmp.exe (google that) and change their resolution to DXT-3 format. There should be a paint kit link up tomorrow.

  11. Sticky Thread Freeware Gems

OK, as suggested, I'm starting a thread to point relatively new users to some of the older freeware files that many of us may have but never talk about any more. Here's what I'd like to get from you: Download site - must be free for anyone to download. Filename, including the filenames of any needed updates or patches. A brief description of what you get. Only one or two screenshots please (once uploads are restored). I'm opening this up to not only scenery, but aircraft as well. Same rules apply. I'll start with a couple of my favorites. The first one is on AvSim. It's KBOS scenery by George Grimshaw, one of the driving forces behind FlyTampa. It's a great example of the quality that you pay for in all of their other packages. The base pack is bostonv2.zip and the update is bostonv2.1_update.zip, which adds a few new features.

I've had this one parked in the hanger for years and never really took the time to learn to fly it properly. I took it out for a quick few laps around Memphis Intl and ended up flying it cross country to my local airport. I could get quite fond it of without trying too hard.

  3. Gun sounds

Over the years I've always had trouble getting the gun sounds to work in planes that have them. I have gotten some to work by putting the gun sound wave file contents in both the sound and effects file, but it doesn't always work. An example is the new Macchi 205 by Italo D'Attomo ,I put the wave file(50 cal.) into the FS9 sound file but when I press the brake button or even push the brakes with my CH pedals ,while airborn, gear up,which is supposed to activate the gun sound ,I get nothing, the sam with many other planes that have gun sounds, another is the Fairy Barrcuda, some planes I've gotton them to work(Alphas SE5A) but most don't work. What I'am I doing wrong? Thanks

  4. Oh Joy! New Graphics Card time

Looks like I'm finally gonna move on from fs2002 to the vaunted fs2004 soon. My IT addicted friend has found a slightly used PC that will in his words, "Change my computer experience forever." While that is yet to be seen, he did suggest I look for a good graphics card as the one in the PC is minimal at best. Sooooooooooo, since this box will be pretty much dedicated to FS, what is the buzz on the streets in y'alls respected opinion as to the best graphics card out there for fs2004? I've heard the nVidia GeForce 8400 is pretty good but am totally open to those with the experience. Any and all advice will be most appreciated -- except ideas that could result in bodily harm to me.:salute:

  6. New EE Canberra series coming soon

Hello all, I thought I'd start a thread on my upcoming new series of EE/BAC Canberra models for FS2004; work on the freeware portion of this is approaching completion, and I hope to have it for release within the next two months. For the record, the freeware release will encompass the B.2 variant, in the forms of early, classic, late and prototype B.2 models. They will feature a VC and several paint schemes, along with a paintkit and some other goodies. Details on the later payware models will be available at www.flyingstations.com There will be a beta test prior to release, but I haven't sorted that out entirely yet. Feedback welcome as always, and I will post more updates soon once I lock the VC down a little more. Cheers, Steve

  7. Orcas Island Blues

I have Bill Lyon's Orcas Island scenery installed...it comes with the Travel Air Package. I have a lot of buildings that are untextured. I have installed, reinstalled, reinstalled...and still the same. It just dawned on me that I have the scenery installed in a normal-ish install of FS9...not a GW3 set up. Is that the culprit behind the untextured buildings? OBIO

  9. Question Need help programming gauge

David's unable to log in here for some reason, so he asked me to post a question about how to program a gauge he's working on for the upcoming Temco Pinto. I'll copy any replies and e-mail them to him. Here's David's question: "I need to know the code for creating a FS9 XML switch that will stay on as long as I am pressing the mouse button and the second I release the mouse button it turns off. I have found one that works like I need in FSX for the c208B panel called "lamp_test_switch," but due to the different coding used it FSX it doesn't work in FS9, and I don't know how to convert it, or even if it can be converted."

  11. Can anyone direct me to LawDogs Typhoon soundset?

As some of you may know Dave Moly is putting the Auster B4 Ambulance together and as it is one of only two fixed wing aircraft to use the Blackburn Bombardier engine he needs a Coffman Starter sound to go with the effect. I understand Lawdog has a Coffman effect on his Typhoon sound set but I am damned if I can find it. Cheers Leif

Anyone know where I can find re-paints for the Alphasim's CH-53? I did searches at the usual suspects...Avsim, Flightsim and Simviation. I even did a Google search to no avail. All I can find are a handful of textures for Rory Kelly's -53. I'm just looking a for a modern paint scheme of a USMC squadron...I guess gray with some oil and exhaust marks. Thanks, Ray

  20. And now...the Dumb Question of the Week

Hey all, I am in the process of rediscovering Rick Piper's fantastic A-22 Foxbat, without a doubt one of the best LSA's out there for FS2004. The only major issue that when there was only one pilot the plane banks to the left unless there was almost no gas in the left tank due to the shift to the CoG. IIRC when it first came out there was some discussion on this and someone here uploaded a revised cfg file to fix it. This brings up two questions: 1) If there is only one person in a small two-seater (side-by-side) does the real thing bank to the left without any control input; if it does is it to the same extent as the A-22 is showing? 2) Does anyone have that revised cfg file? Many thanks in advance :) PS-FSNordic's Evektor EV97's Rotax sound is INCREDIBLE for the A-22.

  22. Icon26 18 months

It's been 18 months, almost to the day, since I last fired up FS9 and went for a virtual flight. I took a new position at work which required a long training and certification process. I had to study regularly and just couldn't make the time to go "up for a spin". Last week I was able to get finish up all of the certifications and finally tonight I was able to complete a few short flights. It's amazing how much I have forgotten (that's a disclaimer for all the dumb questions I will be asking...again :icon_lol:). I spent about 30 minutes trying to remember keyboard commands and the joystick buttons...still have not figured it all out. Apparently I was in the process of setting up several FS9's because I only have military aircraft installed, and the shortcut was labeled "MilAir"...I have to go read up on how to do that again, though I may stick with what I have for now and set up one for GA once a get re-acclimated with basics again.

  23. FS2004 Aeroworx King Air B200 v.2.1 SAAF 41 Sqn #652

Hello there guys I have painted yet another SAAF aircraft on request from one of the forum members here to fill the virtual skies. I have made a repaint for the Aeroworx Aviation X-treme King Air B200 in the colours of the South African Air Force or SAAF 41 Squadron aka "the Pointers" #652. The King Air 200 in SAAF colours has the national flag on the tailfin with the serial number in black. The SAAF cookie cutter roundel is on the side of the fuselage with dark blue and arctic blue stripes. The Pointers patch is painted on the side near the cockpit windows. To obtain the payware Aeroworx Aviation X-treme King Air B200 a purchase should be made from http://www.flight1.com for this repaint to work. I have uploaded the repaint at http://www.flightsim.com so be sure to check it out! Make a search for either SAAF or Pieters, if the repaints do not show yet it maybe due to the servers not showing them yet.
