Please all Team Members Read Below. The testing I did this year lead me to realize that many people do not have all of the ports that need to be open set in their routers. All instructions below refer to DSL or Cable connections. Dial up connections should not have Port Forwarding issues as you are connected to the internet directly. We refer to that as a truly Pants Down Internet Connection. Setting your router First Disclaimer: While messing around in your DSL Modem you may change something that will cause you to be unable to connect to the internet. Care must be take that you understand the procedures I give you I will not be held responsible for any mistakes on your part. If you do not feel comfortable with making the changes STOP now and proceed no further. If you do feel confident take screen shots of your Router Admin Pages before you make changes. Know your user name and password to your account. This should help you from making any fatal mistakes that will prompt you to call your ISP for support. Post your questions to this thread and we will help you set up your router.
Between server crashes/hacks and a year gone by, a lot of the basic hints and ideas that have been shared among the RTW community have disappeared from the Outhouse. With a bit of digging in my own files and the other teams' websites I present a compilation of "the Basics" In this installment (RTW-101 -- The Racer's Computer) we'll go over some of the principles of setting up and maintaining your computer for Round the World Racing. Where possible, credit has been listed or names retained to show the original authors, whom we all thank for their input. ------------------------------------------------ Preparing your computer for the RTWR Race (RFields (1-18-07)) We are occasionally asked about re-installing FS to prepare for the race, and uninstalling addons. Provided your FS program runs stable and without problems there is no need to re-install FS before the race. You do need to make sure that no addons will reset the FS system clock.

Hey All, I'm trying put together an event this Fall that would have us finding our individual ways from one point to the next using only Radio Range Stations and receivers or any other device that would have been available at that time. That time would have even been before NDB's,,,,,what?,,,,yup. If you haven't seen or heard about any of this for Flight Simulator then pick up the rr40.zip download from FlightSim's library,,,,it's other places too,,,,just don't remember all of them,,,,and have a look-see at it and tell me (reply) what you think. You can have a look at this too: http://forums.flightsim.com/vbfs/showthread.php?t=215234 It would probably take a similar seperate event (here) to cut down on the number of pilots.
Should we start looking for a new Real World Weather Engine. As of right now the Real World Weather Engine is not working. fs2k.zone.com the default address is not returning reply. The server could be down but it is strange that this happens on the same day they that they announce Microsoft Flight.
A couple years ago I worked up an event plan. It focused on good flight route planing and then good flying. The basics would require certain checkpoint airports be hit, along with a few other airports from a list of possibilities. Which would allow a great number of possible routes. The plan was to require that four different aircraft be used - your choice of piston or turboprop aircraft. The goal would be x number of NM flown in x number of hours and x number of legs. Who ever is closest wins. It would require a fairly high overall average speed but not a flat out speed competition. Anyone interested?

Ok, here are the final standings for the RIMPAC Event: Fuel Consumption: 1. Salt Air 2. DangerousDave26 3. jkCook28 Speed: 1. DangerousDave26 2. jkCook28
Well,I finally get to start! After disasters in testing, that included fuel tanks that ran dry & wouldn't transfer, unexplained loss of power whenever I got to 40,000 feet, and sim crashes before I even got to the first VOR,I finally completed leg 1:YPDN-WIIH The only hassles I had were the picture programme going AWOL for a bit,and som scenery problems on Final, which were caused by pausing the flight but led to a few minutes panic! So: total time so far:3;58;59 bonus for indonesia: -30 fuel used 16570 lbs(thats a lot!)
This is where we will post race status and progress.
Do not fear going forward slowly, fear only to stand still. - Chinese Proverb You could argue that I've entered a mule into the Kentucky Derby. The C-135A certainly won't be the fastest plane in the air for this race, and those four J-57s will ensure I don't win any fuel mileage awards. What this plane does have, is excellent range and a ton of character. Whether that's going to be enough to be competitive at all is hard to say. Anyway, it's time to get going. Departing for WIIH in a matter of minutes.
Post your entries in this thread. I'll go first. I'm entering in Piglet's T-33 in a US Navy TV-2 trainer repaint (TV-2 was 1950s Navyese for T-33). Here's a couple of screenshots of it being shipped on a carrier to Darwin.
Few days ago passed by Darwin and saw one nice looking plane. Gotta try it out. Nobody's looking, hehe... Sneaking out in the middle of the night to Kupang WRKK. I took 24 years and 7 months for the last event, reckon I'll have to finish this one faster or they'll catch up with me...
